I am worried about him now, i was already worried about Namjoon, but now, after hearing this, so whát, he's chubby!!!! Doesn't automatically mean he's fat, & & to say is with their diss song "So Whát!" Those people need to get a life, Suga is good the way he is!!!!
The thing is he's said multiple times to his fans that they don't need to lose weight and that he didn't like that thinness equals beauty in society. He even wrote a message on a gift for a fan saying "don't lose weight", told the fans at a signing that they are perfect the way they are and said another fan did not have to lose weight to have a chance with him and that personality comes first, all while still suffering from his own body image issues behind the scenes. In my opinion, he's looked his best recently with a bit more muscle and looks so much healthier. I hope he eats right and overcomes these issues some day. 💜
As a fanboy I too feel , being thin is bad. Being Healthy will keep him fit in tge journey for long. I am happy that every BTS member are getting buff.
@@rikhmjustsomeguywithmousta4971 I don't think you meant it this way, but saying "being THIN is bad" is a horrible thing to say, and also just toxic and untrue. You do know plenty of thin people are extremely healthy right? You can't be for body positivity but then make statements like "being thin is bad", grouping every thin person into 1, it's quite honestly a horrible and just untrue statement. I hope you meant being OVERLY thin cause of unhealthy habits is bad, so I will give the benefit of the doubt, but don't go around throwing statements like that around without clarifying please. Body shaming isn't a good look, and to then add "being healthy is good" afterwards, insinuates nobody can be thin and healthy which is just plain and simply untrue. Thin isn't the same as underweight or undernourished or having an ED, thin can be anything someone finds too thin, including many people who naturally have longer limbs and look ''thin'' compared to others even with muscle. Have a nice day.
Exactly my thoughts. He looks his best at the Moments he is like "I gained weight and need to lose it" and I'm like "nooooooooooo please don't diet! " I know that I like hin more than I should, but seeing him so worryingly skinny, or saying he needs to diet or being told to diet hurts so much...
he went through so much. Anxiety and depression needs to be talked about more. I think Tiffany is the only idol I can think of who openly expressed going to therapy and encouraging it. These idols are self medicating with diets and that won't help.
That's why non-fans have no right to say something about Yoongi's weight. This man went through a lot. He deserves so much more. He looks healthier and happier now. I'm so proud of him.
Yoongi right now is the best he's ever looked. He is getting buff and and putting on healthy weight (like all members of bts right now) and I love it. When he's super thin it makes me sad, he deserved all the good foods💜 I know for an absolute fact that most of us Army's love yoongi when he is a bit chubby because his cheeks look so cute and squishy and ahhhh I just want to give him all the happiness in the world😭😭💜💜💜
Part of the problem is using the wrong terms. Yes his cheeks are cute when looking rounder...Tae has also had tines in the past when his face was very round and had adorable bread cheeks. But Suga , even after gaining some more healthy weight is still not CHUBBY! He is FIT. Chubby means fat. And he is not...growing baby's have cute chubby baby fat all over..but having plump cheeks.. and actually being an over weight chubby person are two different things & I have never seen Yoongi chubby from debut till now...none of them...even Jimin was not chubby even though he thought he was.. he had a round face but his body was just muscular w nice thighs and booty
He has never been chubby though. You shouldn't say that! Even when be put on a couple of kilos he was still really thin! He just has the round face that is normal Korean facial structure.
@@cryinglaughingemoji1741 Yes you're correct; know many don't mean it negatively at all... but where I am from chubby is synonymous with FAT. And Suga just isn't fat even after he gained more needed healthy weight Chubby is just the sort of the cute "nicer" way of saying it. Like how babies are SUPPOSED to be chubby it's cute they are growing..but we don't tend to say fat baby usually we say" aww what a Chubby baby " it's understood the baby is PLUMP lol....In my country if someone describes someone as cute and chubby they mean the person is PLUMP even if they aren't being mean at it still refers to being big. And Suga has NEVER been chubby except when he was a baby.....
Sorry it's taken so long to update a male idol. The female requests greatly outnumber them but I think it's important not to forget lots of men also struggle with their bodies and dysmorphia in different ways too.
i’m really surprised the tear era was glossed over. i’ve always felt that was the time frame he was at his thinnest. yoongi was unrecognisable in the face, cheeks hollow, and the thinnest of clothes would hang on him, not to mention he was so noticeably withdrawn. fans actually significantly addressed it and expressed concerns and he confessed at a fan meet that he was sick - he also very recently touched over it in an interview after being shown a picture of him during those early months of 2018. in the behind the scenes of euphoria mv featured in the 2018 memories dvd, there is a noticeable dip from his ribcage to his abdomen when he’s laying down, and that’s haunted me ever since and why i’m pointing it out - i’ve been inside a mental hospital before and seen people there with that body type clinging to life. i get why people favour yoongi of that era due to his hair, his makeup, his clothes, and even the era itself just producing amazing music and content from bts, but since i saw that clip it sometimes makes me feel ill, especially when people say that era had “the best suga”. he was very briefly at that same worryingly hollow-cheeked look for some time in the summer of 2020 as seen in some selcas, but that was a very short period in comparison to the few months of the more publicised tear era, wedged between d-2 and dynamite wherein the tannies were silently preparing for the dynamite comeback, so it’s less discussed as selcas were really the only pictures or footage of him in that time frame. i think eating disorders within the industry are very overlooked - there’s an overarching view that in order to have an eating disorder one must completely starve or vomit or know they have one or confess they have one, but many psychologists point out that extreme dieting with insecurity surrounding weight as motivation can qualify as having disordered eating habits or even in itself an eating disorder, and Many idols diet in such ways. depression can also make its victims so unmotivated they don’t want to eat and anxiety can bring on vomiting. i’m so glad his surgery has opened paths for him - now he can exercise to lose weight, he’ll hopefully feel less pressured to go on diets to lose weight, and he will not seem as sick.
