    Should solve root causes first.
    - no jobs, high unemployment
    - insufficient highways, roads, bridges, specially in states other than assam
    - insufficient representation. Low no of mp's
    - insufficient telecommunication coverage. States like arunachal don't even have proper internet coverage other than sub-par bsnl
    - no investments in business/service sector. Reason for growing unemployment
    - closed borders/passes. No trade possible with neighbour countries. Totally dependent on mainland.
There might be more problems. Unless these are addressed, any fresh competition on the already low resources will give rise to protests. Also, there should be more effort put into solutions to conserve regional culture etc. Expecting the people to emerge out of their "tribal" culture will just lead to us losing an important cultural heritage and legacy

On what ground is the date 24th march 1971 decided? Why not earlier or later?

    • @ay6401
      @ay6401 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

Bharat Terang well that's possibly becoz two days later Bangladesh became an Independent country (declaration was made on 25th March 1971 nd their official date of independence is 26th March 1971). Before that there was a huge refugee crisis in our country as a lot of people were influxing in our territory from East Pakistan side to save themselves from the brutalities of Pakistani army. With due course of time it become clear that soon East Pakistan will be a new nation nd seeing that INDIAN armed forces crushing the Pakistani forces nd situation normalising gradually a lot of refugees started going back .Now in a move to save the country from unnecessary influx of migrants from Bangladesh from here after as situation has more or less normalised the Indian authorities declared a final date that after this date no Bangladeshis' would be further entertained in our country nd this date was 24th March 1971 . Nd one more reason for not selecting a prior date was that NRC wasn't updated after 1951 nd it would have been a herculian task to identify Bangladeshis' who came illegally even before the crisis .

@@Suniana085 the people of Assam are mainly protesting against the passed legislation the citizenship amendment act (CAA). it is so because the locals there feel that their culture and resources will heavily be affected once the stay of lakhs of hindu illegal migrants (from Bangladesh) are legitimised according to the provisions of the act . The act provides for according citizenship to hindus, Buddhists , Jains, Sikhs and Christians who have fled Bangladesh , Afghanistan and Pakistan due their persecution in these three nations . The nationwide protest against CAA is possibly because illegal muslim migrants from these three countries have been left out from being accorded Indian citizenship under the provisions of the act and is also because it has been rumored around by certain vested groups (who want to disturb peace and stability of our nation) that muslims already living in India would be forced out of the country during the NATION wide NRC if they don't produce the required documents ( nothing about which is in public domain) .

🌐What was *Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal ) (IMDT) Act* ?
🎃Known as the *IMDT Act (1983)* it described the *procedures to detect illegal immigrants* (from Bangladesh) and expel them from Assam. The Act was pushed through mainly on the grounds that it *provided special protections against undue harassment to the “minorities”* affected by the Assam Agitation. It *was applicable to the state of Assam only* whereas in other states, detection of foreigners is done under The Foreigners Act, 1946.
    🗺When was it abolished?
☞ It was struck down by the Supreme Court of India in *2005* in *Sarbananda Sonowal v. Union of India* .
    ☃Why was the act controversial?
☛The act *made it difficult to deport illegal immigrants from Assam* . It has been alleged to be one of the *main reasons* for the *rapid rise of the Muslim population and demographic change* in *Assam* .
    🔍How a person is declared a Foreigner?
    ☛ *Under IMDT*
●The burden of *proving the citizenship* or otherwise *rested on the accuser and the police* , not the accused.
●Accuser must reside within a 3 km radius of accused.
●Accused is required to produce a *ration card* to prove his Indian citizenship.
●Tribunals made up of retired judges would finally decide on deportation based on the facts.
    *The Foreigners Act,1946*
●According to the Foreigners (Report to the police) Order, 2001, made under the Foreigners Act 1946, where *any person* who has reason to believe that a *foreigner* has entered India *without valid documents* or is staying in India *beyond the authorized period* .It shall be the duty of such person to inform the nearest police station, within 24 hours, of the presence of such foreigner.
●Foreigners Act empowers the Indian administration to detain a person until he/she is deported back to his/her own country.

Was it our fault that the Government failed to act? Was it our fault that our wishes weren't respected, even when several hundreds of us were martyred, and many more disabled for life, while fighting for this cause?
