To avoid any confusion... "The 1989 World Tour" is just the name of the tour. This performance happened in 2015, as it is stated in the description and on the video itself (0:13). Why is that the name? Taylor named her fifth studio album, "1989", after her year of birth, therefore, that was the name given to her forth headlining tour, in support of this album. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
and Taylor named her album "1989" because it symbolized two things about the album's direction: 1. That the music in the album is inspired by 80's synth-pop 2. And that this is her first album to be promoted as a pop album. (Her previous album, Red, can be interpreted as pop but it wasn't promoted as such.) Her switch from country to pop showed a rebirth of her artistry, so that's why she used her birth year.
Thank you I saw Alanis Morissette tonight and American idol and couldn’t figure out call Taylor Swift was performing a concert in 1989 considering she was born in 1989
Taylor was right. The advent of Alanis Morissette is one of the most pivotal singer/songwriters of her (my) generation. She was HUGE in the late 90s. Great to see her still getting her props. And also what a voice...
Every generation needs a female singer to provide the masses with the stellar breakup anthems for every single "Let's go out and party the pain away!" weekend everyone can sing along to. Carly Simon led to Alanis Morissette led to Taylor Swift led to Olivia Rodrigo..
That was not her first scene in the industry. First huge break and international. They tried her in pop in Canada, was ok. This was her reinvesting herself and shows that she was right and the label was wrong in what works for her
Definitely Iconic when you sell over 36 million albums on the Jagged release DURING ITS RUN ON THE CHARTS. As to what the tally is now, obviously higher... On a more pertinent point, she is a rarity, and it exudes when she opens her mouth both intellectually and musically.
Alanis has been my ride or die favorite artist for 17 years, but I love all kinds of music, Taylor included. Seeing them together is great, and I like hearing Taylor sing like this. She sound great when she lets loose like in the chorus. And Alanis still sounds like she did 25 years ago, which is saying something. Love this!
How hard would you try, if you were standing next to the raw power that is Alanis? She's a monster vocalist. Taylor needed to bring her A game, or get upstaged. I noticed Alanis mic was a little quiet, probably because shes so loud and powerful. Dynamite comes in small packages. Reminds me of Pat Benatar.
Alanis.. One of the best live performers ever.. I still go back and watch her Unplugged performance from time to time. Matter of fact now might be another one of those times..
Alanis was my favourite growing up, now Taylor is sitting pretty among the favourites, folklore opened up the door for me to her music and I haven't looked back since
This is the best performance with Alanis I've seen so far. Taylor's and Alanis' vocals just seem to go together so well! Best introduction of Alanis' contribution to the female artists!
I love both Taylor Swift and Alanis. Jagged Little Pill got me through high school and college. Even though I was in elementary school when Jagged Little Pill came out.
i truely and deeply respect Miss Taylor Swift and would love to attend her concerts! But bringing Alanis Morrisette to the stage performing one of the the biggest songs is mesmerizing
Alanis and Shania gave me so much comfort when I was in university in the 90’s. They helped me study, they helped me emote, they helped me deal with a bunch of stuff happening at the time. And they made me feel so proud to be a Canadian 🇨🇦 And now, as a woman in my late 40’s, I’m enjoying watching what Taylor is doing because she is an absolute legend in her own right. This performance was amazing.
36 million albums were sold on that release by the time it faded off the charts. It took another Canadian female to break that sales record and it was Shania's 'Come On Over'. Good choice!
@@TC-dw6wg who are you implying is not a star of today? Taylor Swift? is on Elvis and Michael Jackson level of stardom... she is super talented and a great role model for young people everywhere. It can be incredibly healing to just let it all out, accept your flaws and give yourself permission to just be YOU.
