  • The creative task for Day 3 is to discover a new type of mark or pattern!
    🎨 5-DAY Creative Elements Challenge 🎨
    🌿 Access the supply list 👉 geni.us/INKCd
To keep things interesting, try using alternative tools such as twigs, feathers, sponges, palette knives, or items from around the home.
For paint, I am using Daler Rowney FW Ink in Antelope Brown, instant coffee, and teabags. If you prefer, you can use watercolour, acrylic, or any other supply.
This is a fun exercise and always a good one for loosening up and getting outside of your comfort zone.
When you have finished the exercise, take a moment to notice if there is a type of mark or pattern you want to incorporate more often into your work. If you want to keep going, how about adding some marks to your backgrounds from Day 2?
I love seeing your work under the hashtag #creativeelementschallenge. It's all so inspiring!

I’ve recently subscribed & have been enjoying your videos! As a newbie in general, but particularly in mixed media style art - I was wondering if you can watercolour over the top of your inks?? I know very little about using acrylic inks, but noticed from your ‘favorite supplies list’ that you love to use them within your pieces of art… I love seeing your cat pop into your videos 😻🐈‍⬛😽

Such a beautiful and inspiring challenge! As always your videos encourage me to try too! Your house and garden is so warm and inviting. I feel like I’m right there with you! Not only is your art beautiful but you are a beautiful person and you look so beautiful too! Your face is always glowing and vibrant. If I may ask, kind of a funny question but what make-up do you use? It looks so natural!

Hi Denise, thanks for such a lovely comment. I'm glad that you find the videos encouraging. You absolutely can give this a go! I totally relate to the question about the make-up, I always think things like that too and I am delighted that you feel my face is glowing 😊 who doesn't want that!! As far as what I use, I've been using Nars Sheer Glow foundation in the shade Deauville for years. I also have a pretty good skin care routine and try and get good sleep!

I must be psychic! My jar of coffee is almost empty, so when I made my cup, I added hot water to the remainder to use in my art & to stain some fabric and paper. I love the marks made by the twig, it looks so natural & earthy. 😊