The pressure to be thin is not just put upon Idols. I think it's exceptionally bad in South Korea. I hope they all can let go of this kind of thinking. To do concerts for 3 hours, you need to be healthy and strong and eating enough is a big part of that. The potential for injuries is serious.
I particularly remember this one airport photo of him with the silky black shirt. He looked like a skeleton, just skin and bones. Makes me sad everytime I see it. And then there are seriously people in the comments saying how hot he looks there. So sickening.
thank you for saying this omfg i feel like no one ever talks about it and it makes me so sad. you literally laid out every thought ive ever had about this 😭
this is literally so true, so sad and people still don't get it. Also, do you have a video of the behind the scenes of the euphoria mv featured in the 2018 memories DVD? I haven't seen it :(
Honestly, I've been waiting for a new video and once I saw it was about Yoongi I was so excited. It's been a long history of body dissatisfaction with him and over the past 2 years I've been so happy to see Yoongi, and all the BTS members, become more comfortable and healthier in their bodies. Thank you for posting this and bring male body dismorphia and dissatisfaction to light
the pandemic really worked well for yoongi. also jungkook and others clearly getting into working out with a goal of building muscle makes it better than the unhealthy relationship with diets. hopefully his environment will keep him happy and not too restricted, intermittent fasting can be good and the only kind of diet i would want him to go on.
I still get fired up thinking about the stylish who told him to lose weight like WTF. It's not like they're wearing tight spandex or crop tops like female idols. They wear baggy pants with oversized blazers, sometimes a pair of stretchy leather pants. Like for gods sake he wasn't gonna gain 50 pounds and be completely unable to dress.
I get very upset as well because it sounded like the stylist was more worried about her work than making yoongi feel comfortable -_- probably knowing he would take it personal and start to eat so little .-. It grinds my gears
i think this was taken out of context though! i dug into this when the issue first came up and the whole story was that they were on tour so if he kept bulking up, he wouldn't be able to fit in the clothes & they'd have to buy/alter all new clothes for him, which would be hard if they're on a world tour
@@jenniferlopezburciaga9690 possibly, he is quite sensitive with his body image so depending on how the stylist told him, it might’ve affected him a lot or not at all!
We should be fired up with female Korean idols are criticized for their weight gain too. Everyone should be able to dress comfortably and live in the bodies of their choosing.
Yoongi has been my favorite member for the past 5 years I’ve known of BTS. My number 1 biased. I’ve always loved his personality, especially and the way he thinks. I love how caring and sweet he is. He is always so thoughtful and attentive to other members; he works his ass off an it really irritates the hell out of me that people would judge him in his appearance saying he’s “cold” or “lazy” when there’s no way he could be an idol if he was “lazy” as that requires hard work and dedication. Yoongi isn’t cold but authentic. He’s not going to pretend to be a certain way to people as it is pushed for idols to be. An that’s what I love most about him. He’s just himself, 100% authentic. I love this man so much I really couldn’t express😭💀. It doesn’t matter at what he looks like. Personality is most important to me an he definitely has a heart of gold. He’s only human so he has his faults both character and physical. That’s something to remember. These idols aren’t gods. But I’m so happy that they’re gonna take a MUCH NEEDED break. Yoongi has looked so much more happier this year and I’m so happy for him. I hope he continues to put himself first-his mental and physical health, show himself love because that’s all he deserves and more💕💕😩😩🔥
I can relate with his extreme self-criticism... "perfectionist" is what I used to proudly describe myself without knowing how toxic and unachievable it is. No matter what ppl say u did good, it's never good enough for urself. U beat urself over and over through the process and after the final result. So eating becomes smth u do if u have extra time, never a priority. I still choose work over a meal until today. But at least I am aware of it now and try to remind myself that I worth more than my work. I know now that there is someone who can love & appreciate me without asking for any justification...it's myself. Its been going on for tens of years and countless times of hitting rock bottoms. I see it as a life-long training. I accept it and learn to live with it with consciousness ❤️
I am glad to see Suga looking healthier. I think that with him working more on his physical health, his mental has improved as well. He just seems happier and well adjusted now, something that we only saw very inconsistently in the past. I think the hiatus will benefit all the guys, and they all deserve it after all the hard work they put in over the years for their fans. I am sure their fans are sending them all their love and support. I know that their fans are waiting patiently for their return, but still enjoying the 7 x's content of their solo endeavors.
It looks like Hobi and Suga are such good friends. It's nice to see them together and hanging out. Fun stuff. Thanks for the video. It's good to understand what other people go through, especially if I am influenced by them.
