  • This video goes over the Top 7 TH-cam channels that really inspired me to want to create my own TH-cam channel. Each of these channels inspired me in different ways, but all were highly influential to my style of creating Emergency Preparedness and Gear Review videos here on TH-cam. If you get a chance to visit these channels from this video, please leave them a comment and tell them that "The Urban Prepper sends his regards".

      That is so cool! Thank you so much for the kind words. Your backpack and bag videos have become the new "RoscoeBa" videos for me. They have so much detail that they make me want to up my game to try to keep up with the level of details that you include in yours. I'm glad I've been helpful to you and it's been great watching you and your channel blossom.

    Ten years ago, Analytical Survival was the best of the best. He basically quit not long after his brother died, but much of his content is valid down to this day. He gets two thumbs up for homeschooling his son and focusing on his family and not TH-cam...

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. He was the best of the best. If he was that good at making TH-cam videos, just imagine how good of a homeschooler he is. Family is more important than TH-cam. I imagine he's inspired thousands of Preppers through his videos.

    just want to thank you, I was a bit put off/scared of prepping at first because the videos that I saw seemed extreme and I couldn't relate to the alarmist frenzied-ness, but your no nonsense, calm and informative way of showing people how to prep sensibly helps so much! I will be creating a channel in the next few months-not for prepping, but for beginners to the instrument I play, and I will be definitely trying to emulate your calm, no nonsense, you can do it approach. Thanks again!

    The idea of doing a TH-cam channel certainly crosses my mind every now and then, inspirations currently:
    - TheUrbanPrepper (not sure if you know him ;) , mainly his organisation and level headedness on the topic, also like his inclusion of (using input from) the audience on actual topics.
    - DavidCanterbury (mainly his no-nonsense approach, also fairly heavily DIY and Knowledge/Skill based, also like his interaction with his followers, always open on what's coming up and where he will be, even though it's basically non of our business)
    - CanadianPrepper (Mainly like his heavily researched videos, and also theory crafting on subjects concerning prepping)
    - PrepperPotporri (Mainly her level headedness, and wide range of topics, also like the down to earth approach, there is a certain 'if she can do it, i should certainly be able to as well; especially if she details how she does it' , coming from her videos, i'dd hope to be able to achieve the same; also like her motto of sharing information )
    - PrimitiveTechnology (Mainly the 'create things from bare resources', something i think is sometimes missing from the PrepperCommunity, 'we hoard' but what if all of that is used? and lets face it, if you can captivate 2mil+ users without saying a word)
    - TheMainePrepper (only reruns now :( … but this channel made me realize i am a prepper, and not just somebody interested in outdoor stuff, if it wasn't for his videos, i likely wouldn't be here. Mainly his level headedness on the subject, he was an instructor in the military and that would show in his videos, a mix of humor and good info and common sense.
    - PraxisPrepper might be an inspiration to some extend too, while my channel would be nothing like his, i do like his videos, sense of humor and his production quality is pretty dang high, to a point where you don't even notice that it is so high because it somehow still looks somewhat amateurish. Seeing i haven´t made a video in like ever, his production level would certainly be an aspiration to reach for.
    Honorable mention would probably be:
    - ZedOutdoors (or MCQ Bushcraft, but that channel sort of changed itself, so Zed it is now), I like his drive on the subject of bushcraft and his willingness to learn (also his dry English humor), he can make 2h long 'Zedocumentaries' is call them, on say woodbowl turning on a pole lathe, going really into detail of every aspect, generally from his own wanting to learn angle, so asking a lot about the why's and how's.

    We successfully did a fire evacuation drill today with the local fire dept at our condo complex. As folks were checking in we gave them the FEMA’s simple 72 hour Go Bag list and surveyed how many had started or completed a GoBag. A surprising number had. Several were working on their 14 day kit. A lot of progress over last year, but we did have a wildfire near by that inspired people to get off their butts. I did make a few referrals to your channel to folks that were wondering about what kind of GoBag they should have at work in The City. Told one guy about your video that had you use door wedges to block open an exit route.
