  • Why is Kalachakra practice recommended by great Buddhist teachers such as the Dalai Lama in these difficult times?
Why is Kalachakra considered to be a highest yoga meditational form of Shakyamuni Buddha?
How can Kalachakra meditation help to relieve our suffering?
We answer these questions and more in this short, informative presentation on the ultimate form of Shakyamuni Buddha.
    MANTRA:Beautiful chanting: • Kalachakra Mantra: 10-...
In this time, when wars and disease and economic turmoil arise again in Samsara, Kalachakra is among the most important practices in Vajrayana Buddhism, to help us overcome our many obstacles.
This practice represents none other than the Highest Yoga Practice of the glorious conqueror Shakyamuni Buddha.
Buddha taught in different ways for a multitude of suffering beings.
In a display of this wonderful Enlightened skill, at the same time Buddha taught skillfully on our "plane of existence" - offering teachings in different ways to different followers, as best suited them - he taught in all planes of existence (time and space being relative and unlimited, after all.) The teachings of the Kalachakra Tantra are his highest teachings, although to achieve profound benefits requires training and a qualified teacher.
FOR CHANTING: Generally, teachers advise it's fine, especially in these times of degeneration. The Dalai Lama does massive public events for this reason. The general guidance is that reciting is fine, but you may NOT self-generate or practice the meditative sadhana without empowerment and instruction. As a Highest Yoga Tantra, the empowerments have always been involved, but Kalu Rinpoche, Dalai Lama, and others have stated that the public exposition of this tantra is essential in this current degenerate age. For this reason, you see the mantra everywhere, and the Dalai Lama and other teachers offer it to large groups (which is unusual for Highest Yoga Tantras). However, be guided by your own teacher. Certainly, there is no doubt that self-genration (where you visualize yourself as Kalacharka) is not permitted without instruction.
His Emminence Garchen Rinpoche guides that the main requirement is Bodhichitta -- the intention to benefit other sentient beings.
Basically, you are making offerings and praise with this mantra -- it's not specifically an activity mantra. Most praise and offering mantras are fine. The meaning of the mantra is The first four syllables OM AH HUM HOH of this mantra are the four vajra syllables of the body (OM), speech (AH), mind (HUM), and wisdom (HOH).
The next two syllables, HAM and KSHAH are the bija syllables for the father Kalachakra (HAM) and, correspondingly, his consort Vishvamata (KSHAH).
The syllable MA is the basis for the inestimable mansion of Kalachakra. The four syllables LA VA RA YA stands for the 4 elements of earth, fire, water, and wind. HUM PHAT represents an offering of blessings, with the wish that hearing this powerful mantra and chanting it brings supreme benefit to all sentient beings.
    Venerable Zasep Tulku Rinpoche explains:
"Kalachakra deity is an emanation of Buddha Shakyamuni.
He is the opponent of the age of degeneration, Kali Yuga.
Kalachakra revolves around the concept of time (kala) and cycle or wheels.
Kalachakra, in Tibetan Dhukor, means wheel of time, wheel of Samsara turning, wheel of sharp weapons turning, wheel of wars turning and wheel of suffering turning.
At this time, it is important to turn the wheel of holy Dharma.
It is time to practice Kalachakra Tantra."

I found Kalachakra on accident while trying to find out what my next step in the reiki path is. It came to me suddenly and all kinds of weird coincidences have happened and a big one was Zasep Tullku Rinpoche was supposed to be giving free teachings tomorrow but I live in Tennessee and it would take me 32 hours to make it there which isn’t enough time unfortunately. One day 🙏

Interesting content, but the explanations remain very superficial, e.g. it is not explained exactly how this tantra helps to overcome our problems and struggles. I would also like to note that the practice of this tantra is impractical for an estimated > 95% of Buddhists. The initiation to this tantra alone takes several days not to mention the very complex and extensive (daily) practice.

Thank you for watching. Yes, you are right, it is meant as a introduction only, a "benefits of practice" intro. This practice requires teacher guidance and instruction and extensive empowerments, as you indicated. This is why we mentioned finding a qualified teacher. Thank you, again.

Thanks for watching. Yes, hopefully we'll do an in-depth documentary, thanks for the feedback. We're trying shorter formats, since they seem to be more popular, breaking up topics a bit instead of all in one format. Feedback is always welcome! Thank you!

Can you please list up Heruka ,dakini and yidam whose practice doesn't need any initiation?

    • @BuddhaWeekly
      @BuddhaWeekly  ปีที่แล้ว +7

Thank you for watching. This doesn't have a simple answer, since different lineages of teachings have different teachings, however, a good rule of thumb is that Kriya Tantra deities such as Avalokiteshvara, Vajrapani and Manjushri (who are the Three Great Ones) are good for anyone to practice, along with, of course, Mother Tara, Shakyamuni Buddha, Medicine Buddha, Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava. However, it depends on how you define "need initiation." Basically it isn't so much a question of which deities, but rather how you practice. If you are making offerings, prostrations, and frontal generating (that means you visualize the deity IN FRONT of you (not yourself as deity) then almost all deities are fine to practice this way - with one proviso. As His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche points out in every teaching, the main requirement of practicing a deity is Bodhichitta. Bodhichitta transcends any requirement for empowerment. In other words, if you have empowerment, but do not practice Bodhichitta, it isn't really effective (doesn't mean you can't, only that there's minimal benefit.) So, keep loving kindness, universal compassion and Bodhichitta in your heart, and any Yidam practice can be valuable.
For deities where you do not have empowerment, honor them, keep Bodhichitta as your central focus, and frontal generate ONLY.
On the other hand, the definition of "Yidam" is "heart deity" and we usually choose one to practice at a time, and these practices are more in-depth than "offerings" and require guidance.
Why is Yidam heart? Because the heart is associated with the mind in Buddhism. This is why we usually visualize the Yidam at our own hearts. Because it is the "heart" deity it's not a light practice, and you should receive teachings and empowerment before you engage in any form of self-generation (which is, pun intended, the heart of Yidam practice.) We visualize ourselves as the Yidam (Enlightened body), we chant the mantra as Yidam speech (Enlightened speech, or Dharma) and hold the deity at our heart (Enlightened mind) - inseperable from our own mind.
As you can imagine, to do all of this requires teachings, seed inspiration (i.e. empowerment), and a dedication to regular practice. If you don't have any of these, we focus for now on honoring the Enligthened Deities in front of us (not self generated) making offerings and aspirations, and we mainly practice developing the Three Principle Paths of Buddhism:
Renunciation - the determination to be free
Bodhichitta - the determination to help others be free (all encompassing loving kindness and compassion for all beings.)
Shunyata - the perfect view, the real antidote of “correct view of Emptiness.”
Yidam practice helps us train in all three when we're ready and have a teacher. (Many teachers offer empowerments and full teaching series online, such as Garchen Rinpoche (TH-cam: www.youtube.com/@GarchenBuddhistInstituteAZ or online garchen.net)
In other words, to attain benefits from any practice, it's always best to have guidance from a teacher who has first-hand experience with the methods. Today, with many teachings online, it's not difficult. Only twenty years ago, we'd have to wait years for a teacher to come into our orbit. Today, it's much easier with diverse internet teachings.
      Hope that helps.