Yoon-gi has always been my hero.. he said to fans what he wished to hear himself, always anti weightloss for others, telling fans they're perfect how they are..it's like Karma in a way. I have suffered from an ED for many years atm I'm the heaviest I have been. Thanks a lot to BTS. I have other illnesses and injuries that have played a part in weight gain but before, I played many sports including diving and rowing that along with starvation helped me be incredibly lean, I gained just enough to compete but then would drop it again. I constantly heard how good I was at my sports and that I was pretty etc and I got my value from competing. I got down to 49 pounds about 3 years ago .I had trouble walking , I hid under baggy clothes so noone would see me. I still thought I was fat, that I looked horrible disgusting and watching this. I hear my words and thoughts echoed back to me from sugas lips. It's shocking. BTS and Yoon-gi have been my inspiration. I say I'm ot7 but secretly Yoon-gi has always been my bias. I have bipolar and epilepsy as well and Yoon-gi has always seemed so strong. I wouldn't wish what I've been though (& still am going through) on an enemy! You are beautiful Yoon-giah! You dont need to control your weight to control your world or impress people. We love you as you are, always 💜🌟💘
People are so superficial, once someone is under the spotlight, he is instantly put on a pedestal and every single move he makes is pointed at and critiqued! Let's not forget that he is only human and he has the simple right to eat for God's sake Give my boy a break.. He's done enough already and he's been thru so much you can see why he often feels lonely. Going through all that at such a young age; battling depression and social anxiety which is crazily difficult and coming out with his amazing, soothing and meaningful music shows how dedicated, passionate and responsible he is as a person. If he is one thing to any of you he should be an inspiration.. He teaches you how every dream you might have is within reach if only you believe in yourself and work hard for it. That's what suga represents. 💜💜
I realize how much sympathy and compassion you put for people in your videos (especially after binging somi and iu’s video). I hope you receive much love from the people in your life too, amfg
I will always have a soft spot for these puppies. Even when I haven't listened to them in a while, they make me wanna take care of them and praise them
i rmbr in their 2014 festa they mentoined they were so uncomfortable with showing their abs during their debut. just shows u how much bighit exploited them...it sucks bc alot of armies hate bighit for such small things (not giving jungkook a nicer cake for his bday) and not for bigger issues.
@@seokiology ikr!! They are companies at the the end of the day who are just doing business. Companies don't really care even when you bring them profit.
This man went through a lot and he is really an inspiration for younger generations who are dealing self estim ,depression.... he can help you through his rap by telling his own stories...
I truly think this kind of content its really necesary to create awareness about the dangerous diets and the mental state of the Idols. But this video make me feel especially sad and triggered for some reason. I could relate so much on how he talked on vlive of how he was scared of gaining weight and how concerned he seem about the whole situation, and I was shocked of how natural those concerns were to hobi and even encouraging him ( I don't blame him either, the diet and weight loss culture in korea is super normalized and they also see the weightloss as "part of their job") But I felt more resentful when he said he was doing it for the fans. I don't believe thats a healthy reason for going throught a weight loss journey, and I like to think that there are more fans concerned about his health than for his body.
its sad to see idols being asked about their diets in their interviews, its very cultural but hopefully with kpop going more global in general, those kind of cultural habits would die down and focus would be on health and making your body strong rather than thin. not to say a thin body cant be strong but you shouldnt aim to go on a diet, but rather build a consistent diet and exercise plan that is sustainable.
please do wonyoung next! her weight looks extremely worrying especially since she debuted with ive. she's the thinnest idol i've seen in a while, her arms and legs neither have fat or muscles :( her dancing also starts to lack so maybe it even affects her physically. i'm really concerned, she's only a 04' liner
there's not much to say about her tho, the first time she was seen she was thin, and she has remained that thin since then. The only thing to possibly talk about is how she might feel pressured to remain that thin. But at the beginning that was just her body. She might honestly get the Rose and Lisa treatment where everyone just pretends to be worried because they're thin when they're like that naturally
a huge majority of the kpop industry are underweight or borderline underweight, and it all has to do with them being told from day 1 that they must be small and thin--i think almost all of them probably have body image issues from being told this constantly for years, and it really upsets me. we can really see this in suga, and it breaks my heart. and seeing jhope who is a very skinny guy talk about fat on his body...where??? i wish they had unbiased nutritionists to work with whose goals are about their HEALTH and not their aesthetics. even jk and rm who have more muscle than the others go on diets of just salad or limiting their food, which is not OK--no way you can gain or even maintain muscle without enough food! they all workout, or at the very least dance for many hours, so they require MORE calories than an average person. it is a culture that needs to change, and poor suga who already has struggled/struggles with mental health needs a healthy environment. it does seem he is doing much better now, so I am happy. i hope he keeps it up and eats whatever he wants
One day they will make it illegal to force singers , actors , performers period, to be told lose weight be thinner .. I hope somewhere someone with powers to see how awful and abusive this is mentally to any human being to put a stop to it and instead focus on health and fitness . Not drastic thin …I’ve seen them pass out just a little too much for me to be quite about it anymore!
After Suga's surgery he came back looking really healthy and really really handsome .. I hope he doesn't go on any diet and loose any more weight .. I like how he looks now .. 👍💜💜🥰🥰
This was such a great video I'm very grateful for the time and effort you put into helping us further analyse this matter which really isn't spoken about enough. As much as we might wish that yoongi finds some sort of self appreciation/self love we have to try and remember that it's up to him and his mentality. I really hope one day he understands truly just how perfect he is and stops obsessing over his features (although knetz and anti's make it almost impossible for him to live lol). it's also pretty sad that when yoongi was thinner people would shame him for it but when he puts on arguably healthy weight he also gets shamed for that
Really suga suffered lot, he looks perfect he don't need to starve himself. We love chubby Suga. I felt bad & anger yy people start criticising & give pressure to lose weight if u have this much problem then yy u not look urself in mirror. Seriously u know don't torcher idols they r also a human.
Doesn’t this just tear your heart up? These struggles are important to share. How many of us go through the same thing without the crazy microscopic criticism? So much commitment, hard work, self-improvement…and starvation. No wonder the constant “stay healthy” reminders of recent years. Bodies that work hard need to be fed well. The weight swings here that caused so much concern are what? Not even 10 pounds. So much success and still the image haunting from a few pounds. Celebrity is ruthless. God bless the supporters of healthy, long, creative, productive love-filled lives.
