This song was what sparked my interest in going back to learn Hmong traditional songs. When my mother died, I felt lost and empty. I tried to find a way to keep her memory alive with me. In doing so, I combed through many fond memories of her, but the ones that stood out the most were those late nights we shared when she was teaching me Hmong kwv txhiaj. She was patient with me even though the pronunciation of Hmong words was hard for me. She was proud. I can see it in her eyes. She was delighted that she could pass along something to me. She and I talked and learned kwv txhiaj for many hours into the night until I finally found my perfect pitch. Well, as perfect as I can get it to be. I embarked on this journey in launching my TH-cam channel to share and teach Hmong traditional songs to those eager to learn so that one day you too can find our time as memorable as mine was with my mother.
