Sarah Geronimo at the Trinoma Mall. Philippines.

There is normally always something going on at the malls on the weekends. This weekend we went to Trinoma Mall and Sarah Geronimo was there. She had a lot of fans that came to see her and after wards tons of people were in line getting autographs.

+Raymond Huffman After she was done there was a huge line of people going up and meeting her!! :) There is normally something going on at a mall here in Manila but this was probably the biggest turn out that I have seen for someone singing in a mall.

Filipinos have an obsession with rags-to-riches stories. That explains why rags-to-riches "stars" like that girl are very popular.

I doubt that they belong to the middle class with that definition.
Nevertheless, rags-to-riches doesn't necessarily mean one has to be extremely impoverished at the start, like one doesn't have to be extremely wealthy at the end. It's an idiomatic expression denoting climbing up the ladder of material wealth.
