Grading is an essential part of the production process, as it allows designers and manufacturers to create clothing that fits a range of customers and meets their needs. In the video, I show you how to grade skinny pants by the 2” grading rule.

👩 About me 👩
My name is Jin Kim and I have been a professional pattern maker for over 20 years.
While I had one-on-one teaching besides my full-time work, I could teach only a few people. So, I created a TH-cam channel in 2021 to reach out to more people so that they can get benefits from my experience.
This channel is all about pattern makings. You’re in the right place if you are a young professional or a fashion student who wants to improve your pattern-making skills.

Hi Jin! Thank you for this video! I have a question about the rise growing : at 3:05, you explain that, with a 2’’ grading between size a 1/4’’ for the rise (top of the waist) is good. I was wondering about the images you show at the end of your video with all the sizes done, it is still 1/4’’ ? It’s looks visually like is it less. Just wanted to check if there was an other rule applying for other types of looser pants like trousers. Thank you so much!
Hi, yes, I made a mistake. The screen shows less.
When you do 2" grading at the hip, 1/4" increment at the waist for the rise is good unless you grade the pane length.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for the explanation. I was wondering how you would grade a back yoke if these jeans had one? Would you add the 1/4" in the rise and width of the yoke, or would you add it to the back pant pattern, onto the seam where it joins to the yoke pattern. I am grading a pair of jeans with a back yoke and was wondering how to go about it. Thanks!
I'd keep the yoke height the same for all sizes. So grade the pant.
What about the dart placement , is dartplacement is stable ?
All 3 points for the dart move the same.
Amazing!! Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome 😊
Hy Jin, I want to grade pants down to a smaller size, should I follow the same steps just in an inward direction?
Exactly!!
Thank you very much
My pleasure 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Maam thanks a lot it was really easy to digest and can you teach us please how to make compression wears (rashguard) pattern like yoga legging or yoga top how to make that pattern can you teach us please
Hi, I'll make videos for that later. Thanks 😊
Hello teacher, on 3:50 you put by mistake 1/4" to 0.3cm which is wrong. 1/4" is 0.6cm
@@GigiRockEMO Sorry, once the video is uploaded, I can’t fix it.
