It's actually weirdly coincidental how I've been looking at videos about retro handhelds over the past few days because I've been seriously considering picking one up, than you upload this. 😭
Recently got the RG40XX H and i love it. I put knulli on it straight away and copied over one of my other batocera builds on it. My original miyoo mini as much as i love it gets no use anymore. The 4" screen on the RG40XX H is a real step up without the device being too large IMO 👍
The Trimui is unbeatable. A $200 Retroid may be better in some respects but only some and I'd rather carry around a $40 handheld than a $200 one (and play on a proper monitor with a powerful PC at home). And if anything goes wrong with it, finding $40 for another one is as easy as blinking.
I've never understood the argument that Android is more difficult to setup, when just like most of the other handhelds most systems are going to end up being run through Retroarch, and if you can setup Retroarch on those you can set it up on Android. Now of course there are those systems that come completely setup and you have to do nothing with them but that's surely an unfair comparison, surely it should be setup vs setup not setup vs already setup. I am also one of those that doesn't get the 1:1 devices. They aren't suited for 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 or most other aspect ratios. The only one that it actually seems designed for is Pico-8 and I just find it odd to build handhelds around a 'console' that never actually existed. My top handheld of this year didn't come out this year and it's the Anbernic Arc-S. It's damn near perfect for Sega systems and Arcade fighters. It's also another of those Linux handhelds that I had to setup because the default firmware was terrible. The only downside for me is that the standby battery life is terrible, custom firmware makes it better but it will still sometimes randomly die overnight despite having a near full charge.
You're saying the Arc dies overnight while having a full charge?? That's a brand new device!! It shouldn't be doing that. You might want to let it die completely, unplug the battery, wait like 10 hours or a day, then replug it back in.
@@Cyko.. It dies on the default firmware overnight every time. It was a pain to have to remember to turn it off fully but if I didn't I'd wake to a dead console and have to charge it again. It's better on the Retro Arena firmware but still dies overnight on occasion. I'll give your battery tip a try and see how it goes. At this point it is not as if it could make it worse.

The RG40XX H is a solid little workhorse that’s for sure.

I didn't realize how big the bezels were on the RP Mini. Yikes.
