What I can most relate to is Grant's near childlike innocent admiration towards watches. No care about hype, maybe open to suggestions. Ok he's a big guy and he does no research either so the chosen brands are some that are known to polarise quite a bit so finding them before the more subtle ones like Journe or Voutilainen but the guy has genuine fun with them and that's what counts.
I got a $7 fake gold watch from Walmart but that’s still classier than most people. When I was a young supervisor I had a boss ask me where my watch was? I replied that I didn’t have one and he was like go fucking buy one. It was good advice people do take you more seriously when you wear one.

always liked watches. never realy wore any, this country has plenty of clock towers dotted about from place to place which are way more spectacular. I did like the gold one You wanted white gold. and the one You could see through. though I do have a bit more interest in pocket watches. got a promotional pocket watch from assasins creed brotherhood years ago. lost time daily and needed constant winding or the oil would solidify and freeze the mechanism. but the watch I do want is one of two promotional watch from a swiss (there abouts, I think?) manufacturer with reversable face. it took about two three months to manufacture the parts and assemble the watches with a healthy team of over twenty People? can't remember name of the company, or the name of the watch it self. watch making has facinated Me since I was Young. My Dad got Me My first watch when I was about 6-7. then My uncle gave Me one of them self winding watches I had for a few years. one issue that comes up every so often not wearing a watch, is when I ask a Freind what the time is. "half past, quater past, no particular time. can't afford a watch, don't deepend on mine." which is most aggravating since He was in a car crash and suffered some carbon monoxide poisoning causing Him to end His welding carrer as a north sea tiger due to memory loss. so I would hear it two, three, or more times in a short evening. take care Mr Cardone, hope the family is well.
I, like Grant, NEVER pay retail for a watch model. I browse malls, if I see what I want, I ask for the model number, then shop online for the model and filter down for lowest price for new. Never fails. I too, am "cheap". There's no shame in saving money while getting exactly what you want. 💪💪💪

Been getting emails from Grant since the beginning of 2020, lots of great offers but this year has put me in the gutter, this was great to watch two great personalities clashing.
Up until the internet came along the watch biz was very profitable. I made around a million in watchs way back in the day. The internet woke up the buy side of the deal and the margins are razor thin. Now there’s a handful of watchs that are smart plays. Stainless Steal Daytona’s at retail are still a winner. Richard Mille watchs are the absolute worst place to park any money.