Whenever i see videos like this about how much struggles idols have to face with their image overall bc they don't want to upset their fans. it hurts so much because they are putting their health at risk😕
I’m considered overweight for my height/age/gender and i too skip meals because I’m too lazy to eat (it sounds so lame but its true) and i always give it my all to be active everyday and eat all my meals and i think that because i always put myself down and hate how i look that its the main reason why I don’t loose weight in the first place .🥺
I am so happy to see Yoongi healthier :). I think it would be really interesting if you made a video on Jimin too, he has had so many issues with weight and his story is so interesting.
They did make a video on Jimin and it blew up and exposed his ED and it got taken down, really don’t like this person. They expose personal information
@@dingdong-jg1ys from what i remember, amfg videos said that the jimin one and the old suga video got taken down because of copyright, not because of reports. also, they are not exposing any personal information lmao. the things said in their videos are either stuff that have been publicly stated or how the idols body changed.
i agree, jimin has struggled a lot in the past, but he seems to be doing a lot better these days. his recovery inspires me a lot so i’d love to see a video on him.
@@cristina-li5lb it’s still bringing attention to weight which is a personal thing, to me when I’m at my lowest I use these videos as motivation to get thin. It’s really no one’s business to discuss someone else’s weight. And tbh Jimin has his moments where he seems to be off again but again it isn’t my place to discuss that.
I really appreciate him for living healthier than before 2019. I was broken when start and middle of this video. Now he is working on his muscles and living strong more. I am really glad.
I hate Korean beauty standards, no matter how famous and loved they are the publics had the nerve to fat shame him?!?! After all BTS has done for them? Suga is so perfect already and still a perfectly skinny weight?
I literally cried when he was already so thin but still felt the need to diet… so happy that they’re now taking a break and I hope they can spend this time by eating all the things they want and doing every other activities they’ve been wanting to do. True ARMY’s would want nothing but the best for them, and I hope in 2022 they can continue loving themselves more and fulfill their dreams 💜💜
Good grief, this man never looks bad. No one needs to sacrifice their mental/physical health for my entertainment. If they just sang and never did the intense dancing I would be happy, as long as they are healthy.
you must have iron balls to expose your feelings like he does. I respect him for that enormously. Counting haters that idols have...the pressure and toxicity of some ppl. Cannot help admiring him.
Ahhhh I'm crying so much :( There's so much pressure on yoongi and he's been through so much, I'm so happy that he's been looking healthy recently because the clips of him talking about wanting to starve, fast etc makes me really sad
this man has NEVER been even close to fat or overweight. that’s laughable. he was veeeery underweight for most of his career, and even now that he’s finally gained (healthy!) weight he’s still pretty slim. yoongi just naturally has filled cheeks when he’s not starving himself thin - like in his 2020 era, his body would still look thin / slender but he’d have cute little cheeks. it’s a much more radiant look than how gaunt or hollowed out he’d look, especially with his already slim build.
It just the k-pop industry male idols have this impossible standard of having extremely lean build which is skinny but with muscle and abs. So anyone who have healthy amount of body fat is somewhat considered overweight. He is on perfectly healthy weight right now. By normal people standard he is quite slim, even. Yeah he have a chubby cheeks and bit of belly but it was nothing considering lots of people developed stick-out guts even in young age due to their sedentary lifestyle and overeating on junk foods
@@cryinglaughingemoji1741 yes, the standard is impossibly and unrealistically harsh - and unfortunately it’s come to the point where the general audience (fans) are swept by the standard too. they’ve associated a “slim” and “skinny” weight to a certain image and body type; not only is yoongi still thin for “normal” people’s build, he’s even still on the lighter side for male kpop idols’ industry. looking at their most recent online concerts, while yoongi’s filled out his cheeks and chest/shoulder (presumably from working out which im glad he could be doing more after his surgery), his build is still slender, especially from the neck down, and i genuinely think he’s still one of the lighter ones in bts. this industry and its fans automatically equate soft bellies / flesh / filled out cheeks as “fat” or “chubby” or of a higher weight without a realistic knowledge of how body/weight distribution works. a thin, well-defined body / jawline / abdomen is automatically equated to the “prime” body type or weight, when two different body types could very well be the same weight and equally healthy. so it’s crazy that people could think yoongi is even remotely near fat or even of a “heavier” weight, when this is by far one of his healthier weight, and even then he’s still very much on the slimmer side.
