Hey Alicia Keys you look so beautiful singing this song and you are my favorite female artist and I hope to meet you and Swizz Beatz soon and thank you very much Alicia Keys 💙
With the perfect vision of 2020 hindsight, this song takes on a new blush to me. It is quite a piece of work that feels like a plea from black people in the the nation, forced into a marriage with white people they did not ask for. The lyrics are a testament to "apathy" as pretty as you can make it. The beauty of the song is it ends in an invitation for a conversation, that must be had because it is clear we are going to have to live with each other for awhile. The last 18 months for this nation has been like one concussive event after another that does bring discomfort. Seeing things as a light sculptor in the middle of the Show Me state, I see truth emerging from the sidelines through the filter of the nation's Soul. Thank you for posting this! It is one of the most expressive works worthy of the legacy of Lady Day, and Ms. Keys gives it respect and homage as we feel the print of her Soul. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
The girl with the voice of pure gold. I can think of one particular record way back that I know would not have sold without her voice her contribution. I was kind of hoping that Alicia would listen to some more blues music and go beyond Billie Holiday to Bessie Smith and a TH-cam collection called ladies sing the blues. Going back to the twenties. And they do get down and nasty. I love it. Enjoy everybody. We are all behind you, can you feel our love.
Rigtig god udgave af en af de sange der har betydet mest for mig, en af de sange jeg har spillet, selv, for andre med størst indlevelse... da den handler om mig. :-)
was checkin out billie this morning & this song is one of my favorites.saw this on the side & decided to see but thought even YOU could not do the song justice. please accept my apologies, it's phenomenal alicia.
Hey Alicia Keys my name is tevin mabry I like this song and you sing so beautiful and you are my favorite female artist and I hope to meet you soon and I love you Alicia Keys 💙
It's almost impossible for me to hear this song and not think of the legendry "Lady Day" and all the hardships she went though. So it is with the deepest love and respect to Billie that I submit this comment of Ms. Keys rendition of the Holiday tune. The track is elegantly done. She adds another dimension to this classic that has been done many times by many great artist. She sings it with the feeling befitting a blues song yet toward the end of the track there is a little giggle which adds volumes to this song. A giggle ( that intended or not ) so typically under scored Billie Holidays attitude toward life. A lady who endured much heartaches but always held a little giggle in her spirit ( which people tend to forget about her ) and a "this too will pass" attitude. A splendidly done version and splendidly submitted upload.
Good morning, Heartache. Heartache. Heartache and a giggle!! Where do they go together, Jesus Christ? Next time, she, or rather, all of us should sing: Good morning, Heartache, let's have a party and a blast, honey, shall we? Let's laugh, or rather, giggle until we die. Good night, my grave( That's attitude, isn't it?)😊😊😊
you have to be a very great singer to sing this song for it to flow right. Diana Ross version is my 1st fav. however Alicia song this song very nicely and she makes my 2nd fav. version.
The movie The Edge of Tomorrow is the invasion of Europe. So we not looking for Europe to be invaded from outer space by machines in ten years time, ok, please.
Yes, indeed. Let's have a laugh, heartache? You can do that for me can't you, heartache? Laugh, honey, and so shall I. Now we can sing Irving Berlin's Blue Skies. Isn't that delightful, heartache?
Alechia Keys is not bad, she never could sing for me only one song you dont know my name. But if she keeps it up she probably will be fine. She should ofsang jzz style in the beginning but I guess she could not because she was a young girl trying to find her way. Maria is my name.
I love Alicia, but, regardless of other comments, by far, Ella Fitzgerald breaks her (and all the listeners) heart to this song. Lady Day, all my due respect, but this one belongs do ELLA
beautiful rendition but sorry i don't like the laughing at the end just spoil the mood. I understand why she did that but will be good to let the note fall and laugh after a short while. Just can't savor that last note. a pity.
This is actually from an interview with Marian McPartland from PBS which is why she was laughing at the end. She sung this in an open space with Marian McPartland trio jazz band while she was being interview by her.
Cool piano intro. Very nice understanding by the piano, but Alicia is overthinking it--too loud, too strong, too up for me on a song that is supposed to lament the day

The piano is gorgeous
Good job sweetie...I wish more R&B artist would show us their jazz...Come on wit it!!!!
This is stunning from the very talented Alicia keys, her voice is gorgeous in this song.she should make a jazz album.
I think she nails it. I'd love to hear Alicia sing more jazz. She's super-talented!
Billie Holiday's is a timeless classic but my fav is Diana Ross in Lady Sings the Blues. Alicia did her thing as usual. Love it.
Exactly how I feel
Listen to Mikki Howard ! Her vocal is stunning .Alicia Keys Plano is good but singing ain’t it.

My favorite version of this song is the duet sung by Tony Bennet and Sheryl Crow.
Wonder what that song would be with Amy Winehouse's voice... i like Alicia keys' version tho
YES.
A good version of this is Jill Scott and Chris Botti live.
I still love Diana Ross's version...

I don’t understand your reference to Ladyday in the middle of your comment on Ella Fitzgerald.
This is a great interpretation, but Ella's is the absolute best.
Very average
