    John your skill and speed are something to behold - all workers could learn a lesson in efficiency, and that working fast is what working hard truly is. How you built that company back up (your story about the xwife taking, and starting over etc) is really inspiring.
    A great no BS company.

    As someone who sews on an industrial machine John, I'm blown away by your speed, it would probably take me an hour plus and it wouldnt look as nice. I love watching these sewing vids. Thanks

      200 bucks but it's worth it. Takes as much labor as making 3 regular edc belts.

    hey John, have you ever thought of making watch straps out of your scraps?

    • @Gman-109
      @Gman-109 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +ptriq I like that idea - a lot actually. I know John has an affinity for watches - so do I, just not as many or as much as him, my Rolex stainless sub is the max I can likely every go. But I do have some Gshocks and a couple Luminox I'd like to get new or better straps for, and SOE stuff is always tough as hell. I'd buy whatever he came up with in that regard.

    Takes 15 minutes to physically put together but 30 years of experience to design it make it and build the company that produces it I don't understand why people who want to buy once cry once always wind up crying over the price of well made products

    Should set up a type of roller pole guide with a brake on end for rolling out fabric. Then have it square to the table with guillotine arm similar to paper cutter at end of table for re-squaring up fabric.

    It took me 3 days to make mine as I sewed it with an awl . I would say to people who say it only takes 15 min to make . Well go spend a few grand on a sewing machine and equipment and then you can make your belt in 15 min . only that belt would cost them thousands .

    Fuck folks who think something has to take forever to be worth something. I work forna plumbing supply and folks always come in and say that they got pissed at their plumber for charging 800 bucks for the 30 minutes to change their water heater. It's not how long it takes, it's the ability to do the job. They change them so fast because they've done enough of them to have a fluidity to it.

      give them a torch and some solder, let them char their dry wall, then quote them the price.

      +9milnoob $800.00 is very cheap down here in Louisiana its $ 1,350 - $1,450 depending if its gas or electric . But you are right if every thing goes smooth we're done in about 1/2 - 1-1/2 depending on how long it takes to drain the old one .

    • @CDEN308
      @CDEN308 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Mattice if Johns wearing them i have a feeling there high quality

    • @ce4130
      @ce4130 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ryan Mattice I've got the same trousers in the same colour and also the dark blue. I'm a tall, lanky fella and the fit is really good. They look to have a pre-articulated cut at the knee so are geared toward a bit of action. One of the knees and a rivet on a back pocket blew out pretty quick though. The olive colour looks like it is the perfect average of all the colours in multicam, it matches really well.

    • @ce4130
      @ce4130 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ryan Mattice The other thing is that the colour is only on the outer side of the fabric, like denim, which means they develop a nice patina after a bit of wear, down side is that a smart phone will leave a hell of a rectangle wear mark on the front of the pocket.

    Please tell me that shirt is meant ironically... the upper font is imitating Devanagari, the script for writing Sanskrit and several other languages, originating from India, its people being Hindu who have nothing to do with Jihad or Islam. If meant as an inside joke okay, but if not the joke's on you :D

    • @Ununs3pt1um
      @Ununs3pt1um 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pointing it out here should suffice I'd say and it makes for a great gauge to check people's education, too. Might get one of these myself :D

    • @Ununs3pt1um
      @Ununs3pt1um 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      0:32 and of course I've seen the shirt before, there's plenty of online stores that sell it. You can be mad all you want, but associating Hindu writing with Islam/terrorism is the equivalent of liberals talking about "assault weapons" and just pure nonsense. I think people concerned with combating terrorism should be capable of recognizing Arab writing, which is an Abjad (consonants only) written from right to left and not confuse it with an Abugida (syllables) such as Devanagari, which also comes from a completely different culture. I think someone just had a lazy day and was googling for some "oriental" font to make his shirt.

    it may take 15-20 minutes to make one but you need to have the knowledge and skills. that's what we're paying for. $OE

    • @jjfaughn
      @jjfaughn 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joe Thacker exactly. Time is money so your not paying for the belt really, your paying for the 30 years it took John to perfect that belt. Like kydex guys. Most guys start off and think they have a great product and then 10 years down the road when they are still making holsters they look back on those first few holsters and think "good god and I actually thought it was a good product at the time"

    • @MichaelBlocksom
      @MichaelBlocksom 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only that, which is priceless in itself. but material cost. The buckle. The belt itself. The thread. The Velcro. The cordura in this case for the wrapped belt.