Suga is definitely naturally skinny, but to a degree. In this video it's really easy to tell when he lost a lot of weight. I will say though, I think Suga has less mass in his legs just with how his body is proportioned, so it makes him look a lot smaller wearing tighter clothes too. Either way I'm glad he's looking healthier now especially after his shoulder surgery:)
This made me realize the way all the members, in general, have talked about their body (and body image), dieting, etc and it's like idk,, It sometimes scares and kinda triggers me how they are used to it, being worried if they are fat or smth when they are already very thin, if they are bloated, chubby, saying if they are gonna gain weight in x situation and talking about starving, even recently like man you'll always look good :(
coming back to this after thinking about his birthday live, he says he's dieting and only eating once a day :( i'd like to think he's become healthier but i think he still feels like he needs to lose weight even though he's always been thin :(
and the live with him, jimin & RM -- they said they needed to diet and lose weight but jimin is thin + went through covid and surgery, i wish he didn't feel like he has to lose weight. and RM encouraged jimin by saying he had a pretty body but then said he too needed to lose weight. but RM's been bulking up so he's gaining muscle, idk why the members always think they need to lose weight when they look perfect as they are ☹️ korean diet culture is evil ☹️ okie mini rant sesh over haha
I'm glad that after his shoulder surgery, he's gone bigger than he used to before, and so happy to know when he said on their last year's festa that he's been working out with the rest of the members. I like how he looks right now. Suga's body weight now is much better and he even looked more gorgeous now. His shoulders are bigger or broader than before, that's when you'll know that he's been gaining muscles now. I wish he'll continue to have a healthy life, eat well, sleep well, work out. Then he'll get more marriage proposals as he is having right now... especially after "That That" MV released. Suga's been busy wrecking ARMYs from their biases right now. 😸😸😸
no hate, but i’m honestly so tired of the members just laughing all this self hatred off. it’s obviously serious no matter how normalized it is in korea to openly criticize someone else’s body or strive to be underweight. when you love your member that you love, it won’t be so funny anymore and all the “looking good for tv” will definitely not be worth it. and their so called “fans” are the worst if they agree that he should feel so guilty. so sad
Yoongi tell us on Vlive that he is now at one meal diet 🥺 I always tried to follow his routine when it comes to food and was happy to finally feel free to eat more and this knocked me down again 😔 he needs more healthy food manners, because just following his routine I develop some of health issues … don’t as me why I keep doing it, it comes naturally to just copy his eating manners because they was very close to mine at the start 👉👈
This breaks my heart seeing him try so hard to lose weight because the company says so knowing that he is suffering from depression, anxiety and an injury. Yes, it is part of his (and other idols') job to "look good on tv/media" but looking good doesn't mean you have to suffer and starve yourself to death. P.s. the new Yoongi look (including the ginger hair) is by far the best that I've seen him in. Hope he stays healthy and happy for a looong time. 🐱❤️
I think rm,jk,jimin packing on muscle helps suga because he has the body type that gains weight/muscle easily. If he doesnt work out it turns to fat. I hope he sees a nutritionist because he can eat its just watching what he eats thats hard.
Suga sounds like he has some serious body dysmorphia. He's already thin as a rail but calls himself fat. He literally questions himself in that VLive trying to convince himself he's not obese yet. What are you doing bighit? Get some therapist's for your artists. And now their gonna debut a girl group? Pls pray for them.
It's not body dysmorphia, it's korean society being cruel about the weight. I watched a documentary where was sad that one of the new year's wishes for koreans is to lose weight. I read lots of comments where korean americans said that when they visit korea their relatives always tell them they need to lose weight. I forgot which 2nd gen female idol was it (i read it on allkpop) but she said that everyone praised her figure during the time she was active and she was starving. She can finally now eat in peace and be healthy. Somi also lost a lot of weight for her comeback and bragged about it on instagram (she's 173cm and iirc she had 46 kilos). Later sad that she had to take iv fluids because she had no energy. She even passed out a few times. Horrible.
@@Taylorc0de no, it's not, it's their beauty standard. Their cv's have pics, among other things their employment depends on the looks too. no wonder koreans do so much plastic surgery; double eye lid surgery isn't even concidered surgery and parents gift it to their children. Light skin, v line jaw, skinny body, noses with high bridge, body proportions... I didn't even know body proportion was a thing until kpop and my language doesn't even have a word for nose bridge. It's not body dysmorphia, it's about class.
I am glad he is taking care of himself. These crazy diets are horrible. And I never thought he looked fat at all during those years. I thought he looked good and healthy at their PTD LA concert.
He was never fat. He was v skinny back then and he have healthy weight now. If he's not a kpop idol, he would be considered slim. Yes, he might have bit of tummy and chubby cheeks now that doesnt necessarily means you're overweight. Beauty standard in general is harsh, korean beauty standard even so
you can tell he bloats in the face easily/gains weight in his face first so people just assume his diet and body based on that. But if you look at his natural frame he's quite skinny/fit. He had wider shoulders than jungkook for majority of their time till jungkook got serious about working out and bulked up.
Now I know why he fainted while he was in LA for PTD concerts. The pressure to be so thin is not good. I hope he's able to let go of this thinking. The most important is to be healthy.
He looks so hot these days like damn 🔥🔥🔥. He looks genuinely happier and healthier now than he has ever looked...more so after the surgery and it makes me ☺️
He has never been fat! I believe that the Kpop industry has a lot of body dismorphia issues. The internal struggles and pressure these artist put on themselves along with the external pressure from the industry must be so hard. My heart goes out to all of them. Stay strong and healthy. 🥰
I know this isn’t a popular request but could you do one on Jungkook. I really like your videos and the amount of research you do. Jungkook isn’t one to have a drastic change apart from DNA where he looked sickly thin but other than that there are time where he mentions having extreme diets like not eating for five days
@@winkwonk3864 i hope so too!! it was worse bc some media outlets were praising jk for his determination rather than talking about how dangerous it is :(
Will you ever repost your jimin video ? You had some really good insights on our cultures lack of care for men's mental health With the rise of gym culture more men are having eds; and i feel like your video would be even more relevant
Love Suga how he has made a good comeback, yes his weight goes up and down but he know how to cope especially with his mental health issues, my granddaughter suffers the same and her weight goes up and down like his, but my granddaughter is more fortunate she hasn’t got anyone breathing down et neck to loose weight like the BTS members.
This is a message to everyone: If anyone ever tells y’all that you look fat tell them that you just eat good food. like whenever someone tells me I gained weight or I look bloated I tell them I just ate some of my mothers delicious home cooked food and they just stare at me with jealousy because I don’t have to be skinny to be healthy!!! You do you!!!! Eat whatever you want and take care of your mental health, who cares what other people say!!!! Be positive!!
