I think he’s the only one that didn’t try to do this style that’s evolved ever since Future to Uzi and so on.
Normally Earl’s behind the beat, I’ve always described it as the sort of opposite of how newer rappers rap ahead of the beat.
It’s cool to hear the different sound, and how MIKE can effortlessly sound dope in between all them while doing his thing. I get a Zelooperz + Keem vibe from Niontay + Cousteau’s two songs I’ve heard so far.
I wanna say almost half MIKE’s songs have some off-timing element, so it was actually interesting to hear him completely straightforward on the beat here.
