- In this video Lizzie reflects on how the Stranger has changed her by bursting into her life and touching her heart for the first time in many years, being on her own after she'd left Frankie's abusive father. I think the song portrays so well her inner struggles about opening her heart again to someone who is a complete stranger but who has forged an exceptional bond with Frankie and her in just one day. In the end, she gives in and falls in love and together with Frankie she waits for his return, whenever that may be...
I love 'Dear Frankie' so much, and I always wondered if the Stranger, Marie's brother ever returned to them...but I like to believe that he did, and eventually the three of them became a real family. :)
The song is a true masterpiece, 'This Year's Love' by David Gray. Lyrics below, as usual.:)
I know the clips and the song are both very slow but please bear with it, it's intentional so it kind of reflects the melancholy feeling of the film and the hesitancy between Lizzie and the Stranger.

Lyrics:
This year's love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
I've been waiting on my own too long
When you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can't go on
Turning circles time again
It cuts like a knife
If you love me got to know for sure
'Cause it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
When you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet
This year's love had better last
This year's love had better last
So who's to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on
Won't you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet
This year's love had better last
This year's love had better last
This year's love had better last
This year's love had better last
