      Simon, I thought that I’d signed up for the emailed trainings, but so far, I don’t think I’ve been receiving the emails. When I attempted to join the training community again just now, I received an error message (page not found). Would you kindly guide me to the appropriate info? I’ve got your full 2.0 download (I think perhaps there’s an upgrade to that, that I also need directions to, please). Thanks much for your help! :-)

    I'm loving this entire series, which I stumbled on two weeks ago. This past week I built out everything you've covered in the series before, and I've started migrating all of my "stuff" from Evernote and Trello, because Notion handles it all so much better and in one spot. Your Formulas and Views tips for automations are the key. I've dabbled with notion for a few years on some collaborative projects with colleagues at my day job university, but was never sold on Notion (the way my colleagues use Notion is very limited and something I can easily do elsewhere) until I stumbled on your TH-cam channel and excellent video tutorials. I'm a professional educator in all three of my jobs, specializing in online education, and I'm really loving the quality, planning, and organization of your video instruction.

    I've been using Notion for 3 years now and have always been updating it little by little and watching your videos these last couple of days have been super inspiring. I'm taking the exact functions and features that I needed, so a BIG thank you to you.
    I've just a question on the 'This Week (Analog)' and 'This Week (Do Date)'. Not entirely sure what the difference is and when yo use which. Do you think you could explain it a bit more in depth?
    Again, thanks so much for your time and effort that goes on behind the scenes. Hoping to be able to support you financially one day as well :') Until then, I'll be working hard using your Notion skills to earn that money to support you haha :')

      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for such a lovely comment! Yeah basically the by date view filters by a calendar view, the other just drops tasks into a dateless Board view for the week using tags. Some people prefer to keep it simple. I personally only use the date / calendar version - really I’m adding options for different people’s tastes. You can see more about the ‘analog’ version here if helpful: th-cam.com/video/D8lT675uhiQ/w-d-xo.html

      Yes - when I found Notion were soon to release recurring database templates and sub-items after I started making parts 3&4 I had to wait for those to be released or it would have immediately been redundant! Will fit these back into the schedule now that the new features are live on Notion :)

[218,219] -- do you know what I did wrong? Has Notion changed the way formulas are entered? You don't seem to need a prop("property name") anymore.

  • @douglashornell-scott5126
    @douglashornell-scott5126 ปีที่แล้ว

    Simon - perfect. I've looked at nearly every Notion site out there - Marie, August to name probably the two heavy hitters - and this is without doubt very well executed. I don't think people fundamentally realise how hard it is to construct a learning plan that is at the base of it, simple and intuitive.
    Would it be fair to assume that you have dispensed with apps like Apple Reminders, Apple Notes? If you have not, how do you wind these into your work flow? I've heard that one of the issues with Notion is working offline? If I have this wrong, then please tell me. Look forward to hearing from you.

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks my friend! Really pleased you find this valuable! - years of leading theatre workshops have helped I hope! :) yes - dispensed with apple reminder and Notes. Todoist can be better actually and I believe you can connect to Notion with the API if you want. But overall - yes - I find it fine with no offline mode - but it’s the main concern for - here’s hoping it’s high on the list from Notion HQ in future Dev! Cheers

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great stuff! Yes - design wise I’m working on a set of icons and covers to take it further and exploring ways to use the features in pleasing layouts. Design was just to keep things vivid but simplistic. :)

    Hi Simon, Need your help for configuring my daily/weeks tasks done for the day view.
    The thing is I like to have to a weekly view where I have to see the task I have done. Here I can do a single task for multiple days. Lets say I have a small project which has 1 month to complete. I may have worked on it on multiple days [not continuously]. Assuming I've worked on it on 5,7,10,15 days of the month. I need to have Monthly view to show the same task on those days.
    I trying to find a property which accepts Multi days as input so that I can track on which days of the month i have worked on it. Expecting your reply. Thanks in advance !

    Amazing video! I've been following you and many other notion nerds for a long time and my system was becoming a mix and match which was great at first but quickly became to cluttered and messy and difficult to use. This has really helped me strip back to basics!
    I was wondering though, how do you "process" a task that doesn't associate to a project as such, in my work & life I've got many weekly tasks that require doing, but don't related to a current running project, what would be your suggestion here?

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to read and have you in the community! I put tasks into the inbox each day and then either do it if can be done in under 2mins, defer it by adding to a project (I would just great a simple ‘project’ that can filter it into the system: E.g. ‘weekly business!’ - whatever works for you. Eg. Could have personal, work, life admin, finances. Etc. Keep it simple and in your own language. Hope that helps! :) Have a read of Getting Things Done too: it’s useful - old but a classic and a good in point. Cheers

    Hi Simon....i am new to Notion and watched lot of your past videos. Want to get started with "a complete notion" template. Recently you updated the simplified version template and i read in comments of that video that you will be updating the productive notion and complete notion templates soon. So my query is - should i wait for the new notion template to be released (complete version) and also, i want to start planing for 2023 rather setting any goal for 2022. So do you create a new dashboard each year and if yes, how do you roll forward the projects, tasks and habits to set the templates for the new year. Pardon if my questions sounds strange as i am just getting started with notion. Thanks.

      Thanks. The inbox is great for quickly having everything in one place to add things through the day when you have more databases together in the linked view (notes, links, tasks, habits etc). For the view I think You need to go to the layout options for the view and change the view for the gallery to the cover image… if I understand you right. :)

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to put an icon in a heading on a Notion page is to either use a fallout block or use an @ mention to another page. If you mean in a database tab - go to edit the property title and select it next to the title. Hope that helps. If you want to add an emoji - you need to find your emoji menu on PC - I think it’s ‘ctrl .’ Hope that does it.

    In the videos in this Build series, you advise us to tell you in the Comments about additional features we'd like to see covered in this series. I'd like to hear your thoughts and hopeful recommendations for how to handle parent/child projects (or main and sub projects) and work those into the review dashboard. I face this situation often. For example: a parent-level project for Conference XYZ 2023 in which I am presenting several lectures. So I have tasks associated with that parent-level project (speaking contract, submitting promotional media materials, payment, etc.), but I need to set up sub-projects for each individual presentation. I want to somehow be able to in my Weekly Review monitor my progress status for that parent-level project, yet also do the same for each associated child project. Thanks.

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Notion seems like the linux version of task managers. Over-complicated but you can set it up how you want to use it.
