I had to stay in a nursing home for a couple of months to recover from my brain surgeries. It was absolutely awful!! My mother in law and sister in law are both nurses and work at the same retirement home.
I was a nurse in nursing homes for several years and not once did I ever see a taxi pick up a resident and very sadly I don't remember anyone ever leaving unless it was a trip to the hospital and there were many who never had a visitor. I was depressed every day through those years and tried to make my patients days easier but it was difficult because I'd have anywhere between 75 and 125 patients per shift I had to administer medicine and wound care and assessments for each that required it which barely gave me a chance to carry on a conversation with my patients past the necessary and I hated that and constantly stayed in trouble for bringing them stuff and letting them do things that were against the strict prison like rules.. That was in Georgia and I'm not sure how other states are but here is the wrong place to put anyone you care for.. It's really sad to say that too but it's for the most part very true
yeah, I worked in nursing homes, too. The idea that anyone would be reading a book during their shift is unrealistic. You start with high energy, high ideals, high empathy. They don't last. Not because of the residents, but because of the management.

Moreana Air sounds very much like the dementia that has taken my mum far away.

😢 I am so sorry. I watched dementia after a brain bleed and stroke from my stepdad. It broke my mom’s heart.

Scary how they hit the nail on the head of management in care homes. You can lose your job for any reason, be spoken to for any reason and normally it is because they are so batshit incompetent that someone almost dies. This thing we did, because we did not make the change you suggested because of something on our end, it's your fault we understand and are not blaming you only that this is unacceptable you should have let us know. Please know this. Smiles.

I can't believe you could read a book during your shift while working at a nursing home. That does not happen. Also the night shift is when the residents who are unresponsive and immobile get their baths.
