Eu acho que para nós "brasileiros" o problema não é o tempo verbal em inglês e sim o fato de não sabermos o mesmo tempo verbal em nosso idioma.
Temos o "eu tenho sido", mas não o usamos e sim dizemos tudo no presente como "eu tenho sido professor há 26. anos ( e, pior, ainda tem que escreva "..... a 26 anos")". Não precisamos usar, mas estudamos isso, se não aprendemos azar de quem não aprendeu. Claro que pode ter mais alguns usos no inglês. O negócio é assimilar, como está sendo explicado no vídeo.
