      It is already in the standard TLE sources, you just need to update. It may not be named yet, instead of Meteor look for "2023-091A"

    I have received LRPT a day after it launched. And like you showed. The signal fluctuated quite a bit too. And it still does.
    I got a decent picture tho.
    I might try HRPT soon.
    Looking forward to the directional antenna video

    That's pretty cool, I used to get receive the NOAA sat passes and could get pretty good results from my DIY 120 degree dipole antenna with a SDR. I tried getting the passes from the Meteor-m sat but I never could decode a good image, always had bars or gaps, just figured it was my antenna or my cheap SDR. I've always been a bit of a geek and I just loved to tell my friends I get my weather directly from a satellite in space, no middle man. :-)

    awesome job with the satellite analysis! And amazing image from the extendable QFH antenna arm. LRPT is decent and HRPT looks great. Looking forward to sample its hrpt capabilities from Greece.

      yeah - it's properly fucked. 87 deg pass, no more than 12 dB SNR, and after it went overhead the signal dropped like a stone. The antenna's pattern is definitely directional.

    Hi Dereksgc. I follow you for some time but i never post a word.
    I give you my like and i have a question for you.
    Do you know a easy way to download any other sat images than the GOES?
    I found a way to download the GOES from NOAA and NASA, but i want to use another kind of satellites because i want to make comparisons. I do not have the equipment to do this, but if i can, i can download from a repository in internet.
    With time i want to introduce myself in the way of receiving directly, but its complex in this moments. (for money issues).

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Access to NOAA data is probably the easiest. It is possible to get data from Meteosat for free from Eumetsat by using the Eumetview or Eumetsat Data Store. For other satellites, you want to search for terms such as "level 1 data" or "level 2 data", possibly "hdf" files which is the format they usually come from. Converting them into an image can be quite tricky though. Ironically in many cases it is easier to just set up the antenna yourself than to go through the complicated process of obtaining the data online as an individual

    • @germanskena6537
      @germanskena6537 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dereksgc Thank you for the fast reply. Well, if i need to open hdf i can use the ENVI software, but i want a chewed formad like a jpg, i also plan to make an app in kotlin-java, for view atmospheric visual info.
      Now i have a non released educational app for this. For academical use only.
      I was thinking i could find jpg files of the bands and show them separately and use it to understand details of the bands for my geoinformatic class. I am geologist and software developer, that's the reason of asking this things.
      Thank you for the data, i will continue searching in Eumetsat data store as you point me.

    Hey! Ive been struggeling with decoding Meteor-M N2-3 LRPT. Im getting a strong signal but for some reason I cant decode anything. Im assuming my recording settings are wrong, I use WFM demodulation, 2.4M sample rate and record as audio/wav (in sdr++). Do I need to record a baseband file for LRPT? Ive been told I should usually use NFM for sat decoding (atleast for APT) but sdr++ doesnt let me use the required bandwidth with NFM.

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep you have to use baseband. APT is the only exception where you can use audio demod, all digital signals need to be basebad/raw IQ recorded.

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว

      250ksps sample rate is enough, it will have the smallest file size when recording baseband

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is probably going to be the most likely thing to happen. Sometimes you might get lucky depending whether the satellite is east or west of you and get more consistent signal

    I'm having the same issue... My QFH antenna gets a perfect signal from NOAA satellites for the entire duration of the pass, but Meteor only gives a good signal for the first half of the pass and dies the moment it passes the halfway point and starts moving away from me.

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well at least now you know the issue is not on your side. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do with an omnidirectional antenna, just keep trying until you eventually get lucky and get good signal throughout the pass. Try focusing on lower elevation passes, those may be better

    • @dereksgc

      You have to elaborate on what is happening. You load it into satdump, select the Meteor-M N2-X LRPT mode, and select an output folder

    • @Smile249

    • @dereksgc
      @dereksgc  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Smile249 How did you record it then? For digital signals you need to record the full bandwidth in its raw form, so usually best way to do it is just baseband recording the entire sampled bandwidth. This sounds like you might have recorded audio, which would result in a very small file that's almost instantly processed
