Mum Health Update and Alzheimer's Memory Walk

- An update about Mum, her health and dementia progression and my participation in the Alzheimers Society Memory walk, taking place in Hove
It is so hard to watch my mum deteriorate so quickly since receiving her vascular dementia diagnosis. I miss her so much, even though she is still here because dementia has stolen the mum I once knew. I saw an advert for the Alzheimers society memory walk, and I decided that it would be an excellent way to feel as though I can do something. Raising awareness, and funds for research and treatment of Alzheimer's and dementia means I can do something positive in Mums name.

Mum is wonderful.
For you it is distressing but she is blissfully unaware of her state of play.
My Father was exactly the same..
Mum is being well cared for and whether you visit or not she is in your and our thoughts.
Remember your health should be upper most important.If you are ill there will be no one to look after her needs If missing a visit keeps you well
Mum will understand.
Enjoy your walk "Oh Hove Actually" is a very beautiful place.

Her illness doesn't always portray it, but all that you do for Mumsy I can tell it means so much to her. Never think that she can't tell. It must be heartbreaking for you but a blessing that she's not aware of whats happening to her.My great Nan had Alzheimers but she was aware of it and would get so upset and sob that she was 'a foolish old woman better off dead' which was awful to hear.It sounds like your Mum has almost reverted back to being a child,and that she feels safe and comfortable where she is and doesn't want anything to change that.I think the worst part is although she's still with you in body most of the Mum you knew has been taken away by this horrible disease.I wish i could say something to make it better for you but instead I'll send all my love and best wishes to you all xx