I don’t understand why the company tells them to diet so often when they need food and rest to function properly or else they risk having the whole group in the hospital suffering from many mental disorders and other illnesses and seeing how much Yoongi dealt with I can only hope and pray that they all maintain good health and happiness for as long as they are together
It’s so, so disappointing that HYBE / BigHit / Bang PD asked the boys to show off their abs when they debuted as minors (by Korean age standards), made them diet (Jimin & Yoongi’s own remarks about their bodies and diets suggest they developed disordered eating & body dysmorphia), and didn’t proceed with sorting Yoongi’s shoulders out for practically a decade after debuting. They didn’t seem to have proper breaks either, although I think (might be another label idk) there was a video of maybe JK or someone saying HYBE/Big Hit let you work whatever hours you wanted rather than forcing them to work until x time o’clock. It’s also gross how fans encourage the ab flashing & crotch pops etc, when they’ve repeatedly shown they’re uncomfortable with showing their abs (even when they’ve enabled it at other times/more recently). This isn’t just Army though - there’s hypocrisy among kpop fans generally where idols are sexualised & objectifying them to the extent they do.
Am I the only who thinks when Suga gets chubby, he’s super cute with his chubby cheeks? >.< lol I guess, most people dont think so. The most important is, he’s healthy mentally and physically.
You know i like him no matter what ...everyone suffers through something but i dont like seeing our kitty suffer.. i hope he improves his love hate relationship with food. And eats alot healthier and takes care of his body.
honestly they does scare me sometimes. human body won't easyly be bloated unless you eat too much unhealthy food. the fact that they often said, they regretted eating dinner last night that they looked chubby for shooting is already alarming. you guys practiced dance 18hrs a day, worked really hard dayly, don't worry too much about gaining weight. it's normal to put a little weight guys. don't starved yourself just for people satisfaction
my sweet yoongi :( all of this breaks my heart, how all the pressure on his looks and staying thin makes me incredibly sad. my love i will love you no matter how you are, as long as you’re happy i’m happy too. eat all the food you heart desires and i will kick anybody who dares to speak about you.
Isn't he the member who cooks for the whole gang? I'd expect that he knows the best foods to make, using the best ingredients, so the entire group should be eating best.
I don't care about what others people are saying i love Suga how he looks if he looks fat i don't care i always wanted to see Suga oppa healthty and happy no matter what how fat i love him how he looks like if his fat also i don't care
Honestly I think BTS should have been getting mental help since long ago. BigHit has been starving them since debut and put the idea into Jimin's head that he was "a pig". Company stans obsessed with BigHit are the reason they never get called out. Bts be like "The company told us to drink poison and we got sent to hospital" Fans be like "The company was just trying to protect them and was so quick to take them to hospital" *claps*
I’m not defending BigHit but I do think it should be clarified that the company has a therapist that the boys seem to talk to regularly. They mentioned it in one of the Festa’s. Of course BigHit is doing a lot of shit wrong and need to sort themselves out, but I didn’t want their to be any misinformation.
Who told you they're not? We don't know the root of Jimin's self image issues. Yes during they debut they were put through harsh diets and their manager was shitty, but things have changed a lot. The boys mention that they can take days off if they need to, and actually it's them who are always praising the company and the staff's help. One thing is being a company stan and a whole different thing is being rational and understanding that BTS members are not kids.
I wish we could normalise being of “normal” weight in the entertainment industry! I love the BTS boys but I’m sure they are all underweight with the exception of maybe RM who has bulked up recently and looks to be of a healthy weight. They are already underweight for their heights but they are still worrying about being “fat”! It’s too sad. 😢 There should be a law in the entertainment industry that all idols have to be in the healthy weight range for their heights and any company that tells their idols to lose weight should be fined!
omg i always knew about Jimin but i thought suga is just skinny without trying... i didn't know he was struggling like Jimin :( they both are the slim ones tho...
I'm relieved that after he had his shoulder surgery, he looks much healthier and freer. thats more important for me, his health and happiness

@@rikhmjustsomeguywithmousta4971 trueee
I know that I like hin more than I should, but seeing him so worryingly skinny, or saying he needs to diet or being told to diet hurts so much...
he went through so much. Anxiety and depression needs to be talked about more.
I think Tiffany is the only idol I can think of who openly expressed going to therapy and encouraging it. These idols are self medicating with diets and that won't help.
G DRAGON THE KING
bts have continuously talked about the importance of therapy multiple times.
Have you ever read yoongis lyrics or interviews Lol
Yoongi has also talked about mental health and going to therapy in his songs!
The Last is the main one that I can think of rn 💜
This really shows how many of yall do NOT read their lyrics
That's why non-fans have no right to say something about Yoongi's weight. This man went through a lot. He deserves so much more. He looks healthier and happier now. I'm so proud of him.
Yoongi right now is the best he's ever looked. He is getting buff and and putting on healthy weight (like all members of bts right now) and I love it. When he's super thin it makes me sad, he deserved all the good foods💜 I know for an absolute fact that most of us Army's love yoongi when he is a bit chubby because his cheeks look so cute and squishy and ahhhh I just want to give him all the happiness in the world😭😭💜💜💜
omg ty for acknowledging this i luv u 🙄
@@myishacherry7242 um chubby and fat means slightly different... And none of it means negatively, just adjective
@@cryinglaughingemoji1741 Yes you're correct; know many don't mean it negatively at all... but where I am from chubby is synonymous with FAT. And Suga just isn't fat even after he gained more needed healthy weight
Chubby is just the sort of the cute "nicer" way of saying it. And Suga has NEVER been chubby except when he was a baby.....
im so happy to see he is healthy and his shoulder is healing

Sorry it's taken so long to update a male idol. The female requests greatly outnumber them but I think it's important not to forget lots of men also struggle with their bodies and dysmorphia in different ways too.
are u interested in doing a jimin update?
thank you for all your hard work!! 💙
Could you reupload/update the Monsta x Kihyun video?
