I like how you wrapped the paper around the screwdriver then rested it on the table. gives it a nice solid base for sanding without having to clamp the work piece.
Thanks, had to try 3 drivers to get the right size, but it ultimately worked really well I thought. But next time I'll just go straight to the small radius flap sanders on the die grinder, so much faster and easier, I was just being overly cautious with using power tools on this thing considering it cost and arm and a d!c%....LOL Just recorded an update video for this utility knife today, will do the editing and post in the next couple days.
3hours!! I think I heard a little tension in your voice during assembly lol. Nice job with taking care of the little details I blue metal laying it in wood or a pies of sheet metal The plier seem to change or absorb some the heat on the ends
Years ago I made a building for processing Titanium, also a huge table unit with a giant exhaust system for processing the Titanium on. Definitely the rough side of town, we came back after the weekend and there was a bullet hole in the building before we even had it finished.
Very cool and will probably last a lifetime. I never used a snap blade knife before. I guess I thought the blade would be weak and break off when using it.
Should last a long time, I used to think the same way about the snap blades. But I have since found them very handy. No sharpening, blades last longer, and several times now I've found having the longer blade invaluable (like cutting 2" xps foam board).
I thread locked the tiny screws, was thinking of super gluing them, did you fix yours? Done the corners so its not sharp, but everything else really needs cleaning up. Also, lube with cycle chain lube, stays in place for longer
I wasn't planning on any lube, but after a few days now, I'm either going to hit it with dry lube or a little chain lube. I'll do another video very soon about daily use and break in. Any suggestions for the video?
@@twosawacres8096 I think there is one screw missing, if the spacings are anything to go by. At the blade out end. Mine never worked well until I added the ptfe bicycle chain lube, just a dot on the blade lock and the base plate. Not cleaned mine up completely yet
The stainless stuff? I'd really like to see that. I've got an update video coming out in a few days, and am planning another one already to address the biggest problem I have with the knife (the spring gets bound with dirt/debris way too easy and locks up the slider)... Send me some photos of your stainless bluing, I'll add them to one of the videos. Email is: twosawacres@gmail.com.
@@twosawacres8096 ya I noticed that with the spring as well. Even as Lil as being in my pocket. And no I think the pieces with holes are also titanium. The stainless stuff I heated to straw color tho. Wish I could send yaa pic
I thought that too, but emailed ave, he said it could be months maybe for foreign mail, I said I can only wait until september, but then it came the next day !!!

Did not blue my titanium guides, thought it looked more understated without
AvE stands for Arduino vs Evil fun fact
Works just as well with dewalt blades (non stainless, I forget the grade), I will get the olfa next time I am in a shop that has them in stock
Pretty😊
"The paragon of materials" (stainless and titanium)
Nice

150 years for the stainless, design lifespan I would think!
Think Ave weighed the screws instead of counting, I had 2 extra screws. My screws protrude too on the back, I will sand this
I thought it was Arduino Versus Everything. Been following him for a looooong time.
I looked this up many years ago and now can't even remember. When I find it again I'll make sure to add it on the update vid for this knife.

Oh, and I didn't do any loctite yet. Paying close attention to all fasteners.

was thinking of clearcoat / laquer for jewellry to keep the shine on mine 🙂
I think it will develop a nice sheen/ patina/shine just from use, shouldn't really rust up unless it's in the element's for quite a while.
@@twosawacres8096 I have rust from the water cutting process, inside each opening on the base. Not touched it
@@jcoul1sc hmm, I'll keep an eye on those areas.
Its not a job / every day knife, its a set piece and heirloom, I'm using for sharpening pencils 🙂
I've been carrying mine, it got smother to operate, then today it got a bit jammed up. I think I'm gonna try some dry lubricant to help with break in.
@@twosawacres8096 Great success with the bicycle chain lube, water based, think its ptfe. Will try graphite oil next, when it needs it
You can blue the pieces with holes too, I did anyways 🤣

LOL, got um. Editing the next vid right now, got a great fix for the jamming problem too. Gonna add your photos, thank you.
@@twosawacres8096 I was thinking the bottom of the locking mechanism plates could use a beveling. So the thumb button is guided into the semi circles
Sure wish USPS didn't lose my package...
Dang, that stinks. My first order of stickers took 6 weeks, but this knife made it here in 10 days or so...

Would not suggest this amount of sanding, you will lose the tight tolerances, only corners need touched once assembled
I think I agree overall for the inner facing surfaces but so far it's been working well. I'll do a review in a week or so and I'll keep this in mind.
