Xbox shaping on this direction is from the fact that the physical sales arent delivering as much as people complain and claim to be. Xcloud doesnt get enough of appreciation on what it does. Smart delivery never got the applause of what offers to you by sparing to buy a version for the new console. Backward compatibility never got the appretiation because most of the people regardless of the advantages it offers, they bought a PS5 that offers nothing.... except for some ps4 games that you cannot enhance them since you need to buy spiderman 1 for ps5. We complain alot but we never appreciate much of what xbox has tried to give us since 2017. You can play alot of new games coming day one for basically free if you have the sub already. We left dreamcast burn as we left psvita down too until nintendo lectured us in 2022 with a OLED version and a hardware weaker than a ps4 released 9 years before... and psvita had a oled in 2012

I used to be a big Xbox guy, but now I have a living room PC with PC gamepass and a ps5 pro. There's no reason to buy their consoles just to pay more for gamepass and online play and be capped at 30fps
I just want to play games on a powerful system that was designed to run them at their best, and I'd wager that's what a vast majority of Xbox fans that have been around since the original or 360 want. Sure, they're giving you that option but they're not committed to supporting that console with a competitive strategy that will give them a strong place in the industry. Those of us that have spent years/decades and thousands of dollars on this ecosystem cannot rest assured that the ecosystem we've invested in will still exist in 10-15 years. I don't have faith in Phil Spencer's vision and have been shifting more and more toward PS5 this generation, where I've had much more fun and enjoyed way more consistent high-quality experiences than I have in the last decade of being an Xbox gamer. And the worst part is, going forward I'm not even going to have to dust off my Series X in order to play Xbox's biggest first-party games - I can just stay on my PS5. Sure, making everything an Xbox will bring in new engagement and a fleeting uptick in the number of users engaging with the ecosystem, but those numbers won't last and the loss of trust from their longest and most loyal customers is going to hurt them way more than a traditional console strategy would.
Imagine being a fan of Xbox or PlayStation for 20-30 years of your life and all you have to look forward to in the future is cloud streaming and no first party exclusivity

As someone that has several Xboxes around the house, a desktop, laptop, Android phone and a ROG Ally, I like the fact a portion of my Xbox library now works on ALL of those devices. Joke about this campaign all you like, but it's a good way to let consumers that aren't hanging on gaming news sites all day to understand the idea and it brings people into the ecosystem
That's what the single console PS fans dont understand. Sony wants us to rebuy our games up to x3 to get to play it on whatever console they have out .They always overcharge for games in their store, they have turned into the digital console version of Gamestop. I enjoy both consoles, but my main console play comes on xbox. Fanboys are scared of the future. Xbox One had all these things that are now common place on a console, but some of these same fanboys were crying and hollering, when MSthey introduced it and they acted like Sony was with them smh...

I remember having a 360 and loving it but I couldn’t get an Xbox One cause I don’t have a way to get WiFi so I went with a PS4. Eventually I had WiFi and waited until the launch of the Series consoles cause it looked like they were finally going to try and make a comeback but after 4 years, I’m just dissatisfied with the product. It’s a shame
I switched to PlayStation about a year ago after being a loyal Xbox guy. It was an exciting transition and I don't regret it for a moment. Microsoft's shenanigans and not caring about exclusives over the last few years drove my decision. I'm excited about Indiana Jones and was a little disappointed that I wouldn't be able to play it. But then they announced they're going to put it on the PlayStation anyways. Microsoft's bad decisions are benefiting me being on PlayStation now. Ha. Hilarious. If both PlayStation and Microsoft had amazing exclusives for their consoles I might be inclined to be one of the guys who does both. Personally I like being in just one ecosystem and focusing on that. But if they both had awesome exclusives I probably would do both. But don't really need to now. Can just play 99% of it on PlayStation including PlayStations incredible exclusives.

