- The United States is, by far, the most successful nation in the history of the Men's 100 meter sprint at the Olympic Games. Since 1896, athletes from the United States have won this event 16 out of 29 times, taking home a total of 40 medals. Following the U.S., Jamaica and Great Britain have won three golds each, and eight medals overall. Jamaica's Usain Bolt is the most successful athlete in the event, with three 100m gold medals to his name. Only one medallist from this event has ever been stripped of their medal, and that was Canada's Ben Johnson in 1988, in one of the biggest doping scandals in sporting history.

Ben Johnson 9.79 1988 - stripped of gold because he got caught. Others were later caught but not stripped of their medals or fastest time. Ben had a 9.69 WR that was taken away.
You can see when runners started hitting the juice in the 60’s to get sub 10, then later growth hormone to get really fast.

As an American I try to explain the meaning of the word domination to our Jamaican brothers and sisters do you see all the American 100metres winners there are compared to any other nation that's domination.
