I have chronic rhomboid pain and I ended up having a pinched nerve in my neck. If you have numbness or tingling in your arm try getting a cervical spine MRI!
Thanks for the show today, always fun, always insightful. I agree, I’m still waiting for GPT-4 to roll out all of its promised features. I guess I’ll just hold my breath for Apple intelligence until I can test it. Still excited though. Although I was impressed as an Apple user and fanboy, WWDC24 felt like an overproduced spectacle that didn't introduce anything groundbreaking. We already have small LLMs like phi-3, Mistral, and LLaMA on our iPhones. These models work well with proper prompting. What interests me is Apple's approach with on-device intelligence that supposedly learns and improves over time, providing a personalized experience across the Apple ecosystem. This architecture, combining small and large models, could be a step towards future AGI systems. It’s about dynamic learning, episodic memory, and integration of local and cloud computing. What do you guys think?
I think you're absolutely right about small and large clouds and the idea that we can have a little private thing that knows EVERYTHING about us and then uses the power of the larger cloud to do the sorts of stuff that needs power. AI needs to become super personalized to become the most powerful version of itself for us as humans. It's cool to have the smartest brain in the universe but really what you want is the best helper for you. Thanks so much for watching! We really do appreciate it and these sorts of meaningful comments!
@@AIForHumansShow I agree, although ChatGPT might be smarter than Apple’s on-device SLMs without training data, the ability to self-train and personalize with your phone data is a game-changer. Only about 14% of people actively use LLMs because they haven’t found daily use cases. Most people just want a helper that understands them and can handle minor tasks across apps. If Apple can provide that for free while maintaining privacy, they could put AI in the hands of millions overnight with an iOS update. Even if they don’t use it, free access could spark more interest in AI.

Great show, I only hope my brain can retain 40% of the stuff I learn here so thank you. Kevin - Just need to rest your back man. Just get Kassem to be your butler for a week or two and it should be back to normal. Both of you have a great weekend.
Funny the AI Human Harmfulness metric.... I asked AI if I could blend cherries without removing the pits into a smoothie since the fam went cherry picking.... turns out it let me know cherries have cyanide in the pits and it would be a very bad idea to blend those in lol
I thought for sure apple was going to announce that their event was all done by Ai especially after the parkour. everyone with an iphone can already get the beta, but siri doesn't seem to have been updated yet.
IMO… computer generated language to us is like broken English being spoken by an immigrant. It takes time to understand/convey understanding between each other because we don’t access all available built in BioGPU… it takes some individuals longer to scrape/input learning data to get the core purpose behind the exchange. When we can put 1’s & 0’s to tongues then will every inquiry be like talking with an old friend or respected colleague.
A chinese team released a tiny model which not enough people are talking about it. The model im speaking about is QWEN 2 0.5B, although the bot is very not super smart always, it often still returns a response thats so good, i get the chills. Tiny models are amazing, mind blown. Make a video on it so i don't have too :(
36:40 ask yourself in 1000-2000 years would we be able to simulate our reality, given enough compute? Nick Bostrom may have point and that it may be more likely than not that this is a simulation
need to go back and read Superintelligence again - it's been a bit and we've seen a lot more stuff since then. i hope he's going to come out with a new book soon.

Hm.. since Elon likes promoting FUD against other companies like Google, Apple, OpenAI, has anyone questioned the training methods of xAI? Is it siphoning user data for people posting on X/twitter? We know Tesla is definitely siphoning. How secure is our data on X? It seems like another case of his "do as I say, not as I do". In addition, when it comes to OpenAI the FUD is like a personal vendetta. To me Apple had the best presentation in a decade, and he immediately threw cold water on it, distracted, and shifted focus to his feud with OpenAI. Constantly attacking, frivolous lawsuits... it's a bit out of hand. They had a divorce, it's time for him to move on. All that said, I'm going to go against the narrative and say I'm excited by what Apple, OpenAI, and even xAI (based on rumors) have in store for us coming up this year and next year. We're all kind of spoiled to be alive at this moment.
i honestly think watching Elon is now like watching unchecked id who kind of spews everything in his mind onto his platform -- i hope is isn't really that
We've been seeing so many cool LumaLabs exports -- if you've made something awesome drop in below here... ALSO TY FOR 10K SUBS BABY
Another week, another great episode. And yes, I did see and like the other posts :P
