    Best real life video I've seen so far that shows anything close to the woods I have to maintain. Thank you.

    Finally somebody who actually uses a pull behind brush hog like a brush hog instead of cutting grass in ditches like most of the other videos.

    Thanks for posting this video Grandpa! Just got ours and was out cutting tall weeds and brush to win back some of our fields and cut some trails through the trees. Very impressed at first cuts. Managed to hit a big rock and knock the clutch belt off, but hope it is an easy fix. Will find out tomorrow when I tear things apart.

    Glad you are having a good experience. I'm having nothing but trouble with my DR Power mower. The leveling brackets keep breaking. It has been in the shop twice in the last 6 months. It's also got some serious design issues with the controls. Limbs and brush keep grabbing the wires and pulling them out. If you buy DR don't buy through a dealer. The 6 month money back guarantee doesn't apply unless you buy direct. I spent $3,000 on a mower that keeps breaking down. Also, DR does not allow bad reviews on their site. That is why this mower has such high ratings. They won't post my review or others that I know of that are bad. Buyer beware!!

      Very efficient machine. But couldn't it have a better overall motor protection ? We see branches repeatedly beating the motor and all its critical components (ignition, air filtration, air cooling, ...)
      A simple sheet of metal could do the job.
      Perhaps there is no issue there, but ...

    I wish I had DR rough-cut mower. Instead, a couple months ago I purchased a Swisher brush mower which is 448 pounds and tires on the unit unable to carry the weight effectively. First time mowing and had a flat. Following day, noticed the other tire was half deflated. Also, drinks gasoline fast. Furthermore, raising and lowering and leveling machine complicated. One last thing, due to only two flimsy, small wheels to support mower; I found that scalping ground with mower blades happens on rough ground. My previous brush mower with four wheels mowed the same area and never ever scalped the ground.

    I bought the 20 horsepower version of this and Im impressed what it will cut, and its built like a tank.The inflatable rear tires need to be foam filled though. And the original battery is junk.

      I got the same one. Love it. Replaced the battery the first year. It died at my property so I just strapped a car battery to it to finish.

    Hmmm I was thinking of going with a 60” brush but now after seeing how efficient they are cutting brush/saplings I am wondering if I should stick with a smaller one so it can more effectively be used in the woods. Then I can plan on getting a larger flail down the road.

      I'm very satisfied with the mower, the only complaint I have is the cord was not too short. It got ripped out by the atv tire. I repaired it twice, then I lengthed it and haven't had any problems since.
      I still recommend it.
      Thanks for the question.

    • @DisasterInExile
      @DisasterInExile 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought more securing loops for the wire. I also give it a few wraps around the tongue. I zip tie it to my wheeler. If the cord gets snagged it comes unplugged. No damage.

  • @robc.5745

    That's the main problem with having a large property, When it get's harder and more expensive to maintain.

    • @leisurefields
      @leisurefields 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You just need to realize it’s an investment. Take the time to keep it up, or get some goats to help. If you buy it and just leave it, it may cost you more to bring it back to a usable state than what it’s worth.

    Hey there O.G., thanks for posting this. I'm on the hunt for something like this, and you've presented a great product demonstration. What kind of power (engine CC size) do you recommend on a 4-wheeler to drag this around, on mostly level ground? Now that you've had it one year, any other feedback to share?

    • @ozarksgrandpa5885
      @ozarksgrandpa5885  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think you need much power as far as cc I don't know. It has worked out well for me. Two problems that have come up, the cord got ripped out by one on the atv tire. I repaired it and then lengthed it so I could move the control box to the handle bars. Also had to extend the mount on my atv so I can turn sharper. I still think it was a good investment. I was using it this morning... Thanks for the comment help it helps.

    • @DisasterInExile
      @DisasterInExile 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just make sure you have low gear. I burned a clutch on a scrambler 500. Now I use an 800. But my 400 will pull it in low fine.
      The cord is a pain, but it normally has no issue. Just tight turns. I've pulled the cord out without noticing and had to go back for the controller. Now I secure the controller to the wheeler with zip ties.
      I had an issue moving it around on my trailer. One of the chains got caught on a front tire grease zerk. I just raised the outside chains by a link. DR called me back right away on that one. Said they couldn't replicate it. It happened.

    • @ozarksgrandpa5885

      The mower is still good, the cord was too short for use with my quad, I ran over the cord twice. I lengthed the cord, that fixed that...
      I would buy it!

    I have their Stump grinder I'm pleased with only 10 hrs on it, WAY overpriced, personally I would NOT want one of these with a electric clutch setup, when they go out they are $300.00 + good luck with it, would LOVE to have some close photo's of the wiring under the choke key switch, LIKE that setup with minimum amount of wiring. GLAD your dog didn't get his eyes knocked out by flying debris when you engaged the blade !

    I want to know the YEAR/MODEL/SIZE/BRAND of the ATV, are you satisfied with it's use & service? I need to get one for the same type stuff, does the valves have to be adjusted on yours??

    How do you go thru stuff that doesn't have a trail first? Running over that stuff with atv would bust up a headlight and scratch the heck out of me and the atv.

    • @ozarksgrandpa5885
      @ozarksgrandpa5885  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a overgrown trail to start with, yes did scratched up a little but my quad did a good job going over the brush.

    Time 9:15 shows the control panel with the throttle & key switch, mine had a tree fall on it & totally warped the panel the throttle & key mounts in, CAN'T get one from DR it appears, ANYWAY I could get you to pop out your switch & throttle and make me a pattern where I can make me one??? You know maybe take it off the machine & put a piece of paper under it & draw it out for me??
