      Pinkbike what size is the new bike in the video? Is it a small 650b? Thanks!

    • @pinkbike

      Not sure on this one - likely to be a medium though, that's normally the size they have on show. I would go check out out in real life if you are unsure.

    So many propriety parts may be a turn off for some but I honestly think some of their ideas are awesome. eg. SWAT storage inside the down tube is super unique and something that nearly every rider would seriously love to have.

    It's mental. I started mountain biking back in 95, and the bikes then were never any where nearly as expensive as they are now, and we blatantly had as much fun. Nowadays it's just money making bullshit, and the companies make punters feel like the improvements they have made are worth the rip off prices. Give me a 97 Gt zaskar and i'll have just as much fun! Must be getting old

      I still have my Proflex Anymal. 20 years old:) It become my commute-beater bike for last 5 years . All original parts. In 1997 it was 2+k bike. I think considering inflation should be about 4-5k in todays money. Good bikes are not cheap. Anything under $1500 today is garbage. It is sad.

    chain tool 'more conveniently located now' LOL. to who? to rocks? Also, specialized changed the geometry so quickly because it makes people want to upgrade only after 1 year. simple as that. sell more bikes. They designed this bike in 2015 knowing the previous design will only have 1 year life. it's strategic to make people want to upgrade.

    • @rogerneilson6758
      @rogerneilson6758 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's only strategic to ppl who NEED 10 mm extra reach. You can buy the yoke and spacer at LBS for 2017 models to have geo adjust which is pretty nice of them to offer. They coulda designed differently to strategically push ppl into wanting geo adjust

    • @rogerneilson6758
      @rogerneilson6758 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      It's the fault of spec sheet consumers buying bikes based on HTA and reach. Making every manufacturer constantly change their bikes into a pseudo DH until no longer a trail bike and they stop making it. Used to be a long and slack bike called Status n they stopped making it. Now Enduro is turning into that bike and Stumpy is borderline enduro (not cap Enduro) specs and Camber is now what Stumpy used to be. 10 yrs from now Enduro will be gone and Stumpy will be long and slack and Camber will be borderline enduro specs and Specialized will have introduced a new mid travel bike...

    • @metalbass62

      Roger Neilson I miss the status that thing was a beast!

    • @rodrigopages1054
      @rodrigopages1054 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      what they should do is bring back the status as their full gravity enduro modern bike with both 29 and 27.5 metric shock boost spazing for hubs threaded bb a more standard seat tube diameter like some people at specialized are actually dumb...
      and then just keep the enduro roughly how it is right now and just build the 2019 stumpjuper evo on a cabron frame

  • @Duraltia
    @Duraltia 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    @00:58 Kinda like how US companies only then use the metric system when it's more convenient to throw _bigger_ numbers at the audience.
    0.4-0.6" Meh...
    1-1.5cm Good, but not quite.

    Hey Vernon, do some investigative work to confirm this, but I heard that Specialized had a shop fire and the molds for the Enduro were destroyed. Hence the reason for re-design as they had to make new molds anyway.

      You are right but everybody that buy the enduro 2014 to 2016 now the geometry is much different, I always feels that the first enduro 29 should be more slacker and a little more longer top tube for more wheel base and they done that, kind of piss me off when my enduro climbs better than goin downhill.

    They redesigned it 1 year later as the 2017 29 was a bad bike, I test rode it in the spring, unstable to the max, twitchy, poor suspension action, I read several reviews that said the same thing, I couldn't believe that a big company like spesh could screw up a bike that bad, made for enduro racers or something, hopefully they fixed it for 2018.

    • @RacingRalphEVO
      @RacingRalphEVO 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul Davies Yeah I was thinking like you recently. I have 125mm drop and a the seat slightly angled towards the front, for better climbing. Unfortunately it makes it harder to move back-front. More drop is a sollution, but sometimes it won't fit. 170mm wouldn't fit on my bike with my saddle height, 150 maybe. Also more drop with those thin stanchions on dropper posts is cringe.

      7mm drop is actually quite a big difference. Most brands seem to go around 10mm-15mm drop on a 27.5 bike - so if you can alter it 7mm that's quite significant.
