Audi E-TRON = £70k C63v8 in that condition = £22k ish, so you could easily drive that car spiritedly for many years and have enough left over to completely overhaul the c63 for the price of the E-TRON minus running costs…C63 is the clear winner, electric cars are a waste of money unless you just love flashing your cash 😂

Don’t forget about waiting time when charging vs filling up with fuel big difference to people who are mega busy and don’t have time or patience to sit at a service station for an hour at a time.
You didn’t factor in the sweets and treats at the services whilst waiting 1 hr for the car to charge !!

Speeding up, slowing down and speeding back up will use more energy than just driving at a constant speed or coasting. You can't just gain energy, you are only regenning the energy you have to put in to speed up. Then there's a whole load of efficiency losses due to friction, air resistance, energy conversion etc.

My mate got a e tron its fine in hot climate if your not running the ac then it start eating the battery life and winter time he says it's pointless going anywhere because he needs to defrost then put heat on and when sitting in traffic it worrying because the range is getting less and less and if has to fast charge it cost him around £35 for less then 150 mile range
use to these lads pissing about but they whipped out the lab coats and it was decent!

Biggest cost of running a car is still depreciation. Buying a new electric car is very expensive, and the most costly component (the battery pack) has questionable performance after about 8 years, when the range will have shrunk massively. Even if there was a proper charging infrastructure, it still doesn’t add up yet, with one exception….Obviously it does for company cars because the current artificial tax breaks. But those will disappear in the future.

Be interesting to see if you took into consideration the price difference to buy the cars. 20 + K for the AMG or 70 K (or whatever it is) for the Audi. I would personally buy the AMG and spend the rest on fuel 🤣 ... and its more economical and better for the environment to reuse cars than buying brand new cars every 3 years. Entertaining as ever guys! A few thoughts, sorry if some repeated. Etron is the ‘gas guzzler’ of the electric car world along with Merc EQC. Tesla and Hyundi/Kia are among the most efficient. Using the term ‘Superchargers’ imply Tesla chargers which are reliable and cheaper in general than the rapid charger you used. After you own an electric for a good while I think you relax about how you drive it and get to know where is reliable to charge. Also we go for months without needing to charge on the go as charge at home at 5p/Kw overnight but have to research chargers when we go further afield, which can be fun/interesting / frustrating. I drive electric in preference to diesel, but I will be a while before I feel I can give up my V8 for the weekend!

What they don't tell you about these electric cars is after 4 years the batterys are knackered and cost over 10k to replace! Big game changer 🤔
strange as there are plenty of electric cars on sale with batteries older than that. The E-Tron came out in 2019 so are you really saying their batteries will be toast next year 😂😂
@@Ben.Royals Put it this way after 4 years the battery won't last as long as it did when it was new. The range will be a lot less and battery will drain quick. Besides that the battries are toxic and environmentally unsafe to dispose of. Also if we have all these electric cars on charge the power stations will be burning more fuel to charge all these batteries, meaning more pollution. So basically they are swapping one pollution for another.
That AMG has better MPG than my ford focus.

Nice one Ben. I went from S3 from Polestar 2 and it costs me 1% company car tax. In winter the range drops massively in my PS2. This week 28kw per 100 miles, last month 42. Did you drive it one pedal too? Makes mine even more economical. Yes I drive to the speed limit and have never used cruise control as much but it pays for itself. I agree about the other car needs to be fun… trying to convince other half to fill that void with next car…
Good to hear you talk like an EV owner. You have to think more in the initial stages of ownership about charging and driving to the speed limits but after a week it comes second nature. Hope Doris puts the last etron video in the bin as you’ve proved his reason for selling was bollox… it was him not getting the vibe of RV ownership
Still won't be buying one any time soon. Can't tinker, no nice noise, boring etc etc. You'll probably have more holidays than me each year though haha
@@Roginator007 but the point for me is that at 1% company car tax I’ll take the shame of driving one. Yes I’d prefer to not have cancelled my latest S3 order but in current times it was a no brainer and company pay my electric bill in full every month.
@@Roginator007 and to be honest I’ve had to drive slow as with no noise you find you actually speed more as it creeps up. Hence I literally drive one pedal and cruise control.
its really simple... run out of fuel or charge, see who gets going quicker.. last week i did and to my amazement i ubered 5 ltr of diesel to get me home.
It's the C63 for me as the sound of that engine is awesome and one of the best

Although it's capable of 120kw, that's not during the entire charge. Keep the battery between 40 and 80% and you'll get that speed. Anything below or over and the speed drops drastically.
We started charging at 41% and it maintained around 30KW throughout the entire charge 🤔

Guys its not how much ££s you topped up its how many litres . The merc used 22.4 litres ... so on a normal pre price rise 98ron was £1.45 x22ltr is £31 it would have cost not ....£44 ...hopefully when the prices drop it will be even less ..

It's all about smiles per gallon ? And they need to do some crash test on them electric cars ? Have you seen a mobile phone battery go up ?
For all that people bash electric cars for range, whilst I might have to charge one more time than I’d have to fill up, my RS eTron GT using HPC chargers cost less than half the cost of filling my RS7 . And that doesn’t factor in VED, 5K mile oil changes, all ICE consumables etc. Yes I miss the V8 sound but I don’t miss the mechanical sympathy of warming up and cooling down the car or the cost of keeping it on the road. The best bit though, it presently costs nothing to charge my GT because of Audi’s charging program so I’m saving £100+ a week! And it’s just about as rapid.
I get your point but yours is about 40k more then an Rs7 so technically your not saving anything . Can drive the Rs7 for many years with that 40k saving and have more fun in it . No noise is just boring

If you put the equivalent of a c63 as a downpayment on a etron how would the running costs of the 63 compare to the monthly payments on an etron?
Fuel, tax, services, breakages (63 is 10 years old after all), congestion charge if applicable. Could easily add up to hundreds per month.

Top video as usual guys, be intrested in both of your thoughts, Im in the market for a second car and am torn between the FN2 type r and an Audi TT 2.0 TFSI. Always fancied an rx8 which is the same price bracket but the horror stories about engine failures is making my head tell me not too. Renault sport Clio 200 also similar price, but just seem to definitely seem to be leaning towards the audi or the Honda.
RX8 are generally pretty reliable the trouble is people don't look after them properly being a rotary they need extra maintenance.
@@stichupman true, however given the age of them now it's hard to find any with less than 4/5 previous owners so becomes difficult to track how well previous owners have looked after them, wonder how much confidence could be taken from the compression test results most of the sales garages are offering with them?
