  • In his keynote session at BNIC#1 in Hermanus, Piet Viljoen reflected on both good and bad investments, emphasising how bad investments can cause significant losses, while "Lollapalooza" outcomes-extremely profitable investments-are rare but attainable. He suggested inverting investment strategies, avoiding bad decisions, and seeking undervalued opportunities like energy stocks or South African equities for potential Lollapalooza returns, highlighting past success stories like Naspers and Nvidia.

Thanks Piet! Growth stocks will always be sexier than value, at least in the short term. I suspect the moment SA Inc. gets a growth story going these stocks will skyrocket

Unforuntaley, seldom are their debates only interviews with some personalities of interest or who have views that may be suited to the platform or those sponsoring the platform. imo.

Coal. However, Incinerators to dispose of our waste is a viable alternative. Sweden has five! Russia is interested in building one large incinerator.
No mined starter fuel is needed albeit the waste materials are products from such resources. Incinerators alleviate the pressure on limited landfill sites. Incinerators produce gaseous byproducts that can be harvested for industry. Incinerators generate electricity. Incinerators can be used to power other recycling projects such as metal and glass smelters.
South Africa must guard its Metallurgical Coal resource. The export of our resources must be curtailed, our industry cannot develop without these commoditites.