Thank you. I was waiting for a male idol update
could you reupload the Yesung video?
i’m really surprised the tear era was glossed over. i’ve always felt that was the time frame he was at his thinnest. yoongi was unrecognisable in the face, cheeks hollow, and the thinnest of clothes would hang on him, not to mention he was so noticeably withdrawn. fans actually significantly addressed it and expressed concerns and he confessed at a fan meet that he was sick - he also very recently touched over it in an interview after being shown a picture of him during those early months of 2018. in the behind the scenes of euphoria mv featured in the 2018 memories dvd, there is a noticeable dip from his ribcage to his abdomen when he’s laying down, and that’s haunted me ever since and why i’m pointing it out - i’ve been inside a mental hospital before and seen people there with that body type clinging to life. i get why people favour yoongi of that era due to his hair, his makeup, his clothes, and even the era itself just producing amazing music and content from bts, but since i saw that clip it sometimes makes me feel ill, especially when people say that era had “the best suga”. he was very briefly at that same worryingly hollow-cheeked look for some time in the summer of 2020 as seen in some selcas, but that was a very short period in comparison to the few months of the more publicised tear era, wedged between d-2 and dynamite wherein the tannies were silently preparing for the dynamite comeback, so it’s less discussed as selcas were really the only pictures or footage of him in that time frame. i think eating disorders within the industry are very overlooked - there’s an overarching view that in order to have an eating disorder one must completely starve or vomit or know they have one or confess they have one, but many psychologists point out that extreme dieting with insecurity surrounding weight as motivation can qualify as having disordered eating habits or even in itself an eating disorder, and Many idols diet in such ways. depression can also make its victims so unmotivated they don’t want to eat and anxiety can bring on vomiting. i’m so glad his surgery has opened paths for him - now he can exercise to lose weight, he’ll hopefully feel less pressured to go on diets to lose weight, and he will not seem as sick.

@@ac444 I see! Thank u for letting me know ! I didn’t see it that way ! Maybe it could have still triggered him maybe? Feeling a burden ? :o
I hope he continues to put himself first-his mental and physical health, show himself love because that’s all he deserves and more💕💕😩😩🔥
I love these boys so much I'm glad they're finally getting a break . Fame is a double edged sword and idols end up being treated like objects.
Amen to that!!!! Pls preach louder to the people in the back, ur só right!!!!👏👈
He went through so much.he is one of the strongest person i have ever seen.but people still call him lazy
@Lm ao yes, even some armys used to call him like that.
I’m so happy to see him looking much healthier and happier these days, I really worried for him sometimes in the past
Thank you for your comment!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can relate to Suga’s weight struggles. My heart goes out to him. Such a beautiful tender soul.
People are so superficial, once someone is under the spotlight, he is instantly put on a pedestal and every single move he makes is pointed at and critiqued! Let's not forget that he is only human and he has the simple right to eat for God's sake
Give my boy a break.. 💜💜

Yes I’m curious about her. It is worrying
Fr im concerned
Yes please
I see u everywhere lol
there's not much to say about her tho, the first time she was seen she was thin, and she has remained that thin since then.
I really hope one day he understands truly just how perfect he is and stops obsessing over his features (although knetz and anti's make it almost impossible for him to live lol). it's also pretty sad that when yoongi was thinner people would shame him for it but when he puts on arguably healthy weight he also gets shamed for that
Im glad he can always open up about his feeling, which not many people with depression are able to do. It means he has already deal with himself ❣️

I enjoyed this video. It was more lighthearted compared to others.
Lots of more joking , understanding, and knowledge about weight in this one.
you must have iron balls to expose your feelings like he does.

This made me realize the way all the members, in general, have talked about their body (and body image), dieting, etc and it's like idk,,
It sometimes scares and kinda triggers me how they are used to it, being worried if they are fat or smth when they are already very thin, if they are bloated, chubby, saying if they are gonna gain weight in x situation and talking about starving, even recently
like man you'll always look good :(
15:32 i was like WHAT I DONT CARE HOW MUCH HE WEIGHTS, True Fans will love him just the way he is.
coming back to this after thinking about his birthday live, he says he's dieting and only eating once a day :( i'd like to think he's become healthier but i think he still feels like he needs to lose weight even though he's always been thin :(
and the live with him, jimin & RM -- they said they needed to diet and lose weight but jimin is thin + went through covid and surgery, i wish he didn't feel like he has to lose weight. and RM encouraged jimin by saying he had a pretty body but then said he too needed to lose weight. but RM's been bulking up so he's gaining muscle, idk why the members always think they need to lose weight when they look perfect as they are ☹️ korean diet culture is evil ☹️ okie mini rant sesh over haha
Idk I prefer slim figures
No hate
no hate, but i’m honestly so tired of the members just laughing all this self hatred off. it’s obviously serious no matter how normalized it is in korea to openly criticize someone else’s body or strive to be underweight. when you love your member that you love, it won’t be so funny anymore and all the “looking good for tv” will definitely not be worth it. and their so called “fans” are the worst if they agree that he should feel so guilty. so sad
19:46 This made me laugh so hard because it was just like when a Sim finishes their task
🤣🤣OMG yes !! So relatable too
Yoongi tell us on Vlive that he is now at one meal diet 🥺 I always tried to follow his routine when it comes to food and was happy to finally feel free to eat more and this knocked me down again 😔 he needs more healthy food manners, because just following his routine I develop some of health issues … don’t as me why I keep doing it, it comes naturally to just copy his eating manners because they was very close to mine at the start 👉👈
I’m glad his doing well :) his orange hair is the bomb. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Y’all don’t know how much I lobs this man 💜
I'm glad he looks much better today. He looks healthy and happy☺
Wahhhhh...so this...is the feeling of coming early🌝
Horrible.
