" He could not take from the forest , what was never meant to leave ......" This line was so beautiful ....! This song is so perfect ! I can't stop listening to it now .......
@@caseyborders732 Heathen Actually the motif of a maiden in a willow tree that is to be cut down is about 4000-6000 years old, recurring in some variations everywhere
Beauty isn’t meant to be possessed, but appreciated. He couldn’t just see her with her willow, he wanted-desperately desired- to have her in HIS home, to raise HIS children. He couldn’t give up on her, nor could he give up his life to be with her, so he tried to force her, but he couldn’t take what was never his, what was never meant to leave.
Yes. Music has always been a way to tell a story or give thought provoking ideas. The idea here? As far as i can tell is "some people cant take no for an answer." And they hurt those they claim to want by forcing them to be what they arent kr live a life they can't endure. As my mom put it. It sounds like a metaphor for killing her spirit.
Mount & Blade: Warband brought me here. This song... is a pure masterpiece.... My understanding is that the guy in this song represents men during medieval times who take what they want. The man embodies Ambition, Bravery, Lust and War whereas The Willow Maiden represents Purity, Beauty, Love and Devotion. The lyrics speaks for itself!😂Again, freakin’ BRILLIANT!
There's probably something to be learned herè. Was he simply a posssesive jerk, or did he assume she was cursed when she was actually the spirit of the tree, sort of a tragic misunderstanding of her fundamental nature? And in how far are those the same thing? Is she supposed to be defiant, or lamenting that he can't just be content with her in her in her natural state? I guess the ominous ambiguity without any necessary conclusion is part of what is alluring about this abstract archetypical style of storytelling, it has a way of just letting events stand there, like a picture to be regarded.
The song was made because the creator was always into this sort of fantasy thing. And in legends, water and tree nymphs or fairies were always offered to wed a human man, and he never really heard the fairy’s side so made this ending it with the death of the girl from making the mistake of stealing something he shouldn’t of
That is an interesting idea but after cutting down her tree he says "Now you belong to me." not "You are free." Or "Now we can be together." No he says "You are mine." That kind of implies to me that though he did not understand that cutting down the tree would kill her he believed that destroying it would let him take her. It wasn't about romance so much as possession.
I am not it's wrong or right but isn't this to be like it's in the past × 10 And weren't men like that Just a thought I am not saying it's right tho bc It is definitely not

'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance See me now, I cannot leave this place Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest Don't ask me, to follow where you lead' A young man walked through the forest With a flower and coat of green His love had hair like fire Her eyes an emerald sheen She wrapped herself in beauty So young and so serene He stood there under the willow And he gave her the yellow bloom 'Girl my heart you've captured Oh I would be your groom' She said she'd wed him never Not near, nor far, nor soon 'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance See me now, I cannot leave this place Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest Don't ask me, to follow where you lead' A young man walked through the forest With an axe sharp as a knife I'll take the green-eyed fairy And she shall be my wife With her I'll raise my children With her I'll live my life The maiden wept when she heard him When he said he'd set her free He took his axe and used it To bring down her ancient tree 'Now your willow's fallen Now you belong to me' 'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance See me now, I cannot leave this place Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest Don't ask me, to follow where you lead' She followed him out the forest, and collapsed upon the earth Her feet had walked but a distance, From the green land of her birth She faded into a flower, That would bloom for one bright eve He could not take from the forest, What was never meant to leave.
Thank you~ a very insightful and some may say prophetic song. "He could not take from the forest that which was never meant to leave"... I was considering the way in which Nature works - as a machine - and if too many components are removed or cut down the machine will fail and malfunction eventually, even if it is a self-regulating machine and has the capacity to heal itself. It also reminds me of the Huluppu Tree, or Tree of Life on the banks of the flowing Euphrates River, which Lilith the Goddess of Nature lived in before it was cut down, to use by others who don't really understand how it works.

Hmmm interesting... what would make this an interesting story is... if the flower was a budding new tree for a new fairy and then the forest traps the man and turns him into a flower and then the entire forest then moves to make the Willow fairy center again or the similar location to the distance in approximation to where she woulda been in original formation to everything, thus nothing left that never was meant to leave however something was added, if that was a case then I can totally make a complete full story out of this as there would be more elements. Then you need a village on each side of the forest, and one man from each village arrives to do something similar when the forest is near their city, thus it would make the "Enchanted Pendulum Forest: Mantrap Edition" Just saying lols. My imagination is always wild and I see these opportunities all the time and makes a story, you just need to use the power of 3 so 2 men fall for it then a Hero aka the 3rd, could be like wait I'm just gonna leave and by him leaving it breaks the spell, the Willow maid lives life eternal with no more men and no more men venture in or at very least if they do go in they never go in deep enough or the right direction to ever discover the Maid ever again. Something like this would be a more elaborated and fuller story as a heads up/tip cheers! :)

