- How does Three Phase Inverter work under 120 degree mode of operation ?
Operation of a three phase inverter circuit using thyristors (SCR) explained with equivalent circuits, current and voltage equations and Voltage plots for line to line and line to neutral voltages.

What a great job explaining this subject. However I like to point out a small mistake. At 6:52 min, the table and graph do not match.At step 1, Vbo is -1/2 so (+1/2 - (-1/2) = Vs. Step 2, Vbo is 0 so =1/2 -0 = 1/2 Vs. No big deal but it might confuse people who try to follow the sequence. 2 thumbs up to you Sir and thanks for posting.

Now, why would I use a 120 mode instead of 180 mode?
I am talking in terms of losses and all the geek stuff.
In 180 degree, as one switch turns off(after 180 deg), next has to turn on(for 180 deg) immediately without a lag in time(180+180=360). That can cause a short circuit and damage the system . In comparison 120 degree offers safer commutation.