They need to analyze what made the OG Xbox a success. It’s cool you can stream and buy digital games. But not everyone can nor wants to do so. Also they moving away from physical media was the last straw for Me after years of them making games and not fully support them. And when they did it only lasted 2 years or so. Gears 5 clear example.
Is it? I own an Xbox but their messaging doesn't take anything from their box which works well. - Cloud saves just work. - Quick resuming multiple games just works. - It has the option to install on external or internal or automatically on different storage. - It has game pass which is still quite good. - They have a good selection of games coming out over the next year on Xbox first. - it has a better zoom function than other systems or at least on par with the Switch (for those with visual issues). - the Xbox series s is a very affordable entry to this gen or those wanting to get Xbox alongside Switch or ps5.
Is it so difficult to say we're going third party? And you're 💯 right, you don't need to be the number one, only to have enough units to maintain the interest of developers to port their games to your console. The blame is on Satya, it's doing the same on Surface unit.
I fail to see the problem here when it's creating accessibility for people with cloud streaming; there is still a place for xbox for those who don't appreciate the instability/lag of cloud streaming with current games. I'm happy they're moving this direction for accessibility, it seems like people are just upset because it "devalues" their xbox, which seems like a stupid reason to be upset that more people can enjoy experiences.
I’ve grown up with each generation of Xbox and to see what’s happening is honestly depressing. This isn’t Xbox at all. They’ve truly lost their way, and I’m just hoping and praying that they either change course or cease to exist now.
Nothing has changed with the Xbox console? Games are releasing on it as they were before for those who prefer console gaming. Since when was having more options to access your games ever a bad thing? I play my Xbox games between PC, Xbox on my TV, or my Rog Ally handheld depending on the situation on how i want to play, all of them let's me pick up and carry on where i left off and i don't need to buy multiple copies of the same game to do it so how exactly is that a bad thing?
I'm one of those people who thinks the industry needs a 2nd "home" console. Sony, when left alone, are not good to their audience. This is going to be a big problem for all of us who prefer console.

Random comparison but Xbox complaining about "We've lost the console war" reminds me of a company that made a browser called Arc browser (that I use) and the CEO decided to make a new product because and I quote "Our browser didn't have a billion users" and mind you they have like millions of people using their product. I'm legit watching this on my Series X. Also, their only doing this because they only care about Game Pass. Like you can't even access it on other devises that not an actual Xbox without Game Pass. I ditched Xbox officially after “4 games, and those 4 games are not Starfield or Indiana Jones” (for 20 years Xbox was my primary console)… I’m glad I did cause heck they then decided to close tango, then announce Indiana jones on ps5, then delayed avowed cause they had too many games after a decade of no games lololol. But hey, I guess it’s working for them at least for now.
For me personally the best combo for an international truck driver like me is xbox at home connected to the internet and remote control play with xbox app on my phone and a controller I play offline rpgs like dragon dogma 1 and diablo 3 so I dont even have any subscription

