Thank you for the info. Personally I don't like fake leather. I am a 365 days motorcycle rider and fake leather cannot last enough for it's price. Fake leather will brake apart, but real leather will keep going if you clean and use leather creme to keep it in top condition. Price difference: fake leather boots 175 euro. Real leather boots top quality: 300 euro. Fake leather: lasts: 2.5 ~ 3 years then it breaks, cannot prevent. Real leather boots, top quality can last let's say 10~15 years. So, you descide what you want. I tried, I think fake leather is rubbish.

No matter what chemists try, they will never replace the benefits of authentic top grain leather. Nor surpass tgese benefits

Fake leather is plain inferior to real leatherin shoes and most clothing. The only reason its used is its much cheaper to spurce than real leather

Which makes you hotter in the summer, real leather or PU leather?

      real leather is more breathable

@@ppelab6062 Yes, but in a side by side comparison of two similar garments, which actually makes you hotter, i.e. which will cause heat stroke faster under the same conditions? And how exactly is leather more breathable in any practical definition? I can breathe through a cotton shirt, but I can't breathe through leather. Does it dissipate heat slower or faster than PU leather? That's a valuable question. In practical terms, the "breathability" of leather is meaningless.
PU might hold heat better, but it's thinner and lighter than leather, so heat might dissipate faster than it does from leather. It also hangs looser than leather, so it might circulate air better than leather, dissipating heat faster.
I hear two different claims: people claiming PU won't make you as hot and is therefore an okay garment for summer (people speaking from personal experience), and people claiming that PU is hotter than leather and thus leather is better for summer wear (people who've made no A/B comparison). I have two leather outfits, and any time I wear them when the temperature is above 70 degrees, I get heat stroke. I used to shop at Walmart in leathers, and by the time I was ready to check out, I had heat stroke. It seems cool, but the reality is that it was wicking moisture away from my skin and giving me the illusion that I wasn't sweating that much. The only giveaway was the sweat pouring down my face.
I was hoping for an actual scientific answer, but I guess nobody has ever done the sort of testing comparisons to determine emperically which material holds heat better in actual use conditions. That, or nobody seems to know of it, and they're just repeating the same old assumptions that PU is hotter.
I'm guessing PU is actually cooler, just by experiential reports and by the fact that they use it in movies instead of leather because actors don't sweat as much. But I was hoping for some science, since subjective observations aren't as reliable.
