- This Can CRASH Your Aquarium | Importance Of Alkalinity For Macroalgae In A Reef Tank
Alkalinity is the basis for a reef tank and it is just as important in a macroalgae tank as it is in a coral based reef. My alkalinity doser malfunctioned and almost crashed my entire system.

I had the same thing happen with my kalk tubing outlet. Luckily I caught it within 36 hours but man, what a mess! Love the channel and content!
Thank you
The same reason I also don't use automated feeders unless I'm not going to be home. It's easy not to notice when something automated is doing things wrong or has stopped working. Constantly inspect each piece of equipment that is working automatically. Important piece of advice. Thank you! 👍 The other thing you told us is also important. I think it will be interesting to see what results you have with that experiment you say. - Ramón 🇲🇽
Thanks for watching
I’m trying to keep my nitrates as I’ve lost them completely in my freshwater system. And I’m not dosing anything even if I have a chaeto rizome in a breeding box. Glad you’re able to fix your problem.
I had a similar thing happen the other day; thankfully my dad has remained unaware as to why the heck there was a puddle in the hallway directly behind the aquarium for a bit. (I caught it fast!)
Glad you caught it in time buddy
Yeah me too!
Very interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Had a similar problem for different reasons, installed a pH meter where I can see it as soon as I walk in the fish room, money well spent.
Hi Nothing to do with your alkalinity but as i could not see that good what are you keeping in the tank are those molly's or platy's ?
Hai sir how many days once you do the water change in your marine aquarium????
I use 2 part kh + cal and magnesium every 3 days to maintain dkh
I still think that in a reef tank when the ph goes above 8.5 a little co2 can be added for as long as the ph dont drop to much and dkh is stable
I think in many ways saltwater aquarium technology may be getting out of hand.
Just like your dowser, these improvements are great, until they are not.
I have an Apex controller, dowsers, sensors, auto top off, temp controllers......on and on.
Freaking wires everywhere.
How can anyone be constantly monitoring virtually everything?
And saltwater aquarium keeping does require that there are not any big changes in water quality.
All of which are dependent on this technology.
What happened to keeping things simple?
Ha!
Yeah I only have this one thing and it failed 😂
Do you dose calcium and Magnesium?
Magnesium occasionally but frequent water changes take care of it. Never needed calcium
Where are you based and do you sell your macros?
