The Extrication is a standalone sequel to The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, and is a reimagined adaptation of the thriller film The Bridge Curse 2: Ritual. It is a first-person survival horror game, seen from the perspective of multiple characters, that uses a modern, campus ghost story as the basis for its plot.
The Story
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication takes place at Wen Hua University, one of the ten universities in Taiwan known for its unsettling ghost stories. To attract new members to the film club, a group of students has decided to hold the Carnival of Horror in the Da Ren building, which abounds with rumors of ghost sightings. They plan on re-enacting a bizarre case that happened on campus decades ago and turning it into a horror movie, but as they rush to film in the depths of night, strange things start to happen...
At the same time, a reporter arrives on campus after receiving an eerie letter in hopes of resolving a mysterious missing persons case from the past. After piecing together a series of clues, the mystery unravels and a massive conspiracy covered in darkness is on the verge of emerging.
As they frantically try to escape, the terrifying being behind the specter-infested building gradually reveals itself... With demons closing in and impending doom at hand, will anyone survive the horrors of the night?

Solve unique riddles and puzzles to uncover the terrifying truth hidden behind an array of mysterious events. Only then will the story's final enigma emerge from the darkness.
Exploration
Explore the environment to obtain key items and information which will lead to hidden clues scattered throughout the school.

when you are in the cafeteria and the sergeant says "it's nothing, i'll take are of it" he is standing on a smudge of blood, he moves his feet as if trying to clean it, the broken neck lady is wearing a nurse outfit too, like the lady he said was his wife, the sergeant is suspicious
Oh yeah when folks don't tell you what happened to their spouse and just say an accident it's them lol that's how scary stories go
That ghost design is top tier. She actually spooked me. Also, it’s not a romance, but there’s an isekai anime about someone being reincarnated as a vending machine in a fantasy world, which is pretty funny lol
One thing i always liked about chris is that ue actually reads the notes and pages on most games unlike other youtubers who say pause it if u wanna read lol
And also voice acts un-voiced dialogue
well, you kinda had to pause to read about the dog so he doesn't always.
We need more characters like Sgt. Huang, not just in games, but in media in general. Gregarious, knowledgeable, dedicated, devoted, and content - true Renaissance Man!
And I need them voiced by this VA at all times, just something about him is satisfying to listen to.

I remember in the demo during the car park scene the guard had red eyes behind his sunglasses for a very brief moment. It was soooooo suspicious. I'm kind of glad they fixed it in the full game, but also a little sad because it was a nice little hint if you were paying hyper close attention. Oh well.
Nooooo, Sergeant Huang! I was hoping his goofy behavior in both games was because he was the one romantically involved with that vending machine. (And, if _you_ want to be romantically involved with a vending machine... 😂) Yeah, I'm enjoying this game as much, maybe even more, than the first game. Please play on.

Also, the university in the game and horror tale, the Ghost Elevator in Wen Hua University, they were referenced in the first Bridge Curse game Road to Salvation from Campus Horror Tales File in TungHu University's Student Union Room. I think Bridge Curse 2 is the forshadowing sequel(because Wen Hua University and Ghost Elevator were forshadowing events) and I think that the other horror tales in the Campus Horror Tales File were going to be forshadowing future Bridge Curse game sequels!

Not a fan of the inspiration footage of Elisa Lam's case, but I won't judge the entire game on that. So far I rather like it. The guard is great and the voice acting is steller by indie horror game standards.
I agree. The game is great so far, but I think that video was in poor taste. They could have still taken inspiration from the real incident without copying her mannerisms almost movement for movement.
Honestly a haunted vending machine would help explain why MY DAMN CHIPS ALWAYS GET STUCK!!!
It has been quite awhile since a horror game has spooked me. Not like jump scares spooked, like I keep feeling the need to look over my shoulder spooked. Can't wait for part 2!

Edit: Not finished the video yet but... The sergeant is almost 100% a ghost, right?
The photograph of his wife is old, he "hasn't spoken to anyone in a long time" (about his wife), he's been at the school a long time despite looking rather young, he saluted the ghost dog, he doesn't want Sue to take a picture of him, he doesn't know the date but knows some stuff is gonna go down on a very specific day that HE can withstand but not Sue...
But he knows about Sue's identity, and can interact with the vending machine... It's all ambiguous information, but curious nonetheless. Also, he's too nice so I feel like he's actually a bad guy.
I would say the game is trying to make the security guard a red herring, so you will be thrown off when the real villain shows up. Suspect he might be a ghost as well, or he has some way to ward off the inauspicious midnight timing when the building goes into its "haunted" mode. The guard that later appears in the ghost dimension may either be a "nightmare" version of him, or he got possessed. Either way, he's probably going to appear as a recurring enemy.
Not finished either but I do think he's a ghost too and I feel like he's kind of aware? like that moment where he asked Sue to make sure he wasn't in any photos since a ghost would most likely not show up and he acts like the dog was there, plus CJU is right, the photo of the wife looked old while the the sergeant appeared younger plus he's seemingly always patrolling the place suggesting he can't leave since the place ties him there (Like how the ghosts in AHS are tied to where they died)
Gurex had me dying laughing. It's the little things like that in games that I find so endearing.
the security guard made me laugh way to much, i appreciate that the guard isn't just a throwaway character.

He is not a guard. It's "教官". You can only find it in Taiwan and China's school(above high school).
Their duty are teaching military knowledge(like ritle shooting), counseling, school discipline, campus security, etc.
They are all selected from military office, from Lieutenant to colonel, by examination.

I know there's a lot of reading in this game but I love games with a lot of reading and ask someone who's visually impaired I really appreciate it when you read all the text on screen such as journals and captions around the pictures etc.
Beautiful graphics, interesting characters, and great monster design. The ghost is just the right kind of uncanny.

Edit: The voice acting really makes it better. The first game sounded super cringe in some parts, maybe it’s not that bad for non-Chinese speakers or non-Taiwanese, but it really took me out of the game a lot

One of the most interesting things I feel about this game is the American/Taiwanese voice acting. Not to detract from the art style, music, graphics, story or anything else! But I find it interesting they decided to use American pronunciations/accents. (I mean, this game is marketed towards a Western audience- makes sense, it's like Dreadout [or Resi8] in that sense)

If this game even slightly follows the movie, like the first game did, then he's right to be suspicious of the security guard, although not in the way he's thinking...
Nice! This is the game that gets me up in the morning to clear my mind of unpleasant memories of dealing with youtube chat support. This will lighten up my mood. I enjoy watching game plays and horror games and this is one good example of a point and click game
