Especially Mic. The way he fingerpicked both his acoustic and electric bass...amazing. He had such a flair even when playing the most simplistic of riffs and the most complicated of bass solos.
One of the few times my digital camera recorded a live show well, I'd think because it was balanced and mixed to not be too loud for the acoustic set. Glad you enjoy
Every time I heard the Irving Plaza sets I'm just astounded at the level of audience participation. I can't imagine how rewarding it must feel for Claudio hearing everyone singing his songs back to him, beautifully and perfectly. You don't have Faint of Hearts from this do you?
Sadly know, I regret not taking more videos, especially after seeing these...the acoustics came out too perfect given my digi camera being garabage for live sets....the live electric set...forget it, this concert when it went into electric flipped into bi-polar high intensity mode... :D glad you enjoy what I have thou.
Well, I think it was two months, but I hadn't realized that until I went to see their concert in Vegas on the 25th of July. I talked to Mike for a while, and he told me a bit about it. Chris Pennie, though not Josh Eppard, is an amazing drummer. Mike told me about how he and Chris have solos together, when he and Josh never did. They were amazing together at the Hard Rock. Chris is a lot better of a technical drummer, but yeah, I did not know at the time Mike had come back for good.
Dude I just saw them on 5/30 in PA and the instruments sound soooo good. Claudio's voice is better than ever but the guitar is crazzyyy. they did like a 20 min. solo and then a 20 min drum solo it was redic.
@shaneDaShamma55 I hear ya, he fits in nicely, just the overdrive or volume could go from 7 to an 8 if the guitar and drums are at a 9 on the decibel meter
yaeh i do believe because theier orriginal stuff when they were shabute from claudios side project that was called coheed and cambria that was all acoustic that kinda turned into the prize fighter inferno
@Smurff311 i saw them live 3 times, and each time they made mic louder then everyone else and he drowned them out to the point where i couldent hear anyone else
In the video for The Light and The Glass at the Starland Ballroom I think he's using an Ovation electro-acoustic. I say this because I have one and it looks exactly like mine. But yeah, in more recent times, I guess he's had the cash to splash on a Taylor :)
what do u mean i love the old coheed and the new the onli song of theres i dont really like is feathers but every other song they have ever done right down to keeping the blade isbeautiful
I think some of their songs are better played accoustic than they are normally. This is definitely one of them... i know both are good, but i feel like some songs emphasize their playing, and those sound good normally, but the songs that rely more heavily on his vocals are better acoustic.
I read your comment and reasoning for the "sound" to be more reliable and safe...but just don't think its the case given his voice with the tuning of guitar will make that big of a difference. Easier for him to play the songs on guitar if theyre tuned down yes...easier to sing, I dont think its reflected.
I'm still a huge fan of the band, but in my opinion, Josh Eppard had a very unique style, and I loved it. There were quite a few things he did that other drummers would not do, and that's becoming evident now. I think Taylor Hawkins did a great job filling in on NWFT, (and I really don't like Chris Pennie) but I still would have preferred Josh Eppard. I think I speak for a majority of Coheed fans in saying that whenever I think of Coheed, I think of Claudio, Travis, Mic, and Josh.
@Smurff311 i couldn't disagree more. i think mic does a great job at not over-playing, yet adding a his own sound. hes a big part of why i like coheed. check out the crowing at starland ballroom. not tryin to be confrontational just sayin.
and the reason most artists tune down is to ease strain on their voice. your average listener isnt going to tell the difference between standard and e flat. besides, 90% of serious performers will have at least a second guitar in an alternate tuning.
I sorta agree with you but I'd say I should get a better camera or equalize the low end on the video...which I would do and reupload it but wouldn't want to lose any of the view stats/data
K-Roc the NYC Radio station recorded a good amount as well as some contributors off the forum of CobaltandCalcium....check it out, if not get at me and I'll see if I can give you the files.
Does Anyone Know What Tuning Their Guitars Are In? I Know This Songs Calls For Drop D Tuning But They Sound A Little Different, Can Someone Help Me Out Here!
I wont say better or worse, but def perfered his voice back when he toured from 03-05...I'd say those with voice, energy and performace from the band as a whole was about as good as they got. I could see in their tours in 06 they just drifted. Be sure to check out my video's on Google.
you completly ignored what i had originally stated. someone commented on how its unusual to see a modern band play in standard, and i said im guessing the reason that coheed tunes to e flat is because he cant sing as high as he used to. meaning his vocal range is more limited now, so playing half a step down in tuning would allow claudio to not exert as much stress on his vocal chords. you should have understood that with my original comment.
i wouldn't say josh was that good at drums..he was sufficient the reason he sounded so good was coz his style of playing fitted with the songs so well, its just he knew how to change the whole feel of a song with drums thats what made him so unforgettable. But skill wise there are a lot of better drummers, like Tool's Danny Carey for one.
all of u argueing on his vocals etc...stfu..comment this page on the video u are watching or dont comment at all ..i love this vid btw ..crowd are awsome and so is the band and i love the song
i think its cus claudio is getting old. maybe he cant sing as high as he used to. im pretty sure that isnt a reference to the tuning they played in at this show
I have The Light & The Glass....I can't upload it since it's over 100mb, if anyone can reccomend a program to make it smaller I'd be more than willing to upload it. Or if you guys want them just hit me on AIM: Smurff311
xD if you took him out and replaced him with any body. You wouldn't notice o.O now if you took claudio/michael/travis out...the band changes..especially claudio... no world for tomorrow had the best drumming out of any of their albums. Because Taylor Hawkins is a big time drummer.
As a drummer, let me tell you that I disagree VERY much with you, few times I find such a complete drummer as Josh Eppard, I still regret that he plays no more for C&C. Have a good day.
wtf are you talking about? do you know anything about music aside from watching mtv? we were talking about coheed playing the majority of their songs in Eb now instead of standard. and i was saying it was my opinion because he cant sing as high as he used to.
jeeze, what a great set. the audience was amazing too. i wish i could of been there
i pretty much love any acoustic co & ca song
Man I wish this was better quality. I would listen to this version everyday.
Over all of the Coheed audiences, this is by far one of the best, singing along and what not, most audiences dont cheer and clap at the songs
Coheed will never be the same, and I can't say it's a welcome change.
Especially Mic. The way he fingerpicked both his acoustic and electric bass...amazing. He had such a flair even when playing the most simplistic of riffs and the most complicated of bass solos.
theyr'e so in their prime here, it almost makes me want to cry.
Bruh the nostalgia fighting the tears
It's awesome how the crowd is so on point that Claudio just let's them sing it.
i like this arrangement. a lot.
i love the sound of this one!
:)
but i love them all...
This is music in it's most pure form my friend.
You god damn right...can't wait for Neverender in NYC ;)
One of the few times my digital camera recorded a live show well, I'd think because it was balanced and mixed to not be too loud for the acoustic set. Glad you enjoy
the only video where i can stand the crowd singing, theyre really good
to the guy who recorded this i think the audio was awesome... this performance kicks ass lol love coheed
wow...magical...
If only there wasn't so much distortion, this would be such a fantastic video. I love this song.
debate to understand, that we all have a flaw.
best lyircs ever
That was beautiful man.... Thank you for uploading this this.
wow, there must have been such a communal feel to this show,
i wish i had been there so bad. :[
i really like them acoustic
its easy it sing along with =D
Perfect
Every time I heard the Irving Plaza sets I'm just astounded at the level of audience participation. I can't imagine how rewarding it must feel for Claudio hearing everyone singing his songs back to him, beautifully and perfectly.

