I watched this series this morning and the whole time I was thinking about how this binder and theme would be perfect for my mom. Well, this afternoon I went to Goodwill and found this very binder still in plastic. I couldn't believe it and I'm so excited to do this for her as a gift.
Aww! That's so awesome! I'm so glad you found one. I loved that one and it was perfect for a journal. I hope you have so much fun creating it, Crystal! tfw
Thank you, Dennis! And welcome! It's nice to meet new friends! I hope you get so much joy out of your journey with journals ... it's so much fun!! Big Hugs
I Have been collecting cookbooks of all types. I have so may projects I have to finish, that can’t start my first one yet but I have been picking up so many ideas from you and other wonderful crafters.
that's wonderful! Try not to let it overwhelm you, because it's easy to do. Just pick one project and start ... work on it til it's finished and then move on to the next. I find that making a list of ones I want to create helps! Happy crafting!
Diane, you put me in my happy place with this video. I know nothing about putting ring binders into journals. This cannot be too in depth for me, and so far learning a lot. Looking for to part 2. ❤️
Thank you Diane for doing this series. I have several ring binders and I've just been waiting for someone to do a tutorial. Can't wait to start working on the first of many.
Love your instructions and how detailed you are which Is what i need. lol I do need and want to do a recipe journal of my recipes for my daughter as I know she'll appreciate once Im gone. lol
Looking forward to this series I have binders this will be a great learning experience more detail the better. Thanks for taking the time putting this together.
So excited for this series. I have a couple binders awaiting me. You got me hooked on binders from the first time I bought my binder from you. They seem very forgiving and so cool as you can add or subtract from them.
You are doing an awesome job! I don't think people realize the work that goes into the ring binders. I punch my holes with a single hole punch too. I have a soft grip one if I find another one I'll send it to you. It's a little easier on the hands. I'll be starting mine soon! Tfs, big city hugs Kay 💜
I always pick too many pages. But that is ok. I made 3 ring binder books for Christmas gifts. One for my daughter and one each for my granddaughter and one for my grandson. They do take a lot of time to do. But fun!!!😁❤️. Love the video.
I'm glad you are doing this series. Got my first JJ in progress now. Do you fussy cut out images for your journals...I'd so what are the hints to it? Thanks Mary
Mary, I don't fussy cut anything because I stink at cutting. Couldn't cut a straight line if you gave me a million dollars, lol. I see a lot of ladies who do fussy cut, and I've tried, but it always turns out horrible lol
Never heard of junk journaling. I love the look. But perplexed about how any recipes can be added. My current dilemma is that my three ring wants to pop open. Considering using an expandable post scrap book.
Recipes can be added in pockets and tucks, or directly in the rings themselves. You can also use washi tape to add them to each page, since it's a removable tape. If your rings are popping open, I suggest getting a different ring binder so you don't have to constantly fight with it. If you love crafting, and watch a few videos on junk journaling, you will be instantly hooked!
enjoying your process, actually very relaxing as well as informative! I just about fell over when you said Peter Panic Buttons! My Mom use to make those when I was a kid... way back when lol I am curious as to what that recipe has to say! The one I have is in my Mom's cookbook, handwritten. I have rewritten/typed it up and put it on the tablet with all my other recipes, so I don't damage her precious books! Her recipe is as follows: PETER PANIC BUTTONS 1 c. crunchy peanut butter 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. (firmly packed) brown sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 1 1/2 c. sifted flour 3/4 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 5 doz. M&Ms Cream the peanut butter and butter in a bowl. Add sugars gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and egg and beat well. Sift the flour with soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly. Chill dough if necessary. Shape into balls, using a heaping teaspoon for each and place on cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Top each cookie with an M&M and cool on racks.
Haha, I went back and watched the video to see if I could figure out what book it came out of and what I did with the recipe, so I could send it to you .. .but I realized I put it in the journal, lol. You might could get Nan to send you a screenshot of it!
That's old medical tape on the front cover. I remember it from my mom coming home will rolls of it in her pockets from work & I had to wash her items & pull out all her stuff before I washed it. For 3 hole punches the mechanisms that punch the holes are usually adjustable so you can move them to match what you need. Just an FYI. Also I use a 50% alcohol solution to rub off sticky residue and/or stickers. That along with heat works great. Easy & no damage to the paper. I would love to see how you reinforce the cover of the book. Liking this so far. Great info.
How do others feel about 2 sided paper? I dont like them. I want both sides so i dont use them unless I am using them as part of a signature and both sides show. Ive often wondered why mfg do that.
I had the same problem for a very long time. I always wanted to use both sides of the paper. I had to learn that it's okay if some of the beauty of it doesn't always show, because I know it's there, so I had to just learn to be happy with that. But I, too, mostly just use my 2 sided paper as signatures. I am learning to use it in other things and be okay with it.
how would one make a 15 year teen age journal how can one go about that as me and my son spend lots of time he watches on me as i been ill but he sees im into joural making and he now wants to make one for him can any one help s out with sagestions on how and i dont think there is teen age boy looking papers to buy right
I would just use neutral colored papers and add pops of his favorite color here and there. Keep it simple, and not frilly and it should work perfectly for him! Have fun crafting!
I only have one issue with diy...by showing the world how to do this stuff...I end up out of work because everyone is doing it for themselves, including the thrifting. I refuse to tell all so that I am out of work. I will tell my protege's and those who pay for my "how to" literature. But my secrets and mysteries are mine alone. When I share too much, I become obsolete. If everyone is DIY... I lose my usefulness as an artist.
This can be true to a point, but I also believe that your business grows by helping others. It can be a 2 edged sword, but you will always be blessed by helping others. You, my friend, will never be useless as an artist
Cute vid but please work on editing out unnecessary footage. Like we didn’t need to see you remove the price sticker for sooooo long. We’re not stupid and we know how to remove price tags.
Maybe my first edited video should be teaching people how to use a mouse to click off of a video they don't like? Pity ... the price sticker portion was just a precursor to the mouse video

You are just the sweetest, most thoughtful person, Kay! I love you real big!
I think you’re doing fine, giving the right amount of info, etc. I like the series!
oooooh gonna try that gift card tip for removing stickers! thanks :)
You can also use a hairdryer to heat the sticker, and it peels easier with the gift card.
Love it now I want to go find some old books!!!
Please show us the whole process from start to finish.....love this project.....💛
I did ... there is a whole series of these videos
I always pick too many pages. But that is ok. I made 3 ring binder books for Christmas gifts. One for my daughter and one each for my granddaughter and one for my grandson. They do take a lot of time to do. But fun!!!😁❤️. Love the video.
Goo gone works amazing ... takes off all the sticker and doesn’t harm the book. Just the slick covers.
Have you tried a hairdryer or heat gun to remove price stickers? Life changing!
I'm totally trying this next time!
You are so sweet! Thank you for being you!!!!!
Perfect details
Thank you so very much, subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!

@@shawcraft1 I make a mess all the time. And I can't draw a straight line, sure can't cut straight either. Lol
Wonderful information! Thank you!

Use a blow dryer to soften the sticker adhesive. Sticker should come right off.
Erin Klossner That’s how I do it 😊
awesome tip! thanks!

Where is the best place to get books to get pages for journals ? Thrift stores ?
I get most of my books from thrift stores!
Perfection 😍😍😍😍💙

WD 40 removes the stickiness from glue or stickers without damaging the paper.
Excellent! Yay! Thank you so much for sharing the tip. I'm definitely going to try it, Dee.
show me everything!!!!!
