I had a friend in my school days who committed suicide during exam season. The pressure was too much for him. It was obvious he was struggling with the pressure on him, by both his family and the school. His family more so. It was awful. This was the year I done my GCSE's all teachers were so scared about what was even on the exam let alone what or how to teach us, less that 50% of people got 5 GCSE's including English and maths
Every time they show D. Povey sitting in front of the camera in his office, he looks like he's wearing a Poundland foundation. Do they touch up everybody's faces before those segments?
fruity garlic I think so in the other episode tiger looks like he has yellow teeth bruised lip and really pale skin but in the confessions he looks waaay better
@@otismutt From experience, it's easier to get a 5 (strong pass) on higher than it is for foundation. Not a lot of room for error on a foundation paper.
subliminaldoomer I would agree with that, foundation had a fairly high pass mark and for people who have a decent understanding but make silly mistakes, higher is a much better option
@@inayahhussain9796 oh, same. I got a 5 in the beginning of the year 11 mocks, and then a 6 on the end ones, and got a 7 as a gcse, and I too am doing A-level maths. Might struggle at first, but it'll all fall into place.
Principle Drew Povey was suspended last year! So insane to hear after watching this documentary multiple time and seeing how inspiring all the teachers were and their relationships with the students. The results were so low sitting at 18% for students achieving 5 or more GCSE's when the minimum is around 39%. The school went under a full investigation last year as it was deemed unsafe!
I read something about him off-rolling badly scoring pupils.. so he was getting rid of pupils that would probably get the overall scores down, and still only 18% got 5 or more GCSEs? Is that correct? Just trying to understand, I might be misunderstanding something as I’m Dutch, and not familiar with GCSEs, nor a native speaker :) Maybe you know more? Thanks
Highest in the mocks were two 6 grades and few 5 grades? This is honestly shocking and it makes the school look bad. Year 11 maths lesson three weeks before is converting decimals to fractions? Shocking teaching standards but the student’s attitude is also shocking.
I was thinking that My school sees a 5 as the bare minimum most people at my school get 7 and above and it’s actually really stressful with the standards they have for us. I go to a grammar school so they make it a lot harder for us but I guess it will make it easier for us in the long run. The GCSEs have got so much harder
My school is nothing like this. All they care about for the year 11s are just getting good grades. They never asked me what I wasn’t getting when they would hand back terrible grades to me (whenever a test I did was bad). My dad was more helpful than them, and he’s not even a teacher- I had to gain the confidence myself by the end, to actually start asking questions, to get across from my secret social anxiety which I didn’t want to admit at the time. Reputation is all they care about, not the students. Deep down they want an image.
AJD 119 Yeah same here! My school is designed for 700 students and there are now around 1000. There’s this ridiculous one-way system so it takes forever to get to lessons
the support at this school is AMAZING! my school is sooo bad, one of my friends is going through really bad mental health rn and cuts. the way they dealed with it was disgusting, our form tutor said that self harm was a silly passing trend/phase😤also half the people in our school have depression or anxiety and my school had the genius idea of banning our phones with the reasoning of ‘its the reason they don’t perform as well as they can and have bad mental health’🤮
Fallonwilson xo they don’t they just want the kids to do well, they have a good support team and stuff i wish my school and surrounding schools around me did but all they care about is the schools reputation, this school cares about the kids themselves in order for them to do well.
can someone explain this whole year 7 and 11 thing? I go to school in Scotland so we have things like first year through to sixth year (for secondary school). I am so confused
Animated Arrow *I think England and the other British countries have the system easier than you, we all have “Year 1 to Year 11 thing” when Scotland has “P1-P6 to S7 - S11”*
the difference between this head teacher compared to mine is ridiculous. my head teacher rarely spoke to students he never conducted an assembly he was a lovely guy but he jus didn’t really care about the students all he cared about was the reputation of the school
Wish my school was like this I had a panic attack wich triggered my asmtha so I was crying and having an asmtha attack and they shouted at me because I didn't do my science exam And sent me to isolation
I absolutely love, admire, respect and commend the staff and teachers at this school. They do an incredible job of communicating and inspiring these kids. Even when disciplining or dealing with problem students they are strict, have very high standards, maintain their composure and get the message across while still assuring the kids that they will fight for them and help them with any probles or difficulties they may have, academically or personally. I just love it, I wish more Canadian schools were working like these men and woman. They aren't concerned with their union or raises or time off, they work before and after school hours, above and beyond, it's really beautiful.
