I feel like dub gets a bad rep because anime lines are so cheesy and over dramatic hearing it out loud is hella cringy.
That’s the main reason that I couldn’t get into Naruto.You can only hear “My name is Naruto Uzimaki,BELIEVE IT!” So many time before you want to throw your laptop out of the window.

@@Diggidoo It's funny because people try to learn Japanese from anime. Like, they use language most normal people wouldn't, especaialy if you're watching a shonen anime.
I honestly love both sub and dubs and I get really sad and shy when people look down upon dubs. All the va’s are so goddamn talented and it’s a shame when people completely look the other way when it comes to dubs. It’s quite heartbreaking 🥺 All the voice actors need to be appreciated and recognised for their amazing performances! 🙌🏽
The problem with dubs is because usually(80-90%) they just do worse then jp. Also often situations when they don't match with characters, or if me talk about monogatari after translation some stuff like easter eggs or character unique speech manner just get lost. It's not because actors/translators did bad(tho sometimes they did bad) but because Japanese language is super flexible and rich, unlike English.

My friend has dyslexia and she loved anime, but its very difficult for her to enjoy animes when she watches it subbed, its just difficult for her to follow along with. So she watches anime dubbed. I prefer subbed but I understand that for some people it is simply EASIER to watch dubbed.
I have dyslexia too. It’s so difficult. To watch the anime. Watch the subtitles. Listen to what the characters are going through and understand the whole episode while back tracking a particular scene. I think the only times I watch subs is if I can’t wait another week till they release the next episode dubbed so I just say fuck it
I'm autistic and I normally get overwhelmed trying to read subtitles, but I still will when there's no dub option, I've just gotta prepare myself and after a couple episodes if Im really in love with the show its easy, ive just gotta skip back a lot. I mean I do that with dub too, I skip back more on dub they talk so fast. both are hard for me. but with shows with 50+ episodes I remember having a good time because I started to get a rhythm. and same with some shorter subs because I only paused a little. wait is sub easier for me mmmm...

For me, anime is filled with a lot of cheesy lines. Hearing them in a language I can fully understand makes me cringe LOL. That's why I'm not a fan of dub.

Without dub I wouldn’t have gottten into anime as a child. I love dub when I’m drawing but want to watch or when I just want anime in the background.. and some anime’s I like dubbed better. But I think people who think people who only do subs are the superior fans, I’ve been a fan since I was 5, loving both doesn’t make anyone more or less of a fan!
But live action needs to hold off until they are capable of capturing what’s so great about the shows they are trying to do.

I watched originally in sub but the dub is pretty dang accurate in tone of the Japanese voice actors.
I love anime and I prefer the english dubbed proudly. Thank you american-english dub voice actors because I hate reading the subtitles while trying to focus on what's going on in the show at the same time. For a more complicated or simply fast paced anime doing both at once as a viewer is horrible. There is sometimes the pause button with streaming services now but pausing every sentence even for a brief scene ruins the enjoyment. So, I'll say it again: THANK YOU ENGLISH SPEAKING ANIME VOICE ACTORS FOR YOUR WORK IN ANIME! 🥰💖

Facts
Subbed: Preferred, even though there are many good dubbed shows.
Dubbed: Usually when I'm too tired to read the subtitles. This is decided in the first episode.
Also some subbed anime have awkward translations. I'm not fond of that.
For me it depends on if the voice fits the character. For instance Goku's voice in sub pisses me off so I watch dub. But there have also been some dub voices that just don't fit so i watch the sub of that anime if it is better. If they both suck then i either refuse to watch it or bear with it for the story.

Haha yeah I find that some dub or sub don’t match now I see a character. Like Fairytail, it’s my favourite anime and I love the dub voices over the sub because I find they are specific to that character. Where as like Miss Kobayashis dragon maid and Himouto Umaru chan, the sub voices are where it’s at.

Why
I personally think that most anime isn't creepy, but there are some that can be depending on what the writers and animators have done with their women characters. Even in animes where everything is great and the story is awesome, there are these moments that get unnecessarily sexualized, usually due to a "token pervert character," or perhaps even the main character thinking about his love interest. I think the voice acting for the subs can be a little bit over the top, but nothing that ever irks me out of watching it. The dubs are usually good unless there's too little effort going into it or bad translation or just poor casting.

I watch both Sub and Dub, yes there is a big difference between hearing the original and a dubbed version but it depends on what you are watching. Now, these voice actors I have actually watched the dubbed version of the shows they dubbed see it's not just the show itself but the voice actors also make up the points here, if you are good at your job then people would watched your take on the show and let me tell yuh these guys you have interviewed I have watched a ton of their dubbed voices and they are great at their work.
Also when that one guys said "You are living your dream" I cried cause heck I can never be that person I want to be a designer you see specifically designer for anime clothes. Cosplay is a big part of me and I know many people want to cosplay but does not have the luxury and time to preapair the outfit of their character. I am was once one of those people, until I saved up enough to buy my first cosplay, I am currently preparing to learn sewing so I could make my own. Currently there is no official shop or store that sells clothes specifically made for cosplay, I am talking about one that actually use real fabric and not printed cheap clothes. I wanted to be the first one but sadly I may not be able to accomplish that. My sister is following on my footsteps and seeing as I do not see a future of me following my dream best way for me to still feel part of it is to help my sister with hers.
Long comment but I am crying I hope that other people don't get to experience my hardship and actually accomplish their dreams. I am not supported by my family of being a designer and now I must take up medical field. Currently I am a college student taking up Medical Technoloy and I am doing my best to make them proud but I am failing in doing so. When I see my blockmates wearing that white laboratory gown, they look like the part, I on the other hand, well I just looked like wearing a coat I feel not part of the group I wanted to quit multiple times as I am already failing 3 major subjects and can't seem to keep up. I have a feeling I may be disowned by my father sooner or later, fingers crossed I am hoping for a miracle that in the end I will pass, heck it's just my first semester and I am already at rock bottom sorry for the irrelevant long comment but pls do help me.
I cannot get advice from my family because they expect big from me. i do not care if you straight up judge me, criticize me, or say whatever you want. I'm talking about those specific cliches of anime characters, like those shy girls who are like "ummm, senpai...?" and blushing. That works way better in Japanese than English, because we don't call people "teacher" and stuff unless they actually are, and it's not a common trope in American culture to be that shy girl with big tits who literally can't talk to guys and blush all the time lol.
Also, there are specific terms in Japanese that don't really work when translated. If you've ever watched a lot of dubbed anime, you've probably noticed a lot of times they'll be like "come to think of it..." like, no one says that in English, especially within internal monologue. Even saying "itadakimasu, or "gochisousama" work better in sub than dub, because no one loudly announces "digging in!" before eating...which is something I saw last week when watching dub.
I just feel like it sounds awkward sometimes watching these dubs and knowing what it should be in Japanese, then seeing English speakers trying to copy it. It doesn't work sometimes.

The thing about dubs is that it’s an interpretation. It’s never going to be the same. Not just due to the language, but because of the culture. And especially if certain stuff is directed at a difference audience.
