Hi Alan, what an epic session this one, absolutely stunning stuff. Very happy for you, and inspirational for us . Thanks for your great work 👍 👏 😀 🤗🤗👋👋
Those 2.75 inch paddle tails in glass monkey are worth trying for the Bass and Estuary Perch up in the river around Werribee as well, Allan from Munroes originally designed that colour to replicate the galaxias in the river!
Great episode Alan! I've just picked up a 2500 Vanford and teamed it up with a Shimano Anarchy 702. It's lighter then my 1000 Twinpower on a Shimano inshore revolution (weight wise). I love using ultra light gear. I'm running 5lb braid and 6lb leader on my 1000 twin power and 8lb braid with 10lb leader on my Vanford. P.s love your Yak set-up btw!
Thanks Andy !! The Vanford and Anarchy setup is very nice and also great performance for the price. Yeah the yak is pretty awesome setup these days. Thanks for watching !!
My Super Ultralight rod is only 68g and reel is 155g... MHX SUL 1-4lbs 0.8-3.5g lure wt.. 5'0". Custom built rod.. single leg SiC rings... Reel is a Pflueger Patriach 9525.
Great vid mate! Love tailor .. I’ve had a lot of them latch onto my finger and hand when I’m overexcited trying to grab it off the yak floor or pulling the hook out.. they draw blood every time .. sharp gnashers! Awesome stuff champion.
Wow thats incredible about the Tailor, they can be super aggressive sometimes with those sharp teeth. ill have to be more careful next time, was just excited to get one. .
Bit late to the party, But my ultra light setup is around 135-140 grams (just a hair under 5oz) Graphite 6'6 okuma covert-x 1-3kg with the skeleton style grip rod paired with a 500 size okuma odt-ceymar running 2lb braid and normally a 3-8lb leader depending on the conditions of the area im fishing, The largest fish caught and landed on this setup was a 73cm dusky flathead pretty close to 3kgs ..took about 10-15min to land and release Edit: i normally use either a 1/0 or 2/0 cirlce hook or a similarly sized J hook, chicken thigh marinated in garlic and parmasen cheese left in the fridge for a week is my go to bait, with this ill cut it down into 1cm or so cubes for the circle hooks and 1-2 inch strips for J hooks, every trip out i catch somthing as soon as the bait hits the water haha
Great video mate. So good to see that estuary pack so many different, healthy species. I had a look at the area last week. Do you launch/park at the concrete ramp or the little beach area closer towards the boats? Going to pick up a Vanford 1000 today for my new zodias and I can't wait to try there. Keep up the great content.
If you are into Bait Casting BFS, My lightest rod is the Kuying Teton TTC 510S Limited Edition 0.3-3g 1-3lb and it weighs about 47g..and I pair it with my Shimano Aldebaran 16 which weighs 130g... 😜 My lightest Bait Finesse setup.
My Yamaga Blanks Blue Current III 6'9" UL is 66 grams. I'm not concerned as much for weight but I run a 2018 Exist (6# braid) and the current Tatula (4# flouro) both in 2000 size on that rod. I believe your rod is a little more stout though, thus the weight difference.
Thanks Ange, Nah the rod wouldnt be great for squid fishing. You would want something longer and a big stronger for that. Something like a NS Blackwater, Shimano Spehia or Daiwa Emereldas.
Awesome looking little rod. Also check out the Shimano soare XR. They are a jdm ultra finesse rod but you can import them. Hopefully they will be released here soon.
@ Infamousfpv The shipping costs are definitely a killer but I bought a Soare XR anyway. I wasn’t happy with the Tcurve, they’re quite heavy in the hand compared to the JDM stuff and I can’t stand cork grips. The Soare is definitely a very light rod compared to a Tcurve though, it’s not the sort of rod to be working fish out of oyster racks or heavy cover. Mine will be purely for flats fishing. Above all things my reason for purchasing the rod was Spiral X Core technology. After using rods with this tech it’s hard to go back to X45 or X5 blanks in my opinion.
That looks like great fun, but just a quick question, why are your salmon and tailor not pulling much? Where I fish we will have salmon around your size your catching and they pull so damn hard while I have a 9ft rod 20lb braid, and 5kg drag on them?