These have got to be the most awake involved teachers I've ever seen. Exactly the kind of teachers you want educating your kids; most teachers wouldn't care to get so involved its such a shame that teachers aren't paid enough because these teachers/staff definitely deserve more money.
When I watch these videos I just think that my school is so unsupportive cause whenever there is a problem at this school, the staff just support and sort things out straight away

I used to go dancing at this school and Maddie did a group dance with me and some other girls she's so nice!💞💕 I hope she's doing well now:)
Whos doing gcse in 2018/19 ?
My baby!
muzamil raja no I did them in 2016 lol
muzamil raja my bro
Nope I did mine in 2012 😂
muzamil raja in 2020
Every time they show D.
In both my high school and primary school we did SATS/GCSE style questions in every year...was that just the area I live??
Yes, they did in mine
Aoibh.K xox are you from London?
Oghhhh I hateeee skoollllll (the intro😂😂)
I hope everyone has a great 2019 and i want you to be really successful
is it just me or are the year 11's learning on what I learnt in yr 5?
no, they are hahaha
First teacher i’ve heard say ‘dickhead’ : Mr Povey 💯
"Narnia" i cant XDXD
School: *funds are low*
Also school: *buys 7 boxes of dominos*
Would've been out of teachers pocket
I know I was just joking 😂😂
Are there any normal student in this school
Yes but they don't show them bc it's not interesting
*students
lola ranogajac Exactly.
They do they just do show the normal student so it is better if they do the ones with problems
Jaffacus clearly never been - Manchester is ace
Great series. My fav episode is ep 8 with Billy and tiger🤣
I’m sad that this is the last episode
tessa • and educating Cardiff
“Fruit pastilles for breakfast mmmm nutritious and delicious “😂😂
Wine gums are different to fruit pastilles. Still sweet. But different.
15:03 I'm kem and I'm 5'10, I found love when i first walked in skskskkajaks
Thank you soo much for uploading this.
I actually can’t believe how simple the maths they are teaching the year 11. It’s really worrying 😂
Probs a low set lol. Like foundation aint hard
@@otismutt I agree I did higher, I never got more than a 5 in mocks and I came out with a 7 in my results and now I'm doing a level maths
Just trying to understand, I might be misunderstanding something as I’m Dutch, and not familiar with GCSEs, nor a native speaker :)
Maybe you know more? Thanks
@@Nora-mooo yes u are right, only 18% of student got a 5 (a 4 is a pass) or more for gcse
I love their accents
Apple ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ your welcome
Highest in the mocks were two 6 grades and few 5 grades? This is honestly shocking and it makes the school look bad. Year 11 maths lesson three weeks before is converting decimals to fractions? Shocking teaching standards but the student’s attitude is also shocking.
I was thinking that My school sees a 5 as the bare minimum most people at my school get 7 and above and it’s actually really stressful with the standards they have for us. I go to a grammar school so they make it a lot harder for us but I guess it will make it easier for us in the long run. The GCSEs have got so much harder
Liv Jones o
Like I’m in y8 and I’m getting fours. It’s genuinely appalling
Yeah like im in year8 and in tops set so the work we get set is harder than the year 11 work. Its honestly disgusting how they want 6s and not 8-9s
@@Gracie-ep5oq they'd rather them get 6's than nothing
My school is nothing like this. All they care about for the year 11s are just getting good grades. They never asked me what I wasn’t getting when they would hand back terrible grades to me (whenever a test I did was bad). My dad was more helpful than them, and he’s not even a teacher-
I had to gain the confidence myself by the end, to actually start asking questions, to get across from my secret social anxiety which I didn’t want to admit at the time.