@@ksica it sounds like body dysmorphia tho
@@Taylorc0de no, it's not, it's their beauty standard. Their cv's have pics, among other things their employment depends on the looks too. no wonder koreans do so much plastic surgery; double eye lid surgery isn't even concidered surgery and parents gift it to their children. Light skin, v line jaw, skinny body, noses with high bridge, body proportions... I didn't even know body proportion was a thing until kpop and my language doesn't even have a word for nose bridge.
It's not body dysmorphia, it's about class.
They already said themselves that theh do have counselors and they receive treatments..
No he does not have that. Jimin on the other hand... he even wrote a song about it "Lie".
Beauty standard in general is harsh, korean beauty standard even so
Dang the bts fans really cared as everyone was really crying after they figured out they were ill
I thought that at first too but I think they were also crying bc the show got cancelled.
@@outroseok that would also make sense, bruh, that would totally def make the members so guilty but its not their fault
This man has always been slim. Fad diets and starvation screw your body up. He is perfect just the way he his they all are.
I'm low key salty that he was a hypocrite telling fans not to diet when he is the king of dieting/starving😔💔 fame is really a double edged sword
Can you make a video for Wonyoung. She’s gotten so thin and I don’t think people can tell how much
you can tell he bloats in the face easily/gains weight in his face first so people just assume his diet and body based on that.
He never fainted ???
He fainted? Never heard of this
@@SkyGodKazuha Some Armys think the translation was misinterpreted. He said "passed out," but it was translated to "fainted." I hope, anyway......
Jungkook isn’t one to have a drastic change apart from DNA where he looked sickly thin but other than that there are time where he mentions having extreme diets like not eating for five days
ya i think he said prior to the butter mv he drank nothing but water for a week?
@@seokiology yeah, he said it was ‘fasting’ but it was starving
@@winkwonk3864 yikes he needs to know the difference and also know thats super unhealthy. i cant believe he was able to dance like that too
@@seokiology me neither, there is fasting but only drinking water for days is starving. Hopefully he knows he didn’t have to do that
@@winkwonk3864 i hope so too!! it was worse bc some media outlets were praising jk for his determination rather than talking about how dangerous it is :(
When I watched their comeback stage 2018, he Looked very fragile, thin body, and not healthy of course. Really happy to see him be healthier.
Will you ever repost your jimin video ? You had some really good insights on our cultures lack of care for men's mental health
With the rise of gym culture more men are having eds; and i feel like your video would be even more relevant
No no no Suga Man! Take it from Auntie… YOU LOOK GOOD! You look healthy! You look happy! Don’t you lose a pound! Mmmwaahh 😘
Love BTS no matter what. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy x
Now you gotta do all of them
Thanks for the good work❤️
This is a message to everyone:
If anyone ever tells y’all that you look fat tell them that you just eat good food.
like whenever someone tells me I gained weight or I look bloated I tell them I just ate some of my mothers delicious home cooked food and they just stare at me with jealousy because I don’t have to be skinny to be healthy!!!
He really came a long way ...I'm proud of him
It’s so, so disappointing that HYBE / BigHit / Bang PD asked the boys to show off their abs when they debuted as minors (by Korean age standards), made them diet (Jimin & Yoongi’s own remarks about their bodies and diets suggest they developed disordered eating & body dysmorphia), and didn’t proceed with sorting Yoongi’s shoulders out for practically a decade after debuting.
Yoongi...Please do what’s best for your heatlh . We true Army love 💕you for you.
9:40 this made me burst into tears
First!! ❤️❤️
Am I the only who thinks when Suga gets chubby, he’s super cute with his chubby cheeks? >.< lol I guess, most people dont think so. The most important is, he’s healthy mentally and physically.
SUGA💜
Suga is so great awesome gorgeous handsome cute yeah
Isn't he the member who cooks for the whole gang? I'd expect that he knows the best foods to make, using the best ingredients, so the entire group should be eating best.
Can you please do a diet video for wonyoung of
I don't care about what others people are saying i love Suga how he looks if he looks fat i don't care i always wanted to see Suga oppa healthty and happy no matter what how fat i love him how he looks like if his fat also i don't care
Honestly I think BTS should have been getting mental help since long ago. BigHit has been starving them since debut and put the idea into Jimin's head that he was "a pig". Company stans obsessed with BigHit are the reason they never get called out.
Bts be like "The company told us to drink poison and we got sent to hospital"
Fans be like "The company was just trying to protect them and was so quick to take them to hospital" *claps*
And now they're gonna debut a girl groups. Big yikes.
wasn't it jin who got called a pig?
@@armyisking5395 Girl BH is not going to debut a girl group, this is other company who is under hybe
There should be a law in the entertainment industry that all idols have to be in the healthy weight range for their heights and any company that tells their idols to lose weight should be fined!
Can you please make a video about Wonyoung from IZ*ONE/IVE?
She's always been skinny, but resently she looks even skinnier
omg i always knew about Jimin but i thought suga is just skinny without trying... i didn't know he was struggling like Jimin :( they both are the slim ones tho...
8:08 What’s the “(censored)” part?
Suga was likely referring to Selfharm or su*cide