What a cracking video and been looking at one of them Rods. Done see any of them over here in the uk so that’s one reason why I would like one. Something different…. How’s the rod been since you’ve had it ??? Can you recommend a supplier ?? Some lovely fish and well done. All the best 👍😁🎣🎄
Thanks John. yeah the rod has been really good. You just need to be so careful with it as the rod tip is so thin and brittle. I take extreme caution when travelling with it, but it feels nice and handles well. Maximus rods on there website I believe has a list of global suppliers. In Aus we only had 1 local supplier so wasn't easy to source but i agree its nice having different stuff
@@fishingmad much appreciated buddy. I’m just waiting for a supplier in Europe to get back in touch with me to let me know what the shipping will be. There is nowhere in the UK at the moment. Subscribed anyway and been enjoying watching your videos. Tight lines all the best for the New Year 👍😁
Hey Alan! heading down to Lorne pier this weekend wanting to try out swim baits for the first time would you suggest using them for different fish such as salmon, snapper and any other fish that might go for em? cheers!
Yeah swim baits can be fun, Lorne pier can be tricky as you are so elevated from the water level. You get salmon, pinkies and flathead down there just make sure the swim bait isnt to large
Hey Alan why don't you release another vide going even more extreme? There are lighter stuff on the market, particularly the rod. 155g reel is pretty light
Happy to. I though the gravity micro jig and Favourite black swan were pretty light. Have you got some suggestions on lighter rods I should look at. I'm only aware of a couple any lighter then that.
@@fishingmad Abu Garcia Eradicator. 57g for the 6'10 and 62g for the 7'6. But this is going into a direction where you might struggle landing the salmon in this video. Also it's slow taper which you might not be a fan of.
Maximus rods are killer I have a few in the stable, I work closely with dale from rodzilla up here in Qld. Might need to add one of these to my collection
@@fishingmad yeah its a whole other level,my mates call it my stunt fishing outfit. I have quite a collection of light and ultra light gear. Personal best is 93 cm Barra on 4lb pretest mono
Always tempted by an ultra ultra light rod - had a look at these and noted that parent company is Russian .......... I think I'll give this a miss at this time
my evergreen 7ft light rod is only 55 grams with a 2500 sf exits 140 grams under 200 grams combine with the line 6 pound braid on it .. crazy how they can make rods and reels this light now but they have a heavy price tag
Quite the variety of fish, going yo be a few more days before we get some nice conditions like that again. Nice little spot.
Hi Alan, what an epic session this one, absolutely stunning stuff. Very happy for you, and inspirational for us . Thanks for your great work 👍 👏 😀 🤗🤗👋👋
Thanks Mario, I really appreciate the kind words and support !!
Awesome fishing Allen, looks like a lot of fun & light gear. Great video 🎣👍.
Thank you David !!
Ultralight setup is absolutely enjoying

Agreed they are brilliant, thanks for getting me onto them !!
absolutley love my little 1000 vanford! only reel i have that still feels exactly as it did when new
Yeah the Vanford 1000s are awesome little reels. Great value, equally as good as some of my other high end stuff

Thanks Jared, yeah it was an awesome session on the light stuff with lots of variety
Very Nice Setup... I have the Vanford 1k as well really like the drag.
Yeah the drag on those little Vanford 1000 are awesome

Beautiful conditions. Who is delivering coffee on the water?! 😆
A good mate of mine, usually on the water with me is like a portable coffee shop.
I asked myself that same question! Maybe a new business venture. A floating coffee pontoon.
Abu Garcia Eradicator Realfinesse is the lightest production rod i know of, if u can still find them (52-57g)
Thanks Bryce. Ill look into and see if I can find one. 50+ grams sounds incredible.