Reputation is all they care about, not the students. Deep down they want an image.
God, Phil Neville has taken an odd career path!
our school struggles because it was built for 200 but has over 700 pupils
Ok you have said that twice
AJD 119 Yeah same here! My school is designed for 700 students and there are now around 1000. There’s this ridiculous one-way system so it takes forever to get to lessons
Sean Caddy oh my god we that one way system which is absolutely stupid because your lesson is right there and you have take forever to get there 🙄
Okay?..
Ye mate wherever you head that fake they would triple capacity
0:26 the guy running tho 😂😂
I finished school 2 years ago and if my school would have been like this I reckon I’d have missed it 😂😂
the support at this school is AMAZING! my school is sooo bad, one of my friends is going through really bad mental health rn and cuts. the way they dealed with it was disgusting, our form tutor said that self harm was a silly passing trend/phase😤also half the people in our school have depression or anxiety and my school had the genius idea of banning our phones with the reasoning of ‘its the reason they don’t perform as well as they can and have bad mental health’🤮
ella bleasdale oof
They put wayyy to much pressure on kids about GCSE’s
No, they don't. The students just don't put in enough effort.
VCE’s are even worse
@@elizastevens8313 what's that ? Sorry I don't know
Fallonwilson xo they don’t they just want the kids to do well, they have a good support team and stuff i wish my school and surrounding schools around me did but all they care about is the schools reputation, this school cares about the kids themselves in order for them to do well.
I'm sorry, if you don't know that 0.3 is 3/10 as fraction it's not the exams that are wrong.
Grandparents are always chill with you. Sean’s parents would have whooped his arse😂
Only 5% of students predicted to pass both Maths and English??
Oh dear.
RCLeahcar Jesus Christ. Almost everyone in my year is predicted 7S and above
can someone explain this whole year 7 and 11 thing? I go to school in Scotland so we have things like first year through to sixth year (for secondary school). I am so confused
ah thanks for explaining.
Animated Arrow *I think England and the other British countries have the system easier than you, we all have “Year 1 to Year 11 thing” when Scotland has “P1-P6 to S7 - S11”*
Juicy Lemon It’s P1-P7 and then S1-S6
Animated arrow yeah my the school system in ireland where i live is the same
IM Edge
But I thought the P represented Primary and the S represented Secondary?
and I thought “P7” was also considered as primary
I needed supportive teachers like this back in 2010 when I was buggin out doing my gcse’s
A teacher from this school moved to mine
Ria Kaur which one
Mr Taylor
Prestwich arts college
the difference between this head teacher compared to mine is ridiculous. my head teacher rarely spoke to students he never conducted an assembly he was a lovely guy but he jus didn’t really care about the students all he cared about was the reputation of the school
How was this school rated the worst school?! The student service is a peng 10/10✨
It's the behaviour
Wish my school was like this I had a panic attack wich triggered my asmtha so I was crying and having an asmtha attack and they shouted at me because I didn't do my science exam And sent me to isolation
20:35 I spotted a ghost amongst the kids!😮
I absolutely love, admire, respect and commend the staff and teachers at this school. They do an incredible job of communicating and inspiring these kids. Even when disciplining or dealing with problem students they are strict, have very high standards, maintain their composure and get the message across while still assuring the kids that they will fight for them and help them with any probles or difficulties they may have, academically or personally. I just love it, I wish more Canadian schools were working like these men and woman. They aren't concerned with their union or raises or time off, they work before and after school hours, above and beyond, it's really beautiful.
I remember when I did SATS and all the mock sats and the official sats felt like the mock sats
@@joeh7043 yea, because I have JUST started high school
@@joeh7043 add 1 to that
These have got to be the most awake involved teachers I've ever seen.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good this school really is and how much they care if this was my school they wouldn't give a shit
My school makes us do a Christmas and summer test and when have 2 major test junior cert and leaving cert 🇮🇪🇮🇪
