This is the first year my dad forgot my birthday. It was heartbreaking, but my dad has dementia. Kody should be ashamed of himself as an able bodied individual, he has no valid excuse. He is so self centered it makes me sick.
When Gabe broke down, it broke my heart. I am proud of Gabe for standing up to Kody though, but no child should ever feel the way Kody makes Janelle's kids feel.
To be honest I think Gabe's reaction to his father forgetting his birthday is a bit much. Yes it hurts when your parents forget something important to you, but the level of heartbreak he felt about something he could have brushed off as a young adult leads me to believe there is much more below the surface going on then we can see. I don't think this is about his birthday. It seems this is more about feeling rejected or that his father doesn't truly love him.

I had the love of my dad, until the narcissists of my family got rid of my dad. They wanted the inheritance. My narcissistic mother and my siblings haven’t called me since for my birthday or any other holiday. I know the pain Janelles kids have because of their narcissistic father.
I cannot understand why this show is not canceled. The heartache of the children is ripping me apart. Am I the only one who cries for Gabriel? If this is scripted, then it is cruel. Kody is not even human. He is void of feelings for his own children, unless they were born to Robyn. I will lose all respect for Jenell if she continues to allow Kody to talk about her kids like they are trash to be thrown out. TLC has a lot of explaining to do. Christine stood up for her kids and got out. I can only hope Jenell does the same for the sake of her children.

I agree.. Have you noticed that we never see him camping with his sons or taking his daughters to get ice cream? You know, the normal things good dads do with their kids. I never see him with his kids except with Robyns kids in the background. The older kids are ignored, abandoned it seems, but Kody turns it all around and blames Christine and Janelle for his lack of good relationships with his older kids. He turns it around to make it look like its their faults and their kids faults.. When its all KODY THE EGO'S fault.
Forgetting a birthday during a call is bad but it can happen even to the best of parents. This son's hurt goes deeper than forgetting to say happy birthday during that first call.
Keep in mind that Robyn's birthday is only a couple days before Gabriel's and I would bet their entire million dollar mansion that he didn't forget hers.

Who makes up their own COVID rules that are unnecessarily stringent, exceeds CDC guidelines, and that causes a father to literally avoid his children and other wives? How self-serving and cruel... What I hate with Kody is that he does crappy things to these people then tries to gaslight and bully them into pretending that his actions were right. He then goes further and punish them if they don't apologize to Robyn as part of accepting the crappy treatment meted out to them.

Feel so bad for Gabriel. It's hard to break away from a parent, but at least he's not on his own! A mom, lots of siblings.. Its not that Kody "just forgot his birthday", its what it meant to Gabriel for him to reach out. It is indicative that Kody can't do the bare minimum for his son who needs him. Gabriel has limited contact with his father, and a birthday phone call and check in should be the most basic effort a dad can extend.16 children is obviously a lot to handle but the issue isnt that hes overwhelmed, its that he has made his priorities *crystal clear*. I am so glad we got to see Christine get out.
Kody cannot control the adult children, and he doesn’t like that at all! I’m so proud of those two boys for being able to express their positions on managing with Covid. Janelle is a wonderful mother!
When I was younger I experienced this..I called my father from Germany while married to a soldier and I didn't want to have to tell my own parent it was my birthday. It's a very heartbreaking moment in your life. It makes you feel like you aren't important enough to remember even though they were one of the people who made you. You heart doesn't forget that..I didn't talk to him for a long time. I learned to speak about how I felt and thank God we healed our relationship bc I'm 37 and lost him in my late 20s. I hope they can heal their relationship. Just from a child and parent relationship standpoint..you have to heal yourself by trying at least

I don’t know how you watched it before Robin came into the picture, because if you go back she’s in season 1 episode one, The very first episode. that’s where he announced he was going to be courting another woman and at the end of the episode Robin is introduced but the kids already know her. But I do agree the family was ruined from the time she came in because Cody never cared about the others after she came.

He is the definition of a narcissist. For Kotex to say he "missed" Robyns daughter while she was isolating during the covid break out proved who he truly cares about. Kotex completely forgot his sons birthday, and puts ALL his wives and children second to Robyn and her children. Kotex freaked about Robyn being in the ER with covid, but could not go with Christine for Ysabel's spinal surgery (major surgery). Robyn was never admitted to the hospital, was never in any real danger, and just like everything else made it seem like she had the "worst" case of covid in the world!!! There are patients on vents to breathe with covid, Robyn never needed even a nasal cannula for oxygen. She always plays everything to the extreme. This man is a worthless father and abusive husband. Who makes up their own COVID rules that are unnecessarily stringent, exceeds CDC guidelines, and that causes a father to literally avoid his children and other wives? How self-serving and cruel... What I hate with Kody is that he does crappy things to these people then tries to gaslight and bully them into pretending that his actions were right. He then goes further and punish them if they don't apologize to Robyn as part of accepting the crappy treatment meted out to them.

The fact that he wouldn't just say Robyn speaks volumes on his need and necessity to protect her at every turn. It is very sickening.
Its not that Kody "just forgot his birthday", its what it meant to Gabriel for him to reach out. It is indicative that Kody can't do the bare minimum for his son who needs him. Gabriel has limited contact with his father, and a birthday phone call and check in should be the most basic effort a dad can extend.16 children is obviously a lot to handle but the issue isnt that hes overwhelmed, its that he has made his priorities *crystal clear*. I am so glad we got to see Christine get out.
Kody cannot control the adult children, and he doesn’t like that at all! I’m so proud of those two boys for being able to express their positions on managing with Covid. Janelle is a wonderful mother!

When I was younger I experienced this..I called my father from Germany while married to a soldier and I didn't want to have to tell my own parent it was my birthday. It's a very heartbreaking moment in your life. It makes you feel like you aren't important enough to remember even though they were one of the people who made you. You heart doesn't forget that..I didn't talk to him for a long time. I learned to speak about how I felt and thank God we healed our relationship bc I'm 37 and lost him in my late 20s. I hope they can heal their relationship. Just from a child and parent relationship standpoint..you have to heal yourself by trying at least

I feel so sad for this, I've watched since before Robyn came into the picture, and she actually ruined their dynamics. You could always tell she was his priority and he was trying to keep up with the others. This shouldn't be aired.
I don’t know how you watched it before Robin came into the picture, because if you go back she’s in season 1 episode one, The very first episode. that’s where he announced he was going to be courting another woman and at the end of the episode Robin is introduced but the kids already know her. But I do agree the family was ruined from the time she came in because Cody never cared about the others after she came.

Gabriel crying broke my soul. I just want to hug this kid. Kotex gaslighting Janell about being "loyal" and playing emotional games with her made me so mad!!!! This man blames everyone but himself. He is the definition of a narcissist. For Kotex to say he "missed" Robyns daughter while she was isolating during the covid break out proved who he truly cares about. Kotex completely forgot his sons birthday, and puts ALL his wives and children second to Robyn and her children. Kotex freaked about Robyn being in the ER with covid, but could not go with Christine for Ysabel's spinal surgery (major surgery). Robyn was never admitted to the hospital, was never in any real danger, and just like everything else made it seem like she had the "worst" case of covid in the world!!! There are patients on vents to breathe with covid, Robyn never needed even a nasal cannula for oxygen. She always plays everything to the extreme. This man is a worthless father and abusive husband. Robyn is a manipulator, and liar. They deserve eachother. PLEASE do a spin off with Janell and Christine!!!! That would be awesome!!!!!
