The position lights were used as visual IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) indicators and in different combinations (colors of the day for example). Sometimes they would flash code to other aircraft and ground observers. Great build, love the attention to detail
Lovely kit and great work. Looks like typical 90's Tamiya, simple enough, great fit - a good blank canvas to concentrate on the painting and weathering.

Tamiya never fixed the incorrect cockpit floor . It shouldn’t be solid but 2 foot troughs .
