i think that isnt true... every metalhead here i germany know them and nearly everybody of them like or love them... ok... swifties or gagas perhaps not, but that not really interest...
Thanks for this reaction and your spot-in dissection. Glad you stumbled on Katatonia. Their rythms are genius, and the atmospheres are captivaiting. There are plenty of other songs that you may like: Atrrium, The Birds; Serein; Old Heart Falls; Austerity... Besides, Jonas Renke is a recurring singer for Arjen Lucassen
Glad to see you get round to Katatonia, I've always felt there's not enough people reacting to them. I've been hooked since I found them through Jonas Renske (the singer's) appearance in the Ayreon Universe concert (he appeared on the 01011001 album, and the new Live Beneath the Waves live album). There's just something about their compositions that draws me in and keeps me hooked. Will definitely be recommending more songs from them in the future
Such an amazing band. Please do yourself a massive favor and listen to these three albums by them: “the great cold distance”, “night is the new day” and “sky void of stars” (their latest). I promise you’ll refer to them as a favorite band by the time you’re done.
Katatonia is one of these underrated bands that provides pure artistic experiences with their music. They make everyone else look like they've been asleep at the wheel for decades. Where most rock/pop music is forgettable, every Katatonia song is a memorable experience. They're the only band (next to Tool) that you can count on to deliver something profound.
Katatonia is awesome. The interesting thing is that this version or sound of the band basically came about by accident. They started out as a Death Metal band and Jonas used to growl and scream as is usual in that genre. But, as legend goes, he developed problems with his vocal cords and a doctor basically told him that if he kept singing like that, he would lose his voice. So the vocal style changed and so did the overall sound of the band. And thank heavens for that.
Well, thx for introducing me to For Not Love Lisa, but it sounds absoloutely like nothing that Katatoniea´s ever produced. I have no idea where you got that idea from. I mean, one is 4.4, the other is llike 6-8 wtf? Love your reaction though.
Katatonia is so underrated. Very musical. Greetings from Sweden

So cool that you checked these guys out! I've always loved Katatonia's somber mix of alt-rock and metal. The perfect soundtrack for a rainy day.

And yeah, I should get on Discord
They came obviously from another Sphere...their lyrics are pure poetry...sadly half of humanity that are into "music" are sleeping...still😢
Katatonia is sublime.

I think the best word to summarize Katatonia would be, "Melancholic" .
Shifters, Opaline, Decima, the one you are looking for, Sweet nurse, July...

His vocals remind me of R.E.M., as do the visuals a little. But the drumming is definitely not like R.E.M.
