Most people don’t quite realize what a D1 athlete truly is. It’s not just your job, but also your identity. You gotta perform for both your team and that chick in the stands you invited.

I think if you got rid of the glove tap before you deliver and opened up a little more on the delivery you'd be humming that thing in at 88 with how long your arms are and how effortless you're delivery is. You have a very quick wind up and delivery. Lefty's are difficult to begin with, so if you're a little awkward and you can hit mid '80s there's no reason you couldn't play D1 anywhere. At least D2 I used to go to Southern New Hampshire University they're the only division to wooden bat league in America and guys get drafted out of the Northeast 10 conference every year. The level of play is very high. So I can imagine even mid-major division 1 must be something else. I'm a varsity coach now, and my top guy here in New Hampshire on my team went to play division 1 at University of Hartford. He left after his freshman year to go to the University of New Hampshire and play on their team because wanted to go to school this girlfriend so now he went from division 1 to a division one club team.
I’m a 6’2 sophomore 175 lbs and I have an absolutely insane curveball. My problem is I’m only hitting 78 off the mound for my fastball. How do I gain velocity?
Keep up the great content as usual. Love it man I love your content. It’s amazing bro keep it up. God bless y’all. Keep doing what you’re doing. Amazing videos.
My first signed baseball was from Christopher Morel. I’m a cubs fan so I liked it. It was his rookie year so I knew pretty much nothing about him. But now, I wish I knew him sooner
I went to college here. Being naive, one time I brought my Zooka pitching machine out onto the field to take some BP. It was a ballfield... didn't realize it was "off limits". Again, I was naive. A coach came out and started walking laps around the field. He didn't say anything, just walked circles around the field and watched while I hit warning track flyballs with my aggressively mediocre swing. Looking back, I think I inadvertently tried out for the LMU team lmao. I think the coach was checking out my skills, when he could have easily kicked me off. Honest to God, I just wanted to go crush some balls and it was the closest field. And I was a young moron who didn't understand the forbidden sanctity of a well-groomed field (it was unlocked).
while at LMU, the best two players were Ryan Wheeler and Angelo Songco. I thought Songco was better, and a more natural baseball player, but it was Wheeler who eventually made the bigs as a corner infield type. Songco destroyed HighA but appears to have flamed out in the upper levels.
Mid to high 80s is an average high level HS pitcher in Alabama. My son, who is a SS, pitches and throws 83 in HS and dominates when he can throw strikes in 6A in Alabama. I threw 85 in the 1987 in D3 college and never pitched in my life. All our pitchers threw harder than that, and that was D3 35 years ago.
I topped at 90 in 2013 and I only got calls from community colleges. Threw strikes too. It’s about exposure and letting them see you develop over time.
fr,Now I see 12 y/o travel ball kids throw 80. and him as a grown man can't even top at 90, and has the audacity to tryout for a D1 team? all he is doing is wasting that coaches time.
=@@OmiTYK Yes...12 year old children pitch mid to high 70's in LLWS. A grown man throwing 79? I did face Mark Eichhorn who doesn't throw massive velo, but his breaking ball is crazy. I guess I don't get the joke.
Used to help football players by introducing them to schools. Exclusively Division I. Had a baseball player ask me. Pitcher. Coach was doing nothing. Watching this - and keep in mind I knew nothing about baseball recruiting - I must have been horrible. Two pitch kid. Fastball was consistently over 84. Topped out at 88 MPH. Had really good control on his curve. Had some nasty side spin to it. Was developing a third pitch. Played in Texas. Mid 2 ERA. Had trouble getting him Division II looks. That said, 8 years later he's in a farm system.
When it comes to a LHP theres TONS of d1 teams that would take him, ESPECIALLY as a walk on.. also especially if he had a healthy arm and could eat innings.. and he could definitely play at a lower tier d1 💯💯💯
Not sure what level of baseball you have played in your life but you definitely throw the ball well enough to pitch D-1 especially as a lefty. But I would say your control would need to be a bit better (which you can improve with practice). D1 players have such quick bats they can catch up to just about anything. You would need to hit spots and stay away from the middle of the plate. The Lions seemed impressed with your movement. I would guess that most D-1 coaches would take you on their team if you walked on.
Congratulations on making the team. Now let the pitching coaches develop your follow through and delivery. I'm old school and feel the pitcher needs to field his position. Keep developing your talent and nothing but best wishes to continue to follow your baseball dream.

Can I ask for advice on my pitching
I’m a 6’2 sophomore 175 lbs and I have an absolutely insane curveball. My problem is I’m only hitting 78 off the mound for my fastball. How do I gain velocity?
Mechanics are sloppy
how does a glove tap worsen your delivery and velo? i tend to do it
@@JavierGonzalez-qh2zt velocity, an extra motion. Extra energy in that tap. Have you ever seriously pitched? Like I said mechanics are sloppy.
The energy from the dugout was electric
Hahah ikr

Yeh, he wouldn’t actually make the team
I thought he said he was taking some off it after a rotator cuff tear when he was 16...
I mean Alabama is known for talent. Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige ( negro leagues), and Ozzie Smith and more.
I topped at 90 in 2013 and I only got calls from community colleges. Threw strikes too. It’s about exposure and letting them see you develop over time.
That's amazing that you all can toss it in the 80s. Props!
With that velocity it would be tough to even make a really good high school team.

You guys gotta remember it would be higher but he tore his rotator cuff and it’s kinda hard to trust yourself to throw hard again after such an injury
