Whether or not Democrat Minority Leader Jeffries is qualified for another position in our government is not an answer to the question. How do the Republican Party House Caucus members return the House to its Constitutional orders? Without a functional Speaker of the House of Representatives, our government cannot perform the duties of our Republic mandated by our Constitution. Democrats can not fix this problem. Democrats are not the majority Party. The Republicans in the House are displaying their inability to govern. The Republicans need to be willing to compromise and then keep their word.

One of the few predictions I made.... When I saw Hakeen Jeffries early on, I realized he'd be a great leader. He understands what it takes: He repeats the same charge against the GOP over and over again, and that's all it takes. He speaks simply and convincingly.

But she did the right thing in stepping down and moving up a younger congressman to take her place, while she is still a member of the House and can give mentorship

I would LOVE if the Dems actually followed that reporters suggestions they all as a party vote for an relatively upstanding Republican during the floor vote and only a few brave Republicans would have to join for them to be able to resume work. It would really show that they meant what they say about looking for a bipartisan solution
No! the republicans will vote against a bill for no other reason than it was bought onto the floor by dems. Why should we bail them out while the world sees how incompetent they are. They don’t want congress in session because they have no policy to bring forward. So once again they choose the clown show… let them and their constituents deal with themselves. They are even trying to blame McCarthy’s ouster on dems, when they bought the bill onto the floor…
What's the point when Gaetz could simply pull his stunt again? And, why don't some Republicans vote for the upstanding Hakeem Jeffries who has so far pulled more votes for Speaker than any of the Republicans?
@@higgs923 I think it would be much harder for Gaetz to pull that off if Dems and Republicans picked a Republican they can agree on. They wouldn't have the votes since Democrats would have no incentive to vote with him, and it would make him look like even more of bad guy who just doesn't want the government to function.
@@vuviper They need to vacate the new rule Gaetz insisted upon that allows for only one member with an axe to grind to call a vote to vacate the Speakership. I think he did this to purposely tie everything up and create chaos. It won't matter who they choose as Speaker, as it will go back to square one again in short order.
Problem is for the GOP, they all look like complete fools with no concern about the American people. They act more like grade school playground bullies playing King of the Hill.
Democrats could certainly try that, but what they want more than anything are consessions for their assistance in selecting a speaker. They would have all the leverage in a negotiation with Republicans to elect a speaker and aren't willing to let that go for free.
The way Democrats see it, there are 2 choices for the Republicans:
1. Find a candidate that enough Republicans can agree on electing (this has not worked so far over the last 3 rounds of voting)
2. Come to the table and negotiate with Democrats on either a power sharing agreement or new House rules beneficial to Democrats in exchange for enough Democratic votes to elect a speaker.
Democrats say they're doing everything for the American people, but they're also looking out for themselves. I can't blame them for that though, considering Republicans have proven themselves unable or unwilling to govern.
If Macarthy stayed this would of taken the power away from the Maga extremists because they couldn't hold anything over him.

Democrats should accept Liz Cheney as the Speaker with support from moderate Republicans.
She would be good. She has a great deal of common sense which is why the gop tribe would not accept her. They are drama queens and drama princes. They are immature and entitled which is sickening.