Xbox is no longer a home console. It's literally bare Bones subscription service. Just like Grand theft, Auto v was no longer a single-player experience the moment. Rockstar realized they could make a thousand times more profit off of microtransactions.
Other than the Xbox X being more powerful, Microsoft bought tons of studios while on the Xbox One era and released almost no games meaning that on the Xbox X era everyone expected all these games to come out… Yet this did not happen, no games have come out and they can now be played from anywhere which is good but also stupid and bad. The point of a console is for it to be a gaming specific device capable of running games without any hassle and great exclusive experiences and third party support drive console sales!!! I’m going to go with the fringe rumors that Xbox gamepass will be priority, moving forward, and that they will offer a “budget” handheld device (Series S quality, or better), and the high end console ($700-1000 range). They will be third party, plus niche devices. That said, I feel like that’s where gaming is going to end up, regardless. We are going to end up as PC and niche hardware/consoles.
I think the biggest mistakes were ending og xbox/360 backwards compatability-fps boost, game pass price increases/taking xbox day one games out of game pass standard, delaying and releasing big games unfinished, closing studios. Xbox has been talking about the future for a long time many games they announced back then as exclusives even before the series x was out are still in development or we never heard about these anymore. Finally 2025 looking really good for xbox. The showcase 2024 was great and here we are they are talking about a new strategy another future you dont need an xbox no more console exclusives. Really tired of Xbox. I feel like Xbox is making many promises and talking about the future since 2014 but messaging changes every few years a different strategy, a different vision.
Who cares about the console war? It was never a real competition and X-box has never truly cared about it, why start now? Seriously, Xbox is just a PC alternative, it's literally what they have always branded it, but to give up like that? Not only it's stupid, it's also a non issue. Make it modular, make a core console and then instead of producing all of it, just sell upgrades, same as with a computer, literally makes products easier to afford if you can buy pieces and easily swap parts... You'd think a company that's almost specifically focused on computers would know a thing or two out of working with computers.
I think that people are missing the point. The service being available on pretty much all devices is such a great concept. Though, funny enough it isn't even supported on our Amazon TV.
Also, I don't see how making it easier for users to play XBox games is going to prevent others from playing their XBox. I still use my series X to do the majority of my gaming at home.
Xbox really needs to come out and just admit their failure. They can't sell their console and they can't sell their games, all they have is game pass. Just tell us you're going 3rd party and your games aren't exclusive anymore and you can play 'gamepass' on anything with an internet connection and a screen. We all knew this was coming, it's not going to shock or surprise anyone.
Instead of trying to learn from mistakes and actually utlize the plethora of ip they have they insist on doing everything but the reason people buy a god damn console in the first place. As much as I don't care for Xbox I was hoping they'd realize how badly they've screwed up and finally give me a reason to buy one. They need to analyze what made the OG Xbox a success. It’s cool you can stream and buy digital games. But not everyone can nor wants to do so. Also they moving away from physical media was the last straw for Me after years of them making games and not fully support them. And when they did it only lasted 2 years or so. Gears 5 clear example.
Is it? I own an Xbox but their messaging doesn't take anything from their box which works well.
- Cloud saves just work.
- Quick resuming multiple games just works.
- It has the option to install on external or internal or automatically on different storage.
- It has game pass which is still quite good.
- They have a good selection of games coming out over the next year on Xbox first.
- it has a better zoom function than other systems or at least on par with the Switch (for those with visual issues).
- the Xbox series s is a very affordable entry to this gen or those wanting to get Xbox alongside Switch or ps5.
Is it so difficult to say we're going third party? And you're 💯 right, you don't need to be the number one, only to have enough units to maintain the interest of developers to port their games to your console. The blame is on Satya, it's doing the same on Surface unit.

I fail to see the problem here when it's creating accessibility for people with cloud streaming; there is still a place for xbox for those who don't appreciate the instability/lag of cloud streaming with current games. I'm happy they're moving this direction for accessibility, it seems like people are just upset because it "devalues" their xbox, which seems like a stupid reason to be upset that more people can enjoy experiences.
I’ve grown up with each generation of Xbox and to see what’s happening is honestly depressing. This isn’t Xbox at all. They’ve truly lost their way, and I’m just hoping and praying that they either change course or cease to exist now.
Nothing has changed with the Xbox console? Games are releasing on it as they were before for those who prefer console gaming. Since when was having more options to access your games ever a bad thing? I play my Xbox games between PC, Xbox on my TV, or my Rog Ally handheld depending on the situation on how i want to play, all of them let's me pick up and carry on where i left off and i don't need to buy multiple copies of the same game to do it so how exactly is that a bad thing?
I'm one of those people who thinks the industry needs a 2nd "home" console. Sony, when left alone, are not good to their audience. This is going to be a big problem for all of us who prefer console.

Random comparison but Xbox complaining about "We've lost the console war" reminds me of a company that made a browser called Arc browser (that I use) and the CEO decided to make a new product because and I quote "Our browser didn't have a billion users" and mind you they have like millions of people using their product. What Xbox is doing is stupid and just shows they do not understand gaming. Even then Sony isn't any better with the choices their making. I feel like truly the company that is thriving in this generation is Nintendo because they make good games and not stupid choices. I mean Sony said they have "No IPs to make games for". Xbox is an app store now. It as a console brand with its own exclusives is effectively gone as is the reason to actually buy one.
I'm legit watching this on my Series X. Also, their only doing this because they only care about Game Pass. Like you can't even access it on other devises that not an actual Xbox without Game Pass. And that's what's causing the problem. Their so focused on GP 220% of the time, that their to blind to see what people actually want. Like I'm honestly getting worried about the gaming Industry as a whole. I don't have a good feeling where gaming is gonna be in 10 years if this keeps up. And if we don't speak up now, then gaming is screwed.
I'm just fine with the prospect that Xbox is going the way of SEGA...The sooner we can do all our gaming on one platform the better.

