I’m still surprised and pissed off that Konami hasn’t made a new Castlevania game in over a decade, especially since both of the shows have brought the franchise a level of popularity that hasn’t been seen since the 90’s. But instead Konami is just sitting over its hoard of amazing IP’s and doing nothing with them like a dragon over its hoard of gold.
One thing I didn’t know when I was watching season 1 of this show is that Erzsebet Báthory is, like Vlad Tepes, based on a real historical figure: a (reputed, convicted, but it might’ve just been political/social bs of the day, like the Salem witch trials) Hungarian serial killer from back in the day who inspired legends similar to Vlad the Impaler, and from the same general region. That took her from (my opinion) a very mid villain in season 1 to being at least interesting in season 2, though she’s still one of the least interesting parts of this show, to me
So interesting thing we can infer from the first season so this isn't like spoilers or anything, Juste's game involves a set of characters that he's friends with or loves I can't remember I never personally played the games, I just went into a deep dive of internet documentaries lol. The point is, his game has multiple endings, one of which involves his friends perishing, the worst ending you can get. The educated guess we could come to from Season 1 is that this story of Juste is from that ending as his friends aren't here and were very prevalent in his life, so his whole scene where he seems to be reminiscing with the tombstone is his moment of "I'll do it right this time" I guess or something, again, never played the games lol. Someone can totally correct me lol I need to go play these games XD
That’s like saying Usain Bolt is slow because you saw him walking normally… if he wouldn’t even have to *try* to beat you normally, why would he be constantly try-harding? To stick with the Usain Bolt analogy, if he could beat a normal person with a light jog I just don’t think he’d push himself the same way he would against an olympic athlete during competition every day when he walks around his house or wherever he’s going
@healgoth the analogy doesn't work at all bc that would mean that Usain bolt would actually go from lapping me to not being able to beat me at all for no reason if we're comparing it fairly to Alucard this season. The issue is that Alucard should be at a certain level, but depending on where the story is going, he'll be presented as not holding back, but beneath that level until the narrative requires him to display his power. Ignoring the fact that Alucard was already supposed to be second only to dracula centuries ago in OG Castlevania (which was also an example of his power fluctuating for plot bc he then gets manhandled by an anemic Dracula), Alucard goes from not even even being able to cut super Drolta to squaring up to that same drolta after becoming 2/3 of a deity bc of a bloodlust boost. Dont get me wrong the fight was awesome, but its a huge inconsistency in his abilities if he was already capable of doing that, then why not pull it out when batdemon drolta was running away with what was going to doom the country and then the world if left in their hands (which was his perspective of the situation)? The only reason this happens is so that the story can move forward and it always bugged me.
