Venona, It sounds like you're looking at synthetic toppers for that price. While I am not an expert, I have been researching toppers & alternative hair for quite a few years before purchasing mine, so I think I might be able to answer your question. There's a lot to think about when buying a topper. You have to think about the type & size of the base. Silk bases are the best for a realistic scalp appearance. Monofilament is the next best thing. Hand-tied with wefted backs is another thing to look for. The wefted back allows your scalp to breathe while the hand-tied hair sits better than the machine-stitched toppers. You also have to decide if you want a lace front or if that doesn't worry you. A lace front allows you to have a realistic hairline at your forehead, especially if you won't be blending it with your own natural bio hair. If you intend on blending the front of your hairline with the topper, then the lace front becomes pointless. Two clips will not be secure enough, but you can buy the clips separately & sew them in yourself. There are tutorials on youtube showing you how to do that. The cheaper the price, the poorer the quality will be in most cases. But the cheap ones are ok if you are prepared to accept that they may only last a few months depending on how you care for them & how often you wear them. Jon Renau & Raquel Welch toppers are of decent quality for synthetics & can be found quite easily. The best advice I can give you is to do a separate review search on any topper that you think you might like to purchase just to see what has been said without the bias of the site you're buying from. Also, be aware that you will have to buy specialized shampoos, conditioners & care products specifically made for synthetic hair. Most sites that provide the toppers will also sell those. Human hair toppers are considerably more expensive but are by far better quality. Sadly, they are also out of many people's budgets. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with synthetic toppers & their price often means that you can purchase more than one topper at a time. Hope this helps.
