At my school, there is a cosplay club (which I'm in) I'm going to be cosplaying as tsuyu asui from MHA but I kind of got it last minute and that's why I'm watching this video so I don't do that again. I ordered it because I'm not creative and I can't make stuff worth my life unlike You, you can actually do that. But anyways, the convention we're going to is comic con revolution in Ontario CA. Thanks for the advice as well! ^ w ^
This showed up in my recommended and it's great! I'm very disorganized and I want to get into cosplay again after taking a few years of a break and that adhesive chart looks like a godsend.
Oh awesome!! I definitely encourage you to get back into it. I took like a 4 year hiatus when I was younger and getting back to it was life changing :D and hell yes, I use that adhesive chart all the time!
Finally I’ll be able to cosplan properly! XDD I’m soon starting a Wonder-Tweek cosplay and I was stressing out so much over all the planning for tge sewing and all that so now I’m more than ready to start!
honestly, this has helped me a TON. before I saw this video, i kept a small little notebook of cosplaying plans, and when i saw how intricate and detailed it can be, it makes me wonder how i got 2 years into cosplay without ANY plans whatsoever like this. also the adhesive chart is literally. my favorite thing i cannot even tell you. the number one thing i wish i did earlier was budgeting, because hOOH boy i love to cosplay homestuck, and that is EXPENSIVE. so this tutorial helped me with not getting overwhelmed
I'm so glad the video is helpful for you! Planning is something I focus greatly on and devote a lot of time to. It just makes everything else go so much more smoothly!
"now I just KINDA suck at geometry." lmao I feel that. I've never been confident enough to cosplay fully, like costume and all. I finally decided that one of my goals for this year is to muster up enough willpower to complete a full body one. I'm thinking about doing Kurenai from Naruto and I'm so excited, but a little scared. I didn't realize when I started getting into cosplay how much confidence it really takes!! Thank you for making this video, it really helped!
I’m getting into cosplay and I’ve been watching your videos and you’ve been SO MUCH HELP!! I just want to say thank you and best of luck for your future cosplays!!
I love cosplay planning. My process is to get a few references of the character’s canon design or look at fan art that character has as well as some historical silhouettes and shapes I could utilize when making my costumes. Things like seam placements, patterns, undergarments and accessories are quite crucial to achieve the look I want. Making sketches, finding extant garments from museum collections and bending the character’s look to my will is really a way to achieve a very unique costume that nobody has ever seen before.
Thanks! I do use stretch fabrics and many other modern stuff to make a historically inspired or almost historically accurate attire and uniqueness is the best way to show skills. I love you cosplay planning video. Its very helpful since I do have to find a more effective way to plan my cosplays.
Personally, I love cosplays, but the way that I wanna do it is by making my own characters, sorta like a Halloween costume. I LOVE being creative, and, well, I want to make my own super cool costumes!!

Outstanding cosplay video! Definitely gives us innovative ways for producing new content for our channel! We are always wanting to team up with other channels too.
I'm thinking about making a cosplay and I was wondering if it's important to use a pattern. I think I can make my own pattern for how I want it to be, but I see patterns being sold online and at stores and stuff. It kind of confused me because isn't it better to make your own pattern that buy one? Or is there a big difference in using one you didn't make? I already sketched out how I want to cut out the pieces and where to sew them together. I just need to figure out the measurements now. Are patterns just used by people that don't feel like doing all of that?
I make my own patterns, but I would recommend anyone novice at sewing try to find a similar piece at goodwill and deconstruct it to understand how garments work. I honestly think a lot of store bought patterns can be confusing and turn newer cosplayers away. I say make your own! Use muslin fabric and make a mockup before using your good fabric to make sure the pattern you make will fit properly and you dont end up wasting expensive stuff :)

Do you have any tips for how to keep multiple cos plans organized? This is something I personally struggled with, because I can be a little ADHD with characters I want to cosplay as.
I would say keep all your ideas on a list, and prioritize which ones you most want to do. If you narrow it down to a top 5 or top 10 for the next couple of years, that can help. If you do cosplays specifically to wear to cons, picking which cons you want to make which cosplays for will be a good way to then decide which ones to focus on first! Any cosplays I'm serious about doing, I print off the references and put them in my cosplay binder so it's a physical reminder of what I should focus on. Hope that helps! Sorry for the late reply :)