I loved this version. Once you get over the distorted bass drum, it's cool. I think a great song will sound well at any beat and any tone.
Well, I think it was two months, but I hadn't realized that until I went to see their concert in Vegas on the 25th of July. I talked to Mike for a while, and he told me a bit about it. yea ur right
damn this song sounds good in acoustic..

This is my most favorite track from SSTB T_T
kool thanx ^_^
i think life on the road is starting to get to them. ive seen the same thing that you are talking about.
@shaneDaShamma55
I hear ya, he fits in nicely, just the overdrive or volume could go from 7 to an 8 if the guitar and drums are at a 9 on the decibel meter
@TheMbo121 Going to get it tattooed onto the palm of my right hand along with "pain is only a pulse if you just stop feeling it" on my left
It's a blown up condom....theres an article/interview about this concert I just can't find it. Hope you guys enjoy.
lol claudio and travis are tuned exactly to eachother when the balloon hits trav
godly
yaeh i do believe because theier orriginal stuff when they were shabute from claudios side project that was called coheed and cambria that was all acoustic that kinda turned into the prize fighter inferno
actually there a couple songs like heart shot kid disater tht is played in d also others.
@Smurff311 i saw them live 3 times, and each time they made mic louder then everyone else and he drowned them out to the point where i couldent hear anyone else

its originally acoustic
Is the Bassk Mekanik in the background for this thing? Damn. . .

Pretty good audience, vocally.

i think chris wrpte all the parts.
they just got taylor to play because chris couldn't due to his contract... i think.
@Smurff311 i couldn't disagree more. i think mic does a great job at not over-playing, yet adding a his own sound. hes a big part of why i like coheed. check out the crowing at starland ballroom. not tryin to be confrontational just sayin.

besides, 90% of serious performers will have at least a second guitar in an alternate tuning.
@HughMacLennan you do realize that is the bass drum not the bass bass? Or maybe I just read your comment wrong.
It is a bit much but I actually prefer it since 98% of the time you don't hear bass in any of their songs, live or professionally recorded
tama ka jan kapatid...pusa. sa youtube n lang ata tau makakapanood ng mga concert nila...ang saket..
I sorta agree with you but I'd say I should get a better camera or equalize the low end on the video...which I would do and reupload it but wouldn't want to lose any of the view stats/data
@Smurff311
Haha you guys...I'm pretty sure he means the bass drum.
search for
Church of Claudio Sanchez
on facebook and join
Taylor was only doing what Chris had written and told him to do.

@phillip6607 well it works for me and with you not asking politely and being rude I won't make any 2nd efforts.
yea you make a damn fine point, he is a good drummer, you're correct lol
+Brian WaldorfMind you, Josh Eppard left the band to go to rehab for his drug-problem.
does anyone know how many times they performed it acoustic? i would kill for a good quality version of it.
Travis Stever looks like the country singer Travis Tritt

yeah pretty sure he uses a taylor. expensive as fuck but hell when your claudio sanchez you get all the endorsments you want :)
sadly I agree amaltoadie
please stop commenting. you know nothing about music and how each instrument, tuning, and scale interacts with each other.
i agree chris is amazing but josh had ridiculous fills that wont be matched. those high hat things will be missed
All their songs sound great acoustic.
Don't they write EVERY song acoustically first? :P
tol ako rin ung harlemdj14...sinuspend nga lang ng youtube...ito n yung bago kong account...tnx sa add ha..
taylor hawkins is awesome
all of u argueing on his vocals etc...stfu..comment this page on the video u are watching or dont comment at all ..i love this vid btw ..crowd are awsome and so is the band and i love the song

He can't sing like he used to because of an acid reflux problem he was getting from it. Geeze
hahahahahah
