    Glad I found your video. I've been trying to figure out a simple way of building a pull and tilt drawer. This has just made life easier for me! Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the idea and plans! Just finished mine for my 5th gen 4runner and works great. I'll be posting a video soon for the walk around but it allowed me to use a lot of the wasted space near the roof line and fit more drawer space underneath. Thanks for sharing!

    The fridge slide they make for my fridge costs a couple of hundred dollars. If you want the tilting version it's ridiculous! This is a great idea!

    Great idea. You might want to consider also including a lock of some sort on the forward end while the fridge is stowed. Having that little piano hinge as the only attachment point in the event of a rollover or accident seems like it could be dangerous.

    Love the design. I'm considering doing this with a sideways mounted fridge. The principle would be the same, just that the tilting would be around the short side axis. Seems like it should work as well. Thoughts?

      @@shaweehillsworkshop4226, Hey SHW! I have not. I do have all the parts and the fabric sewn up. My problem is that I still have to modify my roof rack to accept it and with all this Covid stuff going on, it's gonna be delayed for a few months. I will post pics on your Facebook page when done though. On another note, I did build myself a slide/tilt fridge mount that you inspired me to do. I will post it on your page. Keep up the great work!

    Love it mate. How does it go for eg incline up hill and over road bumps etc, does it lift up and bang much? I bought the cheap 4wd supacentre slide, am thinking of laminating a sheet of ply to the underside of titan slide, piano hinges onto that and onto the drawers of course then using an elastic strap of the sorts to prevent my fridge from over tilting when i need it too, but am trying to think of something to hold the back off the fridge & slide down in place without movement when i dont need to access it.

    Can you make a drop down fridge slide? With plans they cost more than a fridge! Great design, just needs reinforcing for use in Australia, they’ll last about two trips here.

    Cool design. Did you thought about to take a shorter slide with over travel and have it extended full. I guess in this case you would not need to have to limit the travel. Then you would only need a strap or damper to limit the tilt.

    Hi great videos thanks for sharing. Just wondering if there is a reason that the tray is in the middle of the side rails and not flush with the bottom of them.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, If I would have mounted them flush with the bottom of the tray, there would have been a huge gap between the bottom of the tray and the platform, I wanted the gap to be around 1/4"

    This is great and I've been trying to think of a simple solution to a tilt. I had a previously designed one, but really didn't like it. I like the simplicity of yours, but how does the mount survive bumpy conditions? I would want to be able to secure the rear of the base when all closed and locked, but I can't think of a way to do it...

    Hey mate,
    Great video and fridge slide! Just wondering if its necessary to have a tailgate or an area for the fridge to rest/take the weight once it's tilted down or could you have it tilted not leaning on anything? Ive got a Wrangler and I don't think ill have the deck space for it to rest on once its tilted down...Awesome idea!

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you don't have a tailgate you will need to add limiting straps in the back so that it only tilts so far.

    • @Lingers24
      @Lingers24 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      SHAWИEE HILLS WORKSHOP alrighty then. And you think that’ll hold the weight alright with no major dramas? I have a 42L fridge so not too big

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Lingers24 there shouldn't be much weight on it. You want the fridge to come out just past the center of gravity so that you can lift it with one finger so there shouldn't be much tension on the straps if done properly.

  • @dougmarbourg

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JJ I think it can so long as you get appropriate rated slides for the amount of weight you plan on carrying.

  • @CrackDealinCroc

    I noticed that the fridge rests on the tailgate when extended and tilted. I can imagine for those who have a vehicle without a tailgate (myself included) can just add another limiting strap or two to the rear of the shelf and attach them to the top of the drawer system to prevent the fridge from tilting straight vertical.

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CrackDealinCroc exactly, I don’t remember if I mentioned it in the video or not, but I know I addressed it in the plans.

    Does that much of a tilt affect the fridge compressor at all?

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the refrigerators are designed to be in a vehicle that is going up and down hills on and off road. Each manufacturer has a limit of tilt, so you will want to check with your manufacturer to make sure its okay.

    Doesn't the a fridge need keeping upright due to the refrigeration gas/fluid?

    • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
      @shaweehillsworkshop4226  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Desert Breeze no, the manufacturer allows 30 degrees of tilt. This fridge is made to be in a vehicle that may go up and down hills. Also, there is a light that tells you if the compressor is running or not. Personally I don’t tilt it if the compressor is running just for extra precaution