A young man walked through the forest
With his quiver and hunting bow
He heard a young girl singing
And followed the sound below
There he found the maiden
Who lives in the willow
He called to her as she listened
From a ring of toadstools red
'Come with me my maiden
Come from thy willow bed'
She looked at him serenely
And only shook her head.
'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance
See me now, I cannot leave this place
Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me, to follow where you lead'
A young man walked through the forest
With a flower and coat of green
His love had hair like fire
Her eyes an emerald sheen
She wrapped herself in beauty
So young and so serene
He stood there under the willow
And he gave her the yellow bloom
'Girl my heart you've captured
Oh I would be your groom'
She said she'd wed him never
Not near, nor far, nor soon
'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance
See me now, I cannot leave this place
Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me, to follow where you lead'
A young man walked through the forest
With an axe sharp as a knife
I'll take the green-eyed fairy
And she shall be my wife
With her I'll raise my children
With her I'll live my life
The maiden wept when she heard him
When he said he'd set her free
He took his axe and used it
To bring down her ancient tree
'Now your willow's fallen
Now you belong to me'
'See me now, a ray of light in the moondance
See me now, I cannot leave this place
Hear me now, a strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me, to follow where you lead'
She followed him out the forest, and collapsed upon the earth
Her feet had walked but a distance,
From the green land of her birth
She faded into a flower,
That would bloom for one bright eve
He could not take from the forest,
What was never meant to leave.

In My Version There's A Princess Who Is Eternally Trapped Aboard The Flying Dutchman And If Anyone
Tries To Free Her The Ship Will Go Beneath The Waves But One Day A Young Sailor Caught Her Eye
She Fell In Love But She Was Bound However The Princess's Heart Was Filled With Warmth She
Wept And She Longed For Him But She Somehow Knew Him So She Called For Help And Once
The Sailor Reached Her The Ship Began To Sink Again She Vanished Below The Sea But The Sailor
Had Her Necklace And Her Name Was On It He Remembered That Night Davy Jones Kidnapped His
Girlfriend And Chained Her Aboard His Ship He Tried To Go Aboard And Save Her But Davy Jones
Was Gone

The sing song is beatuful🦋
Don't know this group, but the singer sounds like Karan Casey
It was obvious she couldn't leave the tree because she was the tree
Em yêu cầu cái gì thì cứ làm cho em đi, sẽ thấy sẽ hiểu tại sao mình cần phải làm!
you cannot take from the forest as it will take from you
Tree of gud persona
A Young Sailor Sailed In The Sea
There He Heard A Cry Of Help
The Sailor Tried To Find Where
That Was Coming From
There He Saw The Flying Dutchman
His Heart Was Gripped With Terror
But He Heard The Voice Again
And He Saw A Woman
So The Sailor Asked Her Name
Do Not Come Aboard She Said
Fair Princess I Will Free Ye He Said
She Blushed When She Was Called Princess
You Cannot Free Me For I Am A Prisoner Here She Said
The Sailor Was Staring At Her But He Heard Pirates And Sailed Away
The Pirates Saw The Lass And Wanted Her
Scared The Woman Fled Back Beneath The Dutchman
But The Pirate Captain Grabbed Her And Lifted Her Upon His Shoulder
Yer Beautiful Lass So I Be Taking Ye Aboard Me Ship
You Cannot Force Me To Leave This Ship She Said
The Pirate Captain Wanted Her As His Bride
She Heard A Raspy Voice It Was The Dutchman's Captain
She Was So Scared She Told The Captain Everything
This Pirate Tried To Kidnap Me Will She Said
He Turned And Looked At Him
So You Want Her As Your Bride? Will Said
Yes The Pirate Captain Said
The Woman Was Filled With Terror She Heard Another Pirate
Leave That Lass Alone She Doesn't Like Pirates Like You
She Saw Fog Around This Ship And Went Aboard
OI Lass Ye Cant-
But It Was Too Late The Ship Was Gone
Not Again Will Help Yer Old Bud Here
Jack Said Will
Jack Frowned Me Ship Just Vanished
Will Laughed Yeah She Does That
I think the 9 people who disliked this video are deaf ...=~=
reporting. currently its 27 ryt now :):(
If I were that guy: if my action means to do you harm ,I'll stay
Is it just me or is this song reminiscent of the story of Apollo and Daphne?
This reminds me of Keyleth from Critical Role.
This song is so beautiful, but why is this maiden that weak and can´t keep her tree and herself?
SilentHill Demon she is a fairy. Gentle spirit who is not supposed to fight physically against axes
Probably because the axe was made of iron which is the fair folk's weakness.
Em mà quạo là đều có lý do!
✔❤
He should haf build his house close to her instead
yea hes a greedy man just taking her for her beauty
This reminds me of Legolas, Tauriel and Kili??
If he actually loved her why didn't he just...go to live with her in the forest?
This song would be iust beautiful in german
1:18 see me now!!!!
Bard song, change my mind.
Me: I’ll roll for persuasion and charisma
Dm: why?
Me:to change their mind
Dm: aight go for it
You: wait he can’t do that!
Me: *rolls high*
Me: can so >:)
Dm:*to you* would you like to counter?
You: of course! I’ll roll for distraction and comment discard
Dm: roll
You: *max roll*
Me: crud...
You: I’ll roll for attack ;)
Me: now hold on!
Why...
This was not love. Lust perhaps. Love would have found a way to join her, even if only in spirit. Sometimes the wild and beautiful must remain where they are found so they may stay wild and beautiful.
Hey to everyone who disliked this song......I just want-Hey I just want to talk ok😤😈🔪🔫🔱.....meny hours later 😁 all better just don't go into the closet EVER k?
Well I guess death is better than living in a tree forever
She said “no”, so it must not be for her.
Now all you have to do is invert the roles... and you have the true story.
How many axe-wielding women have kidnapped men to keep as sex slaves/domestic servants?
The original video has lyrics. So this is completely useless.
