In the year 1864, samurai Kenshin Himura was known as the Battosai, a deadly assassin whose fierce swordsmanship has killed over one hundred men in one year. When he saves a young woman, Tomoe Yukishiro, from some thugs at an inn, the two slowly begin an attraction that leads to a marriage. This leads Kenshin to potentially give up his sword for the sake of love. However, those who are in support of the Shogunate will not let Kenshin off too easy. The story of how Kenshin received his trademark star-shaped scar is revealed in this prequel, which also serves as the final installment of the live-action franchise adaptation of the manga and anime.

This movie series didn't disappoint.. unlike the Dragonball Z adaptation..
Literally grew up on this...Samurai X was one of my fondest childhood memories

This scene is depicted wrong, Akira want to live for Tomoe. He would not get up to do suicidal attacks on Kenshin if he were to left by Kenshin as in this scene. In anime OVA, he was forced to fight for his life, since Kenshin would not go away just because he fall on the ground and confirm the kill.

This is the last part of the movie. It was released at the last to show the reasoning behind Kenshin's change and why Enishi wanted revenge. This was released at the last for the purpose to answer every questions fan had. The beginning was the end of Battosai and the rise of a Kind Samurai who we saw in 4 movies before this.

The fans are very attached to it, and the producers and the leading actors were convinced that they could make it perfectly from the experience of the four works, so they produced it at the end.