If they make exclusives on that Xbox handheld then it's fine but no exclusives, why bother. I'll just go to Nintendo and other 3rd parties like Asus, Lenovo etc.
I ditched Xbox officially after “4 games, and those 4 games are not Starfield or Indiana Jones” (for 20 years Xbox was my primary console)… I’m glad I did cause heck they then decided to close tango, then announce Indiana jones on ps5, then delayed avowed cause they had too many games after a decade of no games lololol.
But hey, I guess it’s working for them at least for now.

For me personally the best combo for an international truck driver like me is xbox at home connected to the internet and remote control play with xbox app on my phone and a controller
I play offline rpgs like dragon dogma 1 and diablo 3 so I dont even have any subscription

How do their games even function on mobile platforms or systems which don’t have the power of the actual X Box? I would think that would be a mess. Download times, graphics, usable controllers. I don’t see how that wins over the console unless it’s close to the console experience.

Xbox is no longer a home console. It's literally bare Bones subscription service. Just like Grand theft, Auto v was no longer a single-player experience the moment. Rockstar realized they could make a thousand times more profit off of microtransactions.
Other than the Xbox X being more powerful, Microsoft bought tons of studios while on the Xbox One era and released almost no games meaning that on the Xbox X era everyone expected all these games to come out… Yet this did not happen, no games have come out and they can now be played from anywhere which is good but also stupid and bad. The point of a console is for it to be a gaming specific device capable of running games without any hassle and great exclusive experiences and third party support drive console sales!!! The Xbox 360 used to be my all time favorite console, and the games defined that! It’s too bad this has happened…

I’m going to go with the fringe rumors that Xbox gamepass will be priority, moving forward, and that they will offer a “budget” handheld device (Series S quality, or better), and the high end console ($700-1000 range).
They will be third party, plus niche devices. That said, I feel like that’s where gaming is going to end up, regardless. We are going to end up as PC and niche hardware/consoles.

I think the biggest mistakes were ending og xbox/360 backwards compatability-fps boost, game pass price increases/taking xbox day one games out of game pass standard, delaying and releasing big games unfinished, closing studios. Xbox has been talking about the future for a long time many games they announced back then as exclusives even before the series x was out are still in development or we never heard about these anymore. Finally 2025 looking really good for xbox. The showcase 2024 was great and here we are they are talking about a new strategy another future you dont need an xbox no more console exclusives. Really tired of Xbox. I feel like Xbox is making many promises and talking about the future since 2014 but messaging changes every few years a different strategy, a different vision.
Who cares about the console war? It was never a real competition and X-box has never truly cared about it, why start now?
Seriously, Xbox is just a PC alternative, it's literally what they have always branded it, but to give up like that? Not only it's stupid, it's also a non issue. Make it modular, make a core console and then instead of producing all of it, just sell upgrades, same as with a computer, literally makes products easier to afford if you can buy pieces and easily swap parts...

Xbox really needs to come out and just admit their failure. They can't sell their console and they can't sell their games, all they have is game pass. Just tell us you're going 3rd party and your games aren't exclusive anymore and you can play 'gamepass' on anything with an internet connection and a screen. We all knew this was coming, it's not going to shock or surprise anyone.

Instead of trying to learn from mistakes and actually utlize the plethora of ip they have they insist on doing everything but the reason people buy a god damn console in the first place. As much as I don't care for Xbox I was hoping they'd realize how badly they've screwed up and finally give me a reason to buy one. But it seems they will never learn the lesson that they've really needed to since they started making consoles and that's sad.
