      @@patmichaud7352 I believe it is the Schmidt Array SA250 (Josh talks about it on his own channel that it's one of three boards he has, a small for fly gigs, a large for the studio, and this medium one for all the fun new pedals)

    This is dated 12/21 and I've never seen it and it is an amazing video ! I just have to be so grateful to both Josh and Don Carr 👍. Josh is an incredible guy who knows so much and stays humble enough so he can just keep advancing !!! Don is on point here. No way I could keep up with conversation with Josh but they both talk that different dialect really well together. I didn't miss a second and repeated a bunch. Thx to Josh, Don and Sweetwater 👍!!!

    Such an amazing player and I love how into sharing his knowledge and passion he is. A true master and student of guitar and I really admire his use of the historic and modern gear in his own voice. I can't get enough of him nerding out on his gear!

    This series is great! I dig Josh’s philosophy of bringing out all the nuance of your tone and nurturing it as opposed to just compressing it or adding too much gain. Very cool!

    • @wea69420
      @wea69420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! I believe there's an addendum to that though: if you're bringing in gain, give it the extra volume it needs to really blossom. A clean sound at the same volume as a distorted one will just eat the latter up.

    I really like Josh’s wet/dry solution. It is not easy to find pedals to fit into your rig that will do what the poly does (at least not for me). I also like the idea of having some guitar specific pedals like the TS for the strat. I also ended putting together a mini board just for my strat. Josh’ solution is more elegant.

    The chulla is the one pedal I didn’t recognize and was super curious about. From the start i fixated on it (probably because i didn’t know what it was) i had a feeling it was important though. Now i want one after hear how much you use it. I’ve never heard anybody say they have a pedal on that much during a gig. Basically you click it on and roll with it. I like that. If i have to turn knobs and turn this on and that off i get annoyed. I like shit you can turn on and forget about. The only knobs i want to turn are the ones on my guitar. I can deal with an occasional adjustment on an amp due to the room or a drummer that thinks he needs to be heard more than me lol.

    Josh is absolutely right about this, but with a caveat.... At 30 minute mark hes talking about balancing clean and driven tones... this must be kept in context. There's a huge difference between a guitar amp on stage in a club with a 4-5 piece band relying mostly on the amp rather than PA, versus a guitarist going direct to console, onstage with 8 other people, another electric guitarist, with multitracks and 1500 people in a congregation for church gigs. Its just a whole different philosophy of balancing your tones. You need to be useable to the FOH engineer whos trying to manage a thick mix.
    I use a 3-4db VOLUME boost for sections i really need to stand out but I'm also choosing my drives accordingly as well. If I want something super thick a juicy I'm going for my TS style drive. I'm also using different EQs on my boost to do what I need it to. With technology today there are 6 ways to do all this depending on your rig, but you gotta look at it differently than you would if you were playing a small club gig where the audience is hearing your amp directly and you actually do have to compete with a drummer and other instruments.
