I think anyone could see it considering it's one ball and a direct route to one flag, as opposed to say seeing a shot on a snooker table with several red balls in various positions and six pockets. It's just that not everyone could have or would have gone for it.

Great effort Mark….but imagine the same in a tournament situation with crowds and the if I pull it off I win…if not I lose. That’s what made Seve special.
Not only did Seve see it, he executed it under pressure. Crowds watching with the risk of losing the tournament. He believed in himself and that's why it came off. He was an amazing talent. Greatly missed.

I was at Feherty's speaking tour, chatting his life in and out of golf, and at the end he asked the crowd if they had questions. I got picked. "Well uh, thank you Mr. Feherty... I remember you golfing in the same era as Seve Ballesteros. He was quite a creative shotmaker - what was the zaniest or best shot you saw him make?" Feherty:"Well, it was a Match game - me and my partner vs Seve Ballesteros and his. We were up +1 on the 17th, a dogleg par 4. Me, my partner, and his drove the corner, but Seve was in a fairway bunker - (one of those old British ones where you needed a ladder to get into ^^). We all chipped for 80 to 100ish yards, you see, and we all got about an 8ft putt up ahead. I turned to my partner, nudged him, and whispered, 'Nice man, we got this in the bag'. Well, Seve walked in with a three-iron. He takes a full swing, WAILS at the ball - giant puff of sand. It blasts into the side of this thing and goes flying some hundred feet in the air and lands in the green, 4 feet from the pin. All our jaws had dropped. He takes one look at us and in broken English goes, 'What?... It's what you call... "Bank shot", no? Bah! "

Seve's probably was. I think he used a classic PW, which would be considered a GW today, and then a 56°, nothing else.
